Very good, but disappointing user manual
EDIT, please read all the way through for an updated happy ending.
I originally bought a Zodiac CX35 online and was so excited to use it for the first time. Found I was happy enough until it broke within 7 days.. got an error code and it refused to move. Sent it back for a refund.
This time around I wanted to do a little more research before buying something and all roads pointed toward the Dolphin because it was tough, dependable, had finer filters and was nav intelligent apparently. First thing I noted was that it has two filter canisters n...ot just one! Where no one ever actually mentioned online whatsoever so that was a complete surprise. Also has two types of changeable filters, one I'm guessing 100 micron and a finer type. Very cool. The Zodiac only had a 200 micron (or pay an additional $80 for 100 micron) where silt would blow through back into suspension clouding up the pool. The other thing I noticed was the Zodiac impeller was actually right in the middle of the filter basket, suspect to damage ... whereas the Dolphins is independent and won't be damaged by debris spinning through filtration. (Dolphin impeller after all filtration has been completed, Zodiac right in the centre of the filters) It's definitely built tougher, which is good and seems to do a decent job of navigating the pool. I do notice it climbs the walls in the same three or four spots and can't quite make it up the steeper starting corner slopes where none of the rollers or tracks make forward contact but no robotic cleaners would. (fwiw I have a fibreglass pool and bought the WB model with foam rollers). It doesn't seem to get to the waterline much after the first few minutes, as soon as there's a little bit of matter inside the filters it stops climbing and slips as it tries to climb up before reversing back down with even the 100 micron filter installed, and I mean miniscule amount of debris in the filters (I thoroughly clean these each time), it just seems to become too heavy but so did the Zodiac as well, maybe all robotics do this? I've tried adjusting the float positions but it hasn't seemed to make a difference at all. Is it possible because my fibreglass pool is sprayed blue the shop should have sold me the CB model? In the manual it states: WB for tile and ceramics, online states also fibreglass so who knows It does pick up everything, but only if I sweep the silt down to bottom off the higher ledges. It does knock some down on it's descent if it can climb the particular area which I can tell was cleverly and purposely designed. It leaves a few small piles of silt on some of the curves/corners and stairs where my pool is strange and street shaped but I can live with that, no robot would be able to get that, it's only very small amounts.

Great cleaner with easy to empty filters!
I have a large 80,000 litre Pebble Crete pool and it cleans it perfectly every time. I put it in once every week or two as required. The cartridge type filters are easy to remove and clean.

Makes the resort lifestyle easy!
What a great cleaning unit the Dolphin M400 is! Easy to use, easy to maintain and it has its own trolley to relax in when it’s not hard at work cleaning the pool.
Gets right up to the waterline and steps.

Seems like a winner
Early days but very impressed so far. Picks up much more than our previous suction cleaner. Seems very easy to operate and emptying the waste compartments is an absolute breeze

Amazing Product M400
I purchased my Matronics M400 yesterday from Brisbane Pool.
My previous M400 had died after 7 years of solid service without ever having one fault. My new M400 is perfect and does such a wonderful job keeping my pool sparkling clean. I have lots of trees and leaves, but this model is absolutely perfect and does a wonderful job cleaning floor, walls and waterline. Its a really good quality build and I would recommend anyone to buy this model.

Never have seen the pool so clean in my life!
I've been using a suction pool cleaner for a while, and I've gone through about 5 of them. They're annoying to operate and restrict the features of your pool's pump system. I then came across the Maytronics Dolphin M400. It was the first time I'd seen a robotic pool cleaner in action, and I thought it was pretty amazing. I took a free demo and was amazed to find my pool sparkling clean when it was finished. The robot isn't cheap, but it's worth it. I highly recommend this product.

I love our Dolphin, can't live without it!
We had actually ordered a different robot pool cleaner when we built our pool until my friends told us about the Dolphin. They had done a lot of research, so we decided to change to the Dolphin Supreme M4 and I'm so glad we did!!! It climbs the walls and spends a couple of hours vacuuming the pool, we usually chuck it in the water at night after we've finished swimming and it goes about it's job cleaning the pool so we get up in the morning and it's sparkling clean, ready for us to swim!
It's a fantastic product that cuts out soooo much of the work of owning a pool. I now recommend the dolphin to everyone I know who owns a pool!!!
Purchased in February 2015 for $2,500.00.
Our pool looks amazing with minimal effort!
The M400 is easy to use, the filters are easy to clean, it’s runs for 2 hours straight, it climbs the walls of the pool to the top lip, it even cleans our spa including the straight edge seats! It’s perfect for people who don’t have hours to waste on cleaning, worth every cent!
Purchased in March 2019 at Traralgon heating for $2,100.00.
Great pool cleaner it does what it suppose too and leaves my pool nice and clean when finished ( glass pebble)
I usually leave the fine debry basket in as my pool gets alot of dust & settles to the bottom, this Dolphin cleans it right up no worries!
What would of been nice on this model is an app to control manual navigation/ cycle time/ and clean modes, should be a standard thing on this model range.
Happy with my Dolphin M400.

After dealing with pool cleaners and the like which was a rip off and stressful, I finally bought a Dolphin. It is a revolution in pool maintenance ... just magic and has made owning a pool a pleasure.
Purchased in December 2018 for $2,000.00.
Love my Dolphin!!
My Dolphin M400 has been life changing - no more untangling the old robot driven by the booster pump and no more manual vacuuming! Easy to use, covers every part of the pool floor and picks up everything the gum and jacaranda trees can throw at it.
I leave the super-fine filters on there all the time and they’re great for collecting everything from big bits down to the fine sediments that get blown into the pool. The pool is kept nice and clean by running the Dolphin once a week and it’s east to flush out afterwards - the filters pop out and can be hosed down. Note it is a heavy unit though, especially when you first lift it out and it’s full of water.
Overall I’d highly recommend if you’re in the market for a new robot!

Great robotic pool cleaner
Our pool builder recommended to use a robotic pool cleaner on handing over the pool. They in fact brought in Robotic pool cleaner (Non-Maytronic product) and demonstrated. During the demonstration (~2 hours) at least three times the robot toppled over and stopped working. Later we had a demonstration of M400 by a rep from Maytronics Australia agent. M400 was far superior to Non-Maytronic robot. We’re very happy with our decision. It is a great small tool which makes our life much comfortable.
M400, runs for about 2.5 - 3 hours. (time – nonadju...

Fantastic pool cleaner
This is my second robotic pool cleaner after using a number of suction hose type pool cleaners over the last 20 years of pool ownership. My very first robotic cleaner was superior to the suction hose cleaners that I’d previously used but it didn’t always clean up the fine silt that sometimes settled at the bottom of my pool. This previous model also had other shortcomings in that the cable badly twisted and the baskets were clunky to remove, clean and replace. Anyway after several years of loyal service it died. (I was kind of relieved). After ...lots of research and the offer of a free trial I settled on a Maytronics S200 pool cleaner and was immediately impressed from the get go. On its very first use it charged through the silt and other random leaf litter in my very large pool and sucked everything up. It did the same along the walls and after a couple of runs, lasting about 2-3 hours each cycle, it cleaned the entire pool surface including the ledges and steps. It is also very easy to clean the unit afterwards as the basket lifts out using its folding handle and the fine mesh holds all of the silt and micro debris as I walk to the tap to give it a rinse. In summary, I highly recommend this product. It wasn’t cheap and I was tempted at time of purchase to explore less expensive products but glad I resisted to avoid anything inferior to my S200. I can’t remember when I last used a pool scoop to clean my pool and my new S200 robotic cleaner has certainly made my pool maintenance a lot easier. (I do not have any association in any way with Maytronics or pool retail or associated industry. I offer my comments in good faith to assist anyone contemplating the purchase of a good robotic pool cleaner).

No sick days or personal time required
After deliberating long and longer, it seemed that all roads and opinions led back to the Dolphin. If you want the Rolls Royce of pool cleaners, then this is the one to get. The local distributor was kind enough to come on up and demo it for me, and after seeing the M400 in action, I just bought it. Now, if you are like me, then $2,000 for a pool cleaner just seamed way too much, to spend. At first, there was no way I could justify it, but I have to say, no regrets.
It is made very well and performs equally well. It is supplied with a set of...

Questions & Answers
Can anyone tell me what the different positions of the handle?
What position does the handle have to be to up the walls?
Thanks any help would be appreciated
Carolyn. if you offset the floats (handle) so they are at an angle (left slant or right slant), the unit will go sideways on the surface against the tiles. if they are aligned the unit just stays vertical.
Hi Carolyn, Shane is correct. When changing the direction of the handle, the robot will take this direction, especially when cleaning at waterline level.
Hi, thanks for that
Do you know if there is any written documentation that shows the different positions of the handle and what it achieves?
I have an m400 and it was working fine. Took it out of pool to clean and put it back in. Now it doesn't turn on. Light is on the power supply but nothing happens.
Hi Shaggy38. Thank you for reaching out.
If you Dolphin M400 is not working correctly, it is recommended to check its impeller and drive system for any obstruction/s that may be contributing to its performance. If these areas are clear, assessment is then recommended to determine the issue.
Please visit us at https://maytronics.com.au/support/find-a-dealer/ to locate the closest agent to your location that is able to assist.
What would stop one side of the brushes from moving?
Thank you for reaching out.
There may be an obstruction in the track that can cause this from happening or it may also be an issue with the drive motor.
