Worst bank experience in 25 years
My Odyssey in Bankingland
Three times i had to resend a discharge form for a sttlement of our property in Brisbane. MEBank has never confirmed or otherwise if documents sent were in order. A week later - we called them (40-45 mins) and were informed that we had to resend documents again (it was our inexperience). One would think that bank will get back to you by email or phone to let you know? Not really. It was entirely our problem
---second call (just under 40 mins) a representative went through our forms and confirmed several times that ev...
Customer service does not exist
When trying to close out mortgages there is always a delay even after being given six weeks notice. Each time they have blamed someone else however taking the opportunity to charge the extra interest. This has happened three times. It appears to be a trend.
Frustrating customer service
I've hated dealing with ME Bank since my broker used them for my home loan. They consistently give advice for the wrong product, or only partial answers for another product. I've asked them to investigate advice I was given over the phone and they ignore the question. They refuse to acknowledge that I can't access their phone service due to disability trying to push everything through a case manager that won't help. Email assistance turn around time can be a high as 10 business days and due to partial or generic advice mean a further 10 days ...as you try to get them to answer. Assisted calls mean a wait of 30 minutes to 2 hours if you don't get cut off or hung up on. Some of this I could absorb if the product was worth it but my loan interest rate is more than twice that of other banks and I've already negotiated They have no interest or respect for their customers eg: when I was taking out my loan I was called "dude" by a representative multiple times. The silly jokey ads are not marketing. They are really treating you like a joke. I hope that the acquisition by Bank of Qld will clear this out. Time to leave
Most expensive rates in the country
Just got a letter saying my home loan rate is increasing to 4.3% . Logged into internet banking to call and get pictures of fake chattering teeth . Are your customers a joke to you.
Hopeless customer service at this bank!
I am now refinancing with another bank after the poor I received from Me Bank last year. I have a home investment loan with them which I had to pause repayments during Covid restrictions. Due to the poor training of their call centre staff, I was treated like I was in default and you always wait at least 20 minutes to talk to someone. I lodged a complaint with the banking ombudsman and in the end, they offered $200 to settle my complaint.
ME is for you if you want a breathtakingly incompetent, totally disorganised banker, loose with the truth and has many hands...none of which know what any of the others are doing. We changed banks based on word of mouth, we should have read the reviews and stayed put. We applied to move loans to ME in early October, 2020. After an incredible amount of misdirection and false starts one loan was completed after 2 months of daily interventions and much anxiety for us. The other was settled after lies, numerous broken settlement dates in mid- Janua...ry 2021, over 3 months after the application. So what? The loan repayment date began a week ago but the money has still not appeared in my account even after written promises! I am clearly expected to pay for money not received. I should have bought shares in ME instead, great investment when a bank only takes repayments without lending. Maybe this is ME's version of a reverse mortgage. A Mr Adam Crane was appointed as CFO of ME Bank December 2020 to "lead ME's business strategy" (ME website) as he has, in the past, driven "change, improvement and innovation". Well, no-one is running this shop. I'm off to AFCA and the Ombudsman with a formal complaint. Caveat emptor! Want a loan? Go elsewhere.

Would not recommend an investment loan
Loyal customer for 5 years tried to negotiate lower rates as paying well above average. Interest free period has also ended. Was advised that it would be easy to reapply for interest only, but rejected. So now stuck paying high rate and principle. I have a second loan with another bank that I am paying a significantly lower rate with and interest only. ME Bank have passed on a small cut, but interest rates are already high so still well above a fair amount. I would never recommend this bank to anyone, my broker can't even deal with them anymore so I have had to myself.
Interest rates remains high
Borrowed from ME in 2001, the interest rate at the time was competitive as an owner occupier the interest rate currently (July 2020) is 4.47%. Conversations with ME about the interest rate have been to no avail and the costs involved in refinancing have made the option unviable. I have always made repayments on time and have a spotless credit report. Never again.
Good initial offer BUT difficult and extremely time consuming communications
For an investment property loan ME was absolutely a pain to deal with. At the end of my initial term I wanted to continue with interest only payments. I submitted many documents over after their many requests over several weeks then to be rejected.
Call centre staff rude and incompetent
We have been trying to get rate reduction correspondence sent out over the past 2 months. We need this information for both our accountant and the ATO. Five times we have rung and messaged Me bank to ask why we haven't received mail that was promised to be sent out via express post, only to be told it was never ever coded into the system. but they will message you to say it has been posted numerous times. We have also rung and emailed 4 times asking for redraw monies to be reversed only to be told again it was never ever coded into system.......Why is the call centre taking calls and never entering or coding it into the system .... but the worse thing of all is l stated l was a loyal customer of nearly 30 years and on a disability pension only to be laughed at and belittled. Absolute contempt for there customers able or disabled. I am sick of getting discriminated against by this Bank and its call centre. They really need to be held accountable for there poor attitude and treatment of all customers whether disabled or able bodied..

they have taken money from my account,
took money from my redraw no notice no contact, the people you speak to after hours on the phone, just spin what they have been told, this bank is just like the big banks now, they need to be investigated wirth a royal commission, Mark,
Money missing from our redraw account. When I asked where it is? Because it wasn’t in our savings account and it didn’t come off the principal. They said “it had been absorbed into the loan” bloody thieves.
MEBANK Was Not The Bank For Me
I applied for a home loan and the amount of paperwork (including bank and income statements) that I needed to lodge was ridiculous. Six months of bank statements, including child support transactions, etc. The final straw came when I was already an existing customer - at the time of the new application - I already had an account with MEBANK, and because I did not physically meet face to face with the mobile lender whom I was dealing with at the time, they wanted me to submit paperwork at AUST POST with photocopy of drivers license. That ident...ification process wasnt good enough because I had an Middle Initial that wasnt noted down in my original account with MEBANK. I had to supply them with a Birth Certificate. All these personal documents were submitted to a central location, which any staff member working within the area had access to - all my personal details could have been picked by up two to three people. All I know is that having sent an email I received notification from an individual other than the person from MEBANK with with whom I was originally dealing with. So there was a lot of emails going to and fro - particularly when asking for clarification on documents or personal information the bank needed. I felt that this bank put me through so many hurdles and unnecessary against to secure a loan. What really annoyed me was that I was already an existing customer with them - which they took no consideration into this loan process. I also felt I was dealing with a bunch of incompetent baffons who really were following company protocols and had to seek clarification from their superiors when you as a potential customer had questions to ask. No streamline process here - no one point of contact - no designated member to your application and several bank individuals privy to your personal data. In the end I went to another Bank - without the stress, drama and hassle experienced with MEBANK, and I recommend that others explore other options out there, even the rate I secured was better than what was offered by MEBANK.

ME Bank is becoming more like a lender of last resort - Beware
Have a loan that's just come off its fixed rate and been a customer of ME bank for 5 years. No problems of note in that time. However was recently confronted by a smug, condescending individual on the phone that showed zero empathy and willingness to assist. Basically it seems ME will hook you in with decent, even low rates then hit existing customers with higher than acceptable rates at first opportunity. I went from 3.69% fixed for 3 years to now, 4.20% variable P&I!! This is in an environment where the official cash rate is 0.75% people! They are refusing to budge and my only option is: fix now or else. I know which option I'll be taking and will vote with my feet. Such a pity because I didn't contemplate leaving.
Uncompetitive interest rates
Customer service has generally been good overall. Interest rates are much lower with other banks/mortgage brokers so I have refinanced an existing home loan only to experience a long delay in ME sorting out the discharge.
Having been with ME since the 90's it's disappointing to see non competitive interest rates in the current lending market and also various addition of fees over the years together with a long wait time currently for a simplistic discharge process.
On that note I would recommend looking at other options online. Many online len...
