Light and very useful
I decided to get the Maxi- Cosi Micro AP as i had gotten the BabyJogger GT, and wanted to make a travel system. Read reviews of how some babies did not like it or will cry, my baby cried initially, but after a while ( 2 weeks) she got used to it. It is light enough for me and my wife to sometimes just carry it out with baby inside to cafe's, and love how it clicks on to the BabyJogger GT ( you need and attachment for that ). think it weights about 4.7kg or something. My wife who had a c- section was able to carry it too without much problems. (...She told me she went to the doctor and just carried the Capsule cause it was so much easier) Baby is now 2 months but still fits in it and think she might be in there for another 4 more months. I got it from David Jones when it was on Sale.
Capsule is good, after sales service for repair is terrible
We used the capsule for the full six months and really liked it. Our baby was comfortable and it was so convenient. However, the button to release the shoulder straps was faulty and needed replacement (didn't release property so was a real struggle to undo each time). I made the decision to wait until my baby was big enough for the next seat as the capsule had to be sent off and I was not confident that they would be prompt. After sending the capsule off two months ago I have received it back today and it has NOT been fixed. I called 'hire for ...baby', who are responsible for repairs on behalf of the manufacturer, and they told me the strap has been replaced. That has never been the issue. The button clearly needs replacing and we communicated that very clearly from the start. I am still waiting for them to get back to me. I'm writing this to warn other parents - if you do buy this capsule and need warranty repairs prepare yourself to have to wait. And given the capsule can only be used 0-6 months, that is totally unacceptable.
Guaranteed sleep for my baby
We hired this capsule in January and will be returning it in a couple of weeks and purchasing a convertible car seat. Our son loves this seat and combined with the movement of the car, would fall asleep in the first 5 minutes without fail. The main thing I don't like about this capsule is the weight. I'm a petite person and found this heavy. As my son has grown it's made getting the capsule in and out of the car a challenge. In the last couple of months I've resorted to leaving it in the car and carrying my baby to and from it, having to wake h...im up in the process, but saving my back. When he was much smaller we did take it out of the car and attach to his pram. It does take a little bit of practice getting it in and out of the car but once you know the angle, it's easy. The sun shade is very flimsy and the safety harness gets in they way of it. The seat padding is a catch 22 as my baby was very snug in it, but on a hot day it's a sweat box. I haven't got any experience with other baby capsules and assume I'd probably find most of them heavy and awkward to carry. Hiring this capsule for 7 months cost us a fraction of the retail price ($235). Thankfully we didn't have any car accidents so can't say how well this capsule would protect a child from serious injury.
Handy for the first two months or so
My newborn hated to sleep. He would only sleep in my arms or in this capsule! He did 2-3 hours at times which is a lifesaver when you are sore and sleep deprived. It looks so comfy and the slight incline is great for a reflux baby. Nice to be able to move a newborn around too when they are so fragile if you need to go somewhere, especially with the pram adaptors. As for cons - expensive yes. Heavy once the baby gets heavy of course - not good for birth recovery! and my 25th percentile baby is 3.5 months and it's a tight fit already. Regardless of the cons it was worth it for me if I can use it for two kids and resell after.
Difficult to use, hot, awful customer service
- I struggle to think of a single thing...
- It passes the critical safety feature tests on childcarseats.com.au (but didn't do well on other items)
- Baby can be moved in and out of car in seat with pram attachment (see the bad points re heat and adaptors)
- Rear facing so baby can see you in pram
- Whew! AUD400. Heavy hit to the hip pocket
- Only good for 6 months
- Difficult to insert/ remove/ attach to pram ...
Baby hates it!
My baby does not get on with this capsule, trying to get her in and out is a struggle as the space is so compact and she overheats so quickly - she's always sweaty and red faced when we take her out no matter how much air con is on. I think the positioning leaves her feeling cramped and means it defeats the purpose of having it attach to the pram as we always have to get her out as soon as we stop. Attachment is easy so a real shame.
Poorly constructed, the quailty isnt there as claimed!
Purchased a new one for my new born ( worst decision ever) for the price we paid it isn't worth. Poor construction, hard the line up with pram adaptors as the whole capsule flexes. If you want to remove seat belts for cleaning they dont come out easy at all which is a design floor for someone that likes to keep the capsule clean especially if the baby vomits! They are over rated and well over priced, cheap and not made for convenient cleaning or Manoeuvring . Very disappoint and not recommended at all, dont waste you money and do your research and inspection of quality, ours had sticks over the strap hole where it looks to be a miss cut
Hi I was wondering if I purchase a maxi cosy mico AP capsule will it fit in my icandy strawberry? Also will I have to buy separate parts for the pram. I bought the pram in 2013 so it's the old I can't strawberry pram not the new one. thank you
Not sure it was worth it
We bought the maxi-cosi mico AP as it was able to be used with the pram I wanted. Unfortunately given the weight of the capsule with baby in it (he was only 3.2 at birth) I couldn't lift it as was advised by midwife it would be too heavy and risk damaging pelvic floor. I relied on my husband to lift it in and out of the car for the first few weeks and then just took baby out of capsule and used the pram. We should've just gone with a car seat as baby got very hot quickly when in the capsule and would wake often when we got inside and out of the...moving car anyway. Also at about 8 weeks old he started screaming whenever being put in it. As we have two cars we bought another car seat and we have no problems putting him in that one. Baby is now 3 months and 50 percentile for height and weight and already comes up to the line indicating he is too big for the capsule. A lot of money spent and I wish I had just spent it on a bassinet for the pram instead.
Great capsule! Lasted longer than my old one
This is a great capsule. It's comfy and my bub (who is quite tall) lasted 5 months in it. My daughter barely lasted 2 months in our old capsule. Bub enjoys beinh in it and falls asleep very easily in this capsule. As with all capsules it's great being able to bring bub in and out of the car without waking him. I also got the adapters to attach it to my pram. It's life saving! There are a few cons. The capsule gets really hot in summer. It's a very heavy capsule and it takes up a lot of space. We don't have a small car but we still had to push t...he passenger seat all the way forward. It also took a while to get the hang of getting it into and out of the car. Clicking it into place in particular took a lot of practice. I had a premature baby and I also couldn't get the straps tight enough around him to start off with. And finally it's very expensive. If you were buying it to use for more than one kid it'd definitely be worth it. Just watch out for hot weather!
Good capsule, happy I bought it
We bought the Maxi Cosi Mico AP Isogo capsule for our son & have been overall very happy with it. Our son was premi & is very small for his age. We have used it for the last 10mths however, he has now outgrown it. I mainly bought it as it was compatible with my Uppababy pram.
Easy to click into base & remove from base quietly
Easily adjustable harness
Nice & roomy for Bub
Compatible with several pram systems (usually with adapters to attach)
Very easy to click into Uppababy pram with adapters
CONS ...This is a very long capsule - I have a Mazda CX-5 & have to have the passenger seat pulled quite far forward for the capsule to fit behind. Nowhere to store tether strap when it's not in use Canopy can fall back quite easily Quite expensive however, I feel I will get good value as will use for next child Installation instruction manual is VERY confusing Despite the CONS which were mostly minor grievances, I am happy I bought a capsule as it allowed me to travel easily with my baby especially in the early days. This capsule clicks quietly in/out of car base & pram which allowed my son to sleep through shopping/car trips. as we have been able to use it for a decent period of time with our son I feel it has been value for money.
Excellent capsule, couldn't live without it
I love our Maxi Cosi Mico AP Air Protect capsule, which I use in conjunction with our Quinny Moodd pram base. So easy to take in and out of the car, simple attachment to the pram, slots in securely and off we go. Can transfer him from car to pram without waking him, easily. I even use the capsule in the house to settle my baby, he's so snug in there he always falls asleep! In the first 2 weeks, it totally saved me. Highly recommended.
There are a few features to this capsule that end up defeating the point of it, which is being able to transfer a sleeping baby from car seat, to pram and to the house and vice versa. The first is that when moving the handle from upright to behind the seat, it often gets stuck on the sun shade and is quite fiddly. The second is that there isn't anywhere to secure the anchor strap, and it often ends up falling into my son's face. Thirdly, it can be fiddly to click into the base or to my City Select pram. These three things often result in waking...my son up. He also hates being in the capsule, he cries as soon as I buckle him in because it is quite tight. I have to dress him very lightly to put him in it because it is tight and also very hot. Even since he was first born. The sun shade also falls back easily. If I were to be a FTM again, I don't think I would bother with this capsule as it is quite expensive for short term use and was not as convenient as I had hoped.
As a new mother I was sure that I didn't need a capsule and car seat would do. I was wrong. The Maxi Cost capsule was a life changer for us. My daughter was 4 weeks prem and absolutely hated the car seat. She would wake up to go in and out. The capsule changed everything, I can now move her whilst asleep in and out of the car as well as greater flexibility if I need to go out in general. With the adaptors it fits on my Joolz pram. Sometimes getting it on and off is a little stiff, but this slight irritation is nothing compared to the upside. Love it and would recommend to all new mums. We bought the Isofix version which made it easy to install in the car ourselves.
Great safety but base fail
We have had constant issues with the capsule not clicking into the base easily for 8 weeks. Some days it's ok and others I spend way too long trying with other people having a go to no avail also. This morning I have not been able to get it in at all and am therefore stranded at home. I can't take it back to the shop as I can't secure my baby to drive there so I'm stuck. Not happy!

What reviewers thought
They found the Maxi-Cosi Mico AP capsule to be easy to use and comfortable for their children since they could transport them without waking them. It was easy to click in and out of the car, attach to a compatible pram and to keep clean. Sometimes, the fabric does not cool sufficiently on hot days, making them uncomfortable for babies.
