total rubbish

published

cord broke second time of use, repaired under warranty after a lot of messing about, bugger to start! tried all the hacks but no joy, spend more time trying to start it than using it. Never buy this brand again

Purchased in January 2020 at Mitre 10 for $300.00.

Quite good but a bit heavy

published

Have used it for a few years now, initially only light work. It failed to start at first then broke cord - all in first month of use. Repaired under warranty and tip provided for starting was press fuel primer 25-30 times, followed this process ever since and starts every time even if it has sat for a few months. Now using it with brushcutter head and still reliable and powerful, just quite a lot of vibration with the steel head instead of line trimmer. The bump head works well. My only complaint is its weight, it replaced an echo trimmer that was purchased in the late 80's and I would say the echo was half the weight.

Good solid machine

Bought a straight shaft this time around much easier to use then a bent shaft. For domestic use there is plenty of power very easy to start runs like a dream! 1/40 fuel to oil mix which is fairly unusual. Happy trimming guys $195 from Harvey Norman don't buy for commercial use.
Easy to start, plenty of curry
Fairly heavy compared to my old stihl

What a load of rubbish!

published

Hard to start! Wouldn't run and stalled when throttle opened.I threw it up the lawn when it would not start from day 1! Perservered for three uses then took it back to point of sale. Very angry!! Eventually machine returned and has had a new carburetter and manifold fitted under warranty. Seems to be fixed with easy starting now and good throttle response. Yet to try it in anger on a real cutting job but hopeful. Seems like really poor quality control from factory. I would not recommend.
The brand name.
Hard to start. Stalled when throttle opened. OK after warranty repairs

Used it first time on large sloping block It started easy and worked perfectly never used full throttle once as soon as you remove from carton you can sense qualityI found the engine more than adequate compared to my 33cc which went straight into the bin Looking forward to using the grass blade on the ruff at the top of the block
Easy start system

Rubbish

published

Has not worked properly since i bought it.
Mixed the fuels religiously at 40 to 1as per recommendations using a measuring spoon.
Even bought a new container for fuel
It idles just fine until you try to increase the revs then it coughs splutters and farts unbelievably
Checked spark plug ETC.
Even tried fuel from different outlets and different octane ratings.
TAKE MY TIP DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
IT'S GOING BACK TOMORROW

It seems like everything

My McCulloch MT260 CLS whipper snipper will not start the rope pull is too strong to pull. Does anyone know how I can fix this and start the motor?

Hi Herbert,
I assume that the rope pull used to work. Has the motor been run too lean and seized up due to lack of oil in the fuel? Or the rope pull mechanism is stuck. Sounds like a trip to the nearest small machine doctor may be in order. Unless you feel capable to start pulling things apart yourself. If the shaft drive has seized it would also stop the motor from being pulled. Can you pull the rope out slowly and turn the motor? Good luck JR
