I went to the Burnside Mecca Maxima on Saturday afternoon, 20th July 2019. I asked for a silicone based primer for liquid foundation. The girl recommended me the Mecca smoothing primer which, as it turns out, is WATER BASED and for POWDER foundation. Not so surprisingly, the primer doesn't work. Nor does the finishing spray... I called up to explain the faulty advice, and Mecca will offer me store credit but not a refund, despite the trust I placed in their staff's advice. I no longer trust Mecca as a makeup provider and will shop elsewhere.
I visited the Chermside store and was greeted (with a smile) by a lovely lady at front of store. She assessed my needs and advised me to proceed further into the store where she would have someone come and look after me. Within seconds, gorgeous Jesse came to assist me. I was looking for a 'brow pencil, crayon or pomade' however I have always had trouble finding the right shade. Jesse was warm, polite and genuine. She took the time to ask me my name while showing me all the options. I settled on the perfect 'crayon pencil' - Finally I have fou...nd the right shade ! Thank you Jesse (and the team at Chermside) for being so professional and polite. I highly recommend this store. Unfortunately Sephora did not offer the same service which felt like a department store however MECCA offered good old fashioned service, personalised and with a smile. Thanks again :)
I walked into the Charlestown Square store and asked to be matched to the correct shade of MAC Studio Fix Foundation. Despite my pink skinned Irish convict roots, the sales assistant looked at my wrist veins and told me I had warm toned skin, so I was matched to shade NC20 (I think). I made the purchase and walked out. Drove 3 hours home (as I was only in Newcastle for the day to get my car fixed), tested the shade and it was waaaay too yellow/orange for my skin tone. I wouldn't have been able to wear it without looking like an oompa loompa lol.... Maybe the girl meant to give me shade NW20, I don't know. As I was too far away to return the bottle for a refund, I had no choice but to flush the $54 spent down the drain. It's self-matching in-store for me from here on in.
Poor Customer Service
Staff was highly rude and very unhelpful with service, was told to look for the items myself. It appears to be a culture in Mecca organisation, other stores are very similar. With former workers complaining its inherent from upper management.
Like a candy store
I have used there website which I dont always like, as everytime there is a sale I feel they dont have much in stock levels. Id prefer to go into the store and find what I need plus i can try colours first before purchasing. Staff are always helpful.
Better than Sephora
I get used to purchased skincare and makeup from Sephora when I was in China. But when I come to Australia, I found the Sephora here is not covering as many brands and products as I expected. Instead, I was really impressed by Mecca, they contain almost the most updated products with good price for Nars and urban decay and too faced. I just grabbed my level 3 loop box from Mecca store, love the perfume they provided.
It's a bad policy, they have lost this customer
Mecca has a policy that I strongly disagree with pertaining to any limited edition items
If there is a limited edition item that it out of stock online you call your closest store, they will not hold it for even 5 min! They won't let you pay by credit card over phone, you have to take your chances and hope it's there when you go to their shop. If it's not in any store close to you you can't pay for it and have it shipped to you. If you live in the country or a far distance from any one of their shops they won't hold it. I live 1.5 hours from cl...
Warringah Mall staff are incredible and worth their weight in gold
I had a Beauty Loop MU appointment with Sia. What a babe she is! I was repeatedly told (without prompt) from many team members that I was in the best hands with Sia and I can’t disagree! Every detail in her work was just amazing. Even the little facial of products on my face was just heavenly before the MU. I honestly felt amazing. I haven’t felt this good since my wedding day. My skin was glowing, hydrated and looked fresh all night. My eyes were absolutely incredible. And my brows! Wow. Just sooo amazing. The only downside to this experience ...is that I need to buy everything she recommended me!!! The rest of the staff were just so lovely. I was offered a water by a number of team members and the service at the counter was just nothing but great too! I asked for advise on products and the team were knowledgeable and so kind. Credit to the team - they really should be applauded. Thank you!
Great customer service, lovely store!
The Mecca store at Macarthur Square is great, has plenty of products, never has too much of an issue with stock so far and the ladies that work there are always eager to help.
Chadstone Mecca Service
Went to Chadstone Mecca and received one slight smile. I was clearly looking for something. Store nearly empty more sales assistants than customers, yet no one asked if I needed help. Just walked out and ordered online from another supplier
Nothing to make up
Whilst it seems that whilst Mecca is touted as such a reputable brand and holds good make up for all customers, their service and more so after service really lacks.
Firstly, my wife bought some products in good faith and returned to store with cause to return because of allergic reaction to make up. Both by way of still evident on her face and photos.
To which she was abruptly stopped upon her request and advised this what testers are for in store.
She was told she could only exchange her products due to in store testers. So i’m Guessing i...f you don’t have an allergic reaction in store, too bad. My wife having come home dismayed and upset with this interaction, I contacted Mecca by email on December 18th, 2018 and am still waiting to this day Feb 7th without any reply. Therefore I suggest whilst products and brand/s may be good, buyer beware should something go wrong afterwards.
i went to Mecca Cosmetica Doncaster as no one approached me I asked for help from a young lady named Daniel , she was disinterested and lacked customer service skills, I then left very unhappy!
The lady at the front of the store was super friendly and helped me pick out some products which made my shopping experience much easier!
Quick and friendly check out process and i love the products

Good customer service
I have shopped many times from Mecca and I like their generous samples. No matter what you like the girls are always providing you with good information and samples of the product to try at home.
Have been shopping with Mecca for 5+ years they have now lost a long-term customer
As a long-term customer I am really shocked to see how Mecca has slowly been falling behind other retailers online and physical stores. Customer service do not respond to complaints and for this reason I began shopping at Sephora and online store Active Skin which both offer a lot more than what Mecca offers and much better prices/loyalty programs.
The Xmas casuals Mecca hires need proper training, I was in store a few weeks ago when trying to find the right foundation shade the girl told me to look through all the foundation colours myself ...until I found a colour I liked and she would give me a sample. Being on my lunch break I just wanted a quick colour match, she told me she could not provide this as it the colour match is subjective. I have never been told this in any cosmetic store before I was shocked, so I sifted through the foundations to find one I thought matched after getting the sample and trying it on at home it was about 2 shades too dark for my face and too yellow. I am terrible at picking the right shade which is why I asked for help on this, after this I went next door into Sephora where the girls could not be more helpful showing me multiple foundation brands, spending time finding the perfect shade and showing me how to find the right shade and giving me multiple foundation samples to try the new brands. Safe to say I am now a Sephora convert after being such a loyal Mecca customer for years. I am saving money, buying better products and getting much better service. The beauty loop boxes are hardly anything to be excited about as a level 3 member that previously spent $4000+ per year (crazy I know, tried everything for acne) the boxes are not worth spending any more money for they provide stuff that is normally a free sample as some kind of loyalty reward when you can get any of these samples just by walking in and asking. Mecca has nothing special anymore and if they don't have their customer service they will need to compensate with lower prices given that most brands can be purchased elsewhere in Australia now.
Great product range, great service.
I love shopping here.
Great product range, beautiful store, and friendly employees that are willing to help you with any questions you have.
Some stores are too small with not enough employees to deal with the traffic, but I have noticed they are upgrading and making stores bigger which is great.
Wish they had a rewards system like Sephora though, as Beauty Loop isn’t quite as good. I do enjoy the Boxes, but I get free samples with Sephora regardless.
