Sunday hours
I went to the Masters website and saw the paint I wanted to buy was $3 cheaper than Bunnings, so I intended to buy it early sunday morning to do my job that day. Then I saw that the Masters store did not open until 11am! How crazy are they?
Bunnings opens at 7am on sundays, so I will pay $3 more for the paint and have the job just about finished by the time Masters hardware opens! Masters obviously does not understand the hardware business, where workers and home renovators want to get things done on a sunday morning.
Also I went to buy pot...

CONSIDERING A MASTERS KITCHENS ? BEAWARE OF THEIR DESIGN SERVICES
Customers who are considering getting assistance from their expert design team, please be mindful that if you don’t get Masters to install the kitchen all you are given is a useless non- itemized quote (that I couldn’t even take to another company to compare) for $49.
For myself, this meant I had a kitchen expert come and measure up my small unit kitchen and then I spend hours in store constructing 3D designs. N.B They need to do this before they can tell you the price of the kitchen and the installation price. I went to the next level of h...
Read moreaving the contractor complete a design review for $149.00. I had some tradesman friends look at the quote and had a better price given for installation. I went back to masters to order the kitchen they designed but I COULD NOT PURCHASE JUST THE KITCHEN. I was informed that last month, legislation changed and that they only have a ‘design to install licence ‘. This apparently means that they couldn’t even give me a list of the cabinets I needed for the kitchen I paid to be designed. Nowhere in the paper work does it say that due to legislation if you don’t go ahead with their installer you are not entitled to a floor plan, a list of the cabinets required or a set of measurements they took. What was the $49 I paid actually for? I felt because of the time it took I was given no option but to use their intstaller and pay the $4200 for the cabinets and benchtop and the install price of $3800 (without electrical and plumbing). I was told if I came back with my own measurements they could assist me stick stickers in the kitchen floor plan booklet and suggest ideas. But they could not give me access to anything they had done previously . I don’t get it, I was still buying their product -over $4000 worth. Ethically, I felt this was wrong and have since taken my business elsewhere. I will state that Jarrod the kitchen expert was initially very helpful, professional and efficient, the store and assistant store manager, Matthew and Trevor were very apologetic, professional and sorted out the refund quickly. However, Masters edited your website and put what you do and don’t provide in writing so that it is clear from the beginning that you CAN NOT design kitchens if you are not installing them. I am still confused about what service people get for the $49 or $99 of consult with a kitchen expert staff were professional misleadingdarayusSydney Surrounds, NSW

Check price what you pay at store
Bought Merlin door remote with other items, paid and came home recheck and found that i have been overcharged, drive back to store and finally they agreed to refund the difference. Meet the store incharge who was available and his argument is that yes we have more then 33000 item on the floor so this things happens and we cannot keep track of all changes.

Check the Price before you leave the store and after sales staff attitude

Website Sucks, "Click n Collect" is a bad Joke, Staff are useless and disinterested.
Unfortunately this experiment shows what happens when you try and take the supermarket business model into a hardware store.
You go to woolies to buy milk, you don't need assistance, you don't need recommendations or instructions, so they can get away with employing gormless teenagers and tired old women. Try the same thing in a hardware store, and it just doesn't hunt. Their staff are lazy & clueless, and just not interested in helping.
Doesn't help that they have laid out their store just like their supermarkets. So the display is in o...

Frustrated Masters Kitchen buyer
I ordered the top of the range Masters Kitchen Dec 13 I still dont have my kitchen completed. Their installer was rude so thank goodness used my own builder. Several items did not turn up on delivery day, kick boards, cupboard doors, handles, inserts etc some items were delivered within a couple of days other items arrived six weeks later. Due to the delay they could not install the glass splash back which I find out today has been measured wrong because the measurement was done before one of the cupboards not delivered was not installed. Whe...
Read moren outstanding cupboards did turn up the panels were all broken even though the packaging was in tact. No-one ever seems to know what is going on. Lack of co-ordination - if their was one person overseeing from beginning to end todays fiasco would not have occurred. I liked the look of the high gloss units but definitely not worth the aggrevation. Wish I had gone with a Bespoke kitchen designer. I had quotes from some quality kitchen designers and their prices were no different to Masters. I regret my choice of supplier. It has not been an enjoyable experience. "think twice". Poor product knowledge
Went to the Ellenbrook store which was 25kms away to look at kitchens about 7.45pm. Really knowledgable girl on desk helped us. Looked around for 1/2 hour and decided to purchase, used call button and waited 10 minutes. Senior staff turned up who told us the item was special order, corrected as was told it was stock by girl and call centre. He said he couldn't find it and all kitchen staff left at 8pm. The store is open to 9pm!! Asked me if we could come back another day, for those who know Ellenbrook its a pain to get too. Will wait for Joondalup store but Masters really need to look at training its staff. If you don't have adequate cover, then don't open.
Range and choice. Light and airy.
Poor staff knowledge.

Kitchen - problem after problem
Masters was recommended to me for my new kitchen by somebody in the building trade and I thought that was good enough. But they've been utterly hopeless from day one.
First they got the initial measurements wrong (which I paid for), then they put an amateur, inexperienced designer on the job and her work had to be completely re-done. By this time they'd placed the order and had to recall it, then place it again after three more visits to their designer. This involved lots of phone calls and visits from me to hassle them and hurry them up - ...
Read morenobody there has been proactive in contacting me. By the time the product was delivered it was six weeks after the order was placed and four months after the process had begun. Their installer doesn't have any tradespeople in my city so they initially gave me a date 6 weeks away to start the process and only after several phone calls from me to explain how frustrated and disappointed I already was with the whole process did they suddenly realise they could make it work. They sent the builders to do the job in three-day lots over a couple of weeks... but no plumber is available at the moment. They got nearly to the point of having installed all the base cabinets and then discovered a key base cabinet was missing (along with a range of other smaller stuff), and therefore the benchtop can't be ordered. So now i'm without a kitchen, appliances, electricity or water, and there's a large-ish hole in the floor (1.5m x 20cm). Winter approaches and it's getting pretty chilly. And I can't cook so the kids and I are surviving on camping rations. Masters finally delivered the missing cabinet but now of course the tradies aren't available in my town - indefinitely - and the project manager is 'snowed under' and doesn't know when they'll be back. I am camping in my own home. This process has now been going on for more than six months and I am well and truly sick of it. My summary: The huge and continuing inconvenience and frustration, the lack of established protocols and policies, the rubbish customer service and the just plain getting it wrong - are NOT worth the savings of getting your kitchen/laundry done through Masters. No way will I be recommending them or going back.1 comment

The Aldi Of Home Improvement
I have been to the Chullora Masters a few times now and am less than impressed. The store is clean and shiny and air conditioned, with fairly clear signage.
However if you're thinking it's like a 'Bunnings' you're mistaken.
In every product category they have a FRACTION of the range. Some examples are power tools, lights, screws nuts and bolts, paint and letterboxes.
Letterboxes: 3 styles compared to 12+ at bunnings. Nice big shelf display for 3 letterboxes is stupid.
I wanted to buy 4L of Dulux paint, in a dulux colour. However nee...
Read moreded an employee to find it for me on the shelves and mix it of course. I could not find any staff whatsoever. Masters has a panic alarm for such situations which, when pressed, callsout "Customer Assistance required in the Pain department" over and over But still I waited.Find out how Masters Home Improvement compares to other Hardware Shops

I'll stick to Bunnings
Went into Masters Chullora expecting a direct competitor to Bunnings. It is not. Prices are about the same as Bunnings. I felt like this store was trying to be a Big-W/Costco/Bunnings under one roof. Not sure why I would buy a refrigerator in a hardware store. Bunnings have a much wider range of stock, I don't feel like Masters want the "professional trades" business - just the weekend DIY crowd. Although Bunnings service can be a problem sometimes, I felt like the staff here were taken straight out of the local woolworths supermarket. They wer...
Read moree not at all friendly, and it was quite obvious the staff were trying to avoid customer contact. Maybe it will get better, but overall Bunnings still has the better range of products and the feeling of a "specialty" hardware store. Impressive building, clean, lots of room inside Small product range, not very useful for professional trades people or serious DIY'ersSavvy Shopper73Greater Melbourne (Inner), VIC

No customer query follow up.
We recently finished a reno and only had I room to re-carpet. We were thrilled that Masters had come to town so we decided to take a look. We ended up buying several small items but when we went to the carpet section to enquire about a price for 1 room, carpet only because the existing underlay is still in good condition. The guy said it was unlikely that they will install the carpet without up buying new underlay from them as it would void the warrenty of the carpet. He took our detail down as he would have someone call us to explain further. ...
Read moreThat was 3 weeks ago. I dont think we will get a call back nor do I think we will end up buying the carpet from Masters. I would still buy other smaller items from masters, they do seem to be competitivly priced, however I would only buy the things that dont need staff support. The staff at Masters are there at the ready and eager to help. Seems to be a lack of product knowlege and no customer service follow up.Adam20MELBOURNE

A big disappointment
Our local masters opened recently with much fan fare. Sadly, I was disappointed, no decent deals, car park too small, store felt cramped, had to serve ourselves at the checkout. The prices were no cheaper than bunnings and the range was very limited.
Perhaps I was expecting too much, but really, i'm not a convert from buntings.
Looks nice from the outside
Poor selection, cramped, just no appealing
