ME Bank Home Loans (page 2 of 5)
Worst bank and customer service
Did a construction loan with ME Bank, sent application through for stage one payment as well as requested documents for the bank to be told it’s been completed and funds will be in building account in 24 hours to then receive a call a week later saying we can’t pay the builder due to a discrepancy with no explanation or detailed reason why. I have been calling everyday for the past month to be told the same thing over and over again that a team leader will call me, I am get to receive any phone call from the team leader or any explanation of what is going on even though we have settled the loan more then 2 months ago. Do not waste you time with this bank!

Absolutely disappointing!!
Long waits on the phone, online app is very basic and crashes all the time, very long time to process requests. I was expecting good customer service because it's a small bank but overall it's been very disappointing

Very average customer service
I have been with them now for some years but find them particularly average in their customer service. Long waits on the phone ("due to overwhelming demand....") when we all know it's about cost cutting. This bank is supposedly owned by unions and industry super funds which is good but from the customer point of view there is no difference. They couldn't care less and are no better than Westpac, NAB etc. Any letter or email I have written to them has been ignored. I think it's time to move my loan as they aren't even that competitive.

Messed around
Had verbal pre-approval from an ME representative to buy a house more than a year ago. Good loyal client with strong savings record. Borrowing well within limits. Permanent, covid-safe job. Recently successfully bid at auction, subject to finance (14 days). ME messed us around for 5 weeks and then finally said no. No real explanation, nothing in writing.
Many others would have lost their deposit at that point. Fortunately a rival bank has been very helpful. Stress was increased by a lack of communication. We had to do all the following up with ...

Home loans
It was a bad home loan experience for me. After the the 3 yr fixed period they increased the rates twice while industry rates were going down. They would not negotiate on the rates until I had already decided to change lenders and I gave them ample opportunities. I would not recommend them.
Disgraceful bank
Mebank ripped me off, charging $400 on top of a high rate. When I stopped them taking my $400 they increased interest to 4.75%. 11 years as a customer. Scum.

Interest rates remains high
Borrowed from ME in 2001, the interest rate at the time was competitive as an owner occupier the interest rate currently (July 2020) is 4.47%. Conversations with ME about the interest rate have been to no avail and the costs involved in refinancing have made the option unviable. I have always made repayments on time and have a spotless credit report. Never again.

Good initial offer BUT difficult and extremely time consuming communications
For an investment property loan ME was absolutely a pain to deal with. At the end of my initial term I wanted to continue with interest only payments. I submitted many documents over after their many requests over several weeks then to be rejected.

The worst experience I have ever had
I recently sold my house - mortgage was with ME. Buyer was financing through ME. At settlement I was told that the extra funds after sale could not be put into my ME savings account and I would need to pick up a cheque. Once I picked up the cheque (A bank cheque as it was from Westpac ME) I banked it at the post office. It was a long weekend so waited to Tuesday to call ME and ask them to clear the cheque. I had the name of the buyer so they could verify that the cheque that was banked was in fact the same amount as settlement. I was told they ...
Read morecan't clear it. I asked for a special answer again I was told they can't do that when it's banked at the post office ( I don't live in Melbourne). I said well when will it clear? I was told 10 days due to clear on the 16th June. Apparently covid 19 was the reason for the delay in clearing . I said that was disgusting seeing as all banks can clear cheques in 4 days even though it was covid 19 - nothing they can do I was told. I asked to speak to the complaints area. I was told they would take my details and let them know. If a bank wants to service all of Australia they really do need to fix the system - this was disgusting. I never heard from the complaints area so emailed the Customer Advocate (2 business days to get back to me the return email said) I wait 5 days and emailed them again and was sent an email saying someone will get back to me today. In the mean time I called to ask for a letter to say that the cheque would actually be clearing on the 16th as I had something urgent I was purchasing and needed the money by the 17th. After another 2 phone calls I got the letter. So on the 16th the cheque didn't clear - I was told it was due to clear but hadn't and again nothing could be done. I don't normally go off at people they are the messengers but by this stage I was really frustrated and angry that I had the letter from ME but it was worth nothing. On the 17th I got all my money out of ME and will never go back to them. I do want to say I did finally get a free electronic transfer and interest credit for the time my money was in a nil interest account - Thank you Ben who finally helped me. To date I have not heard from Customer Advocate - they have sent emails asking for my phone number (which is on my account) and an email saying the issue had been resolved to let them know it that was incorrect which I have done.Find out how ME Bank Home Loans compares to other Home Loans

Call centre staff rude and incompetent
We have been trying to get rate reduction correspondence sent out over the past 2 months. We need this information for both our accountant and the ATO. Five times we have rung and messaged Me bank to ask why we haven't received mail that was promised to be sent out via express post, only to be told it was never ever coded into the system. but they will message you to say it has been posted numerous times. We have also rung and emailed 4 times asking for redraw monies to be reversed only to be told again it was never ever coded into system......
Read more. Why is the call centre taking calls and never entering or coding it into the system .... but the worse thing of all is l stated l was a loyal customer of nearly 30 years and on a disability pension only to be laughed at and belittled. Absolute contempt for there customers able or disabled. I am sick of getting discriminated against by this Bank and its call centre. They really need to be held accountable for there poor attitude and treatment of all customers whether disabled or able bodied..- 2 reviews

Shocking customer service
ME bank did not call back for two weeks to discuss quotes or provide pay out figure. Subsequent calls were delayed with related customer service agents not helpful. Call back never happened.
Robbed, then received apology and company action corrected
I had 11,800 in redraw facility. ME reduced it unilaterally, with no apology, explanation or contact. Waited over an hour to get a rep on the phone. Told I could apply for a top up at a cost of $250 to get access to more money. But it’s my money, not theirs. Using that logic, ME should be paying me $250 for “borrowing” without my consent, the money I had placed in the account surplus to requirement to pay the loan.
Following the public outcry, ME bank contacted me both in writing and by phone, apologising profusely for their ill considered ac...
Read moretion. All my concerns were addressed and ME Bank has undertaken to replace the moneys taken from my redraw facility. This has resulted in my regaining much confidence in a financial institution that I had been very happy with prior to the events of the last couple of weeks.Find out how ME Bank Home Loans compares to other Home Loans

ME HOME LOANS
Been with ME for a while now, place money into mortgage account to draw down the abominable interest rate they charge.
Logged into my account and found they had taken $3500 without a single word, then I receive a letter in the mail stating that they’ve made changes to their withdrawal facility. They think I’m at risk of withdrawing all my money and I would get into financial stress.
It states the only change is the degree to which I can dip back into my loan for funds. My new redraw amount is now $.
I will be paying off my home loan and moving all my money to another bank. I suggest others do this as well as I can no longer trust ME. As far as I’m concerned this is fraud.

ME Bank took $ 7643 from my Offset Account without warning or my permission
During this coronavirus pandemic where bank customers may need to access their own funds ME Bank have just swept through a large number of their customers' offset accounts and taken significant sums of money with no warning and paid that off against their home loan - apparently sending a letter out that was way too late to warn anyone what they were going to do (I haven't received mine) and no doubt deliberately planned that way. Money that was part of my nest egg in case of a rainy day.
I am now retired and have banked with them for many year...
Read mores before I retired and after this sly and sneaky act would never recommend them to anyone ever again. Warning - do not bank with ME bank unless you like having them raid your offset home loan money whenever they see fit. I will be complaining to the Banking Ombudsman as will many thousands of their customers who are currently complaining on Facebook as well. A Class Action is being discussed but Customers have to complain on social media because you cannot communicate with the Bank itself unless you are prepared to wait on hold for ever or for an email or return phone call that doesn't happen.- 2 reviews

Worst of the Worst
I have been a customer with Me Bank for over thirty years. Noticed last week about redraw issues with our two home loans.. I rang the day it was adjusted and got treated like an idiot ... Just because I am on a disability pension doesn't mean I am on life support and brain dead. Our second issue, they were going to reduce our interest rates on both our loans as well or we were going to go to another bank... Still waiting for our rate reductions 3 weeks later... Me bank have no respect or regard for customers ... they treat customers with disab...
Read moreilities with absolute contempt .. You have lost our loyalty and respect.. We have numerous family members that have all been long term customers and we are all in the process of switching banks ... We feel very sorry for all there customers that have lost there jobs and trying to deal with ME. We have been told some horror stories from friends trying to deal with them because of job loss. I used to actively promote Me's great customer service and rates, not any more .. Ever since they started trading under the ME Bank logo they are worse than the four big banks.... every thing you hear or read about the bank is right on the mark ...No customers service and treats customers like garbage... There computer system is old and unreliable .. Every time you ring its the some old thing, its the old computer issues excuse. I would trust the Bank of China before I trust Me bank again... Our loans will be paid out within the month and we are out the door, cant happen quick enough . Hoping they get investigated for failing to notify there customers before there redraw stunt, they blind sided thousands of customers with. Not one of our family members received a letter regarding the redraw issue. We have family all over OZ. If we could give minus 10 stars we would.Thieves
Money missing from our redraw account. When I asked where it is? Because it wasn’t in our savings account and it didn’t come off the principal. They said “it had been absorbed into the loan” bloody thieves.

Do Not Get A Home Loan With This Bank
Received a letter today telling me that my available redraw had been reduced over $10k but that quote".... the total amount outstanding and the time remaining on your home loan all remain the same." That is in spite of paying well over the minimum payment required for over 2 years. I will be complaining to Australian Financial Complaints Authority. I am just flabberghasted that a bank can decide to more or less take your extra funds without permission!

Couldn't care less.........
Delayed settlement on our sons mortgage due to lack of experience, is probably the best way to describe our unfortunate dealings with ME. As long term customers very disappointed with lack of response, having sent two emails of complaint, no replies.

Farcically Poor Service
We have our mortgage with ME Bank (in my wife's name) and we have been disappointed. We were provided with misinformation, and then when we requested clarification in writing our emails were ignored. We posted a document which they seemingly lost as three weeks later they asked for the original, even though they should have already had it.
Not everyone we spoke to was bad by any means which is the only reason they got two stars instead of one, we spoke to a couple of really friendly, helpful staff. But unfortunately one of those friendly chap...
Read mores gave us incorrect information, and another lady who was assessing our application for interest only had terrible phone manner and didn't seem to know what she was talking about. I must say I enjoy the irony of the industry super funds using anti-bank adverts to grow their membership, whilst simultaneously running their own for profit bank (quite badly judging by results), and providing poor customer service. Quite amusing really.- 4 reviews

Absolutely terrible - will raise your interest rate as soon as they can
Raise interest rate a month after signing up but lie and say they won't if you purchase their "member package", lost my paperwork prior to settlement which delayed it by days, delay processing your pay so you can't organise direct debits, send texts you have missed a mortgage payment when you haven't, statements don't accurately reflect each other even though all accounts are with Me. Will keep you in the phone forever and then laugh at you when you question their system their banking ap has constant glitches and is never up to date. I seriously regret going with them and will bail as soon as possible.
SERIOUSLY! DO NOT TOUCH!!
Delay! Delay! Delay! Get used to those words. This is the worst bank we have ever had to deal with, they charge numerous fees and give zero service, the terms of the loan were even incorrect, eg. frequency of repayment, fixed or variable. You can do bank to bank transfer out of their accounts, but don’t try to transfer in, they are NOT registered for that service. They outsource valuations, their solicitors, all with added fees. They do not communicate, they charge heaps and give worthless service.

One star too many!
ME, ME, ME - how apt!
Utterly pathetic follow up. Told things were done, only to find they weren't. Never got a call back when they promised. Never sent through paperwork when requested. Consistently having to chase up. Don't seem to understand the word 'urgency' unless it applies to them. Due to their contempt and lax ways, my family could be on the street as a result of a settlement falling through! They don't care. They really have become Australia's 5th largest bank. Welcome to the club ME Bank. You wont be hearing from me again!

ME Bank has become the 5th big bank
Too many fees and very inflexible. Delay releasing mortgages with excuses. Used to be a very good bank. Pity you became the 5th big bank. This is my second home loan and I am moving to Athena.

Poor Service Wasting Borrowers Time
ME Bank prides itself on working for you, I think ME means is working solely themselves deceitful and ignore customer must be apart of their customer service training.
We commenced chatting with ME broker and started application 6 weeks ago. Broker informed application process would be one week however it was two weeks when application was submitted to credit department. For 4 weeks we were not kept up to date of credit progress, we left voice messages, emails and text messages with both ME bank home loans and broker. We provided broker all do...
