on website they say joint reconstruction is covered but it's not
went in for ACL reconstruction. I had to pay for excess, 50% of anesthetist, crutches, in theater x-ray and drugs. Their answer: you are not coverer for those specific item codes, doesn't matter if they are part of the ACL reconstruction procedure we said you are covered for. Very dishonest if you say I am covered I should be covered 100% otherwise put one of those asterisks you like a lot and say that some items might not be included.
Medibank = Daylight robbery
It looks like Medibank has stooped to an all time low this time around literally lying to their customers.
I tried to get reimbursed for a claim made in October 2020 (it's Jan 2021 as of writing this). I contacted Medibank to confirm that the claim would be reimbursed at least twice before we went ahead with the specific medical test. I've been following up with them for 2 months and 4 phone calls (each where I was put on hold for at least 45 minutes) and was LIED to saying that the claim would be processed and it was only a matter of time unti...
Very disappointed - reject my emergency hospital admission
I had a silver plus insurance (highest premium in the market) and still I trusted Medibank to support me and my family during a disaster situation in my life. But when I had a critical situation and had to be admitted, they rejected the admission and said I have a waiting period of 12 months (Mine was a non existing condition). Why then do we take insurance? They all are looting our money and trust..
I have a bronze membership - with dental cover .
I had called up Medibank before my emergency visit to the dentist . They didn’t advise me on the caveats (i.e. in network dentist ) and I had to pay 500 dollars out of pocket for visiting a dentist near me . Medibank didn’t cover me, offer correct guidance or follow up. I am going to change my insurance cover ASAP .

Waste of money, potential scam
Medibank canceled my extras that I signed up for, 3 months after joining without being notified. I continuously kept paying for my family just for a hospital cover that we will most probably never use, for over a year. Medibank was also unable to cover my opticals when they said they have. Been fighting my case for 3 months and eventually gave up due to the stress it brought me and my family. Medibank has covered nothing for us. Very disappointed to have to find out they have been continuously profiting from us this way.

Beware of this Company at all costs!
I was sold by false representation a policy that was only good to claim the tax rebate. I only discovered this when I was virtually on an operating table about to have a procedure. I know it was my responsibility to read the policy but I was vulnerable at the time and was taken advantage of by a Medicare employee no doubt trying to meet sales targets. When you correspond with them you get a pro forma letter with the appropriate bits changed.to your name. DO NOT EVER INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY !
Expensive, bad service, bad advice, dishonest.

Medi Claim for GP Consultations
Thank you for assisting me with medical care. As you can imagine, this process is very emotionally draining on the situation. However, the cooperation of the fine staff at Medibank makes it a little easier.
At this time, I would like to request that Medibank review the category that Dr. Helmy's services have been placed into. It appears that I am being charged a copay for GP consultation and treatment as a health service when in reality he provides me with a blood test and ECG. Please review this issue and kindly pay consultations fees.

Overseas Health cover for students- dont even dare.
I have been in Australia for almost 4 years now, had a couple of different insurance providers. This is the first time I am having to deal terribly with Medibank. I did couple of lab tests 2 weeks ago but the test lab keeps sending me invoices because Medibank refused to pay for it. But when the insurer sold me the insurance he told me that all the lab expenses were covered and he tried pushing me to buy more and more expensive cover and made it to $110/month. Now I have couple of lab invoices that is due for me to pay. I dont think this is fai...r. And I am not sure who to go to, because their customer service department doesnot seem to care. They would just say that its not included in your policy. Can someone help? Is fair trade going to help?
Poor customer service from Medibank private
I have been a loyal customer of Medibank private for 14 yrs and I am silver plus member with 500 $ excess. I, myself is a medical doctor. Recently I was admitted to the hospital for in-patient treatment. Medibank has been taking time to pay my bill which is part of in-patient service (MRSA swab). The bill has been overdue for 1 wk by the time I contacted feedback.complaint department. From there, it took another 2 wks to get reply and last reply was to provide them with medicare statement after back & forth emails. Why they did not ask me that...from very 1st reply. I decided to pay the bill myself and planning to cancel my membership as I cant be bothered while I am ill and trying to recover. Un-necessary stress and NO Peace of Mind ( different from they advertised). When I tried to do live chat as per their email, the website frozen particularly on live chat and the staff who was doing live chat with me did not wait for my response and logged out. I will tell each and every one of my patients Not to choose medibank (from my own bitter experience) if they are buying private insurance.
They lie and will not cover for your expenses
Do not buy insurance from this company. My family changed insurance company from Bupa to Medibank this April. Before signing the contract, my husband and I asked the agent numerous time about the covering of pregnancy and fees of delivering in hospitals. They made sure that everything will be covered without waiting time. That was why I left Bupa, I am 20 weeks pregnant now and they Medibank just informed the hospital that they will not cover for the pregnancy expenses which will be 16k AUD today because there were 5 days in between the contracts of Bupa and Medibank (even though they promised in April we will be covered). I am so angry and frustrated. NEVER NEVER use Medibank. FRAUD!!!!!!
Terrible customer service attitude, MONEY GRABBING CROOKS after I canceled my cover
I tried to close my cover today, then I have been told that they are going to charge me $50 administration fee. However, I wasn't told there is such a fee when I first time joining to Medibank. Otherwise I wouldn't have joined in the first place. like other people who have commented, they would promise anything to make you join! They just told me that I would have received a welcome email where it's stated such a fee. After I hung up the phone, I checked all emails I got from medibank. There is a welcome letter which stated nothing that is in r...elation to the administration fee. So I called back again, the girl told me the same answer, it only applies to Overseas visitors! interesting....Then I asked her to find that doc where it states there is a $50 administration fee when you cancel the cover and send to me. I just wanted to confirm if I have really missed out on something. SHE CAN'T EVEN FIND IT! She put me on hold for like 10 mins, said she will transfer me to a team member who is higher ranked than her. A dude pick up the phone told me the same thing again, with ignorant attitude telling me to google it!!!!! LMAO, he bloody asked me to google the document that they can't even find themselves. He said it is the easiest way, can anyone believe it! my jaw dropped!!!!! I have never come cross anything like this, I was with medibank during my entire student period. This is unacceptable and disappointing. Your team members can't resolve problems or find the proof to backup their own statements when I ask for the evidence. Instead, they ask me to google it, it's there, the easiest way. If all I need is google, why do I need customer service from Medibank. If this can't get resolved I will go to other places where I can actually get it resolved.
Takes money out of your account even after you cancelled
Cancelled my policy with them because retail staff is rude, couldn't put through the correct claim after 3 times. Try to cancel over the phone, staff refuse saying that he'll help me put through a dispute and I should wait before cancelling. Contact them again about cancelling via live chat they said they will remove my direct debit details and have someone call me back during working hours. Next thing I know I was charged my usual fortnightly rate. Called again and their excuse this time - on order for them to put through a transfer certificat...e they have to charge me. I will have to pay $3 for that to happen and they will refund the rest back to me once the certificate is send through. Not once was I inform I will be charge for leaving. This company is a crook, cheat, and a joke. Had to call my bank to do a reversal on the charge. Getting rid of them is harder than getting rid of head lice. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

My husband has throat cancer. We can have the operation immediately if we pay the specialist $5000. Could we get any kind of medicare rebate on the amount as we are both elderly but in otherwise good health. My husband is in pain and the waiting list has lengthened due to the corona virus.
Well I take it you don’t have private health cover, I did and was basically forced into public If your catagory1 like me they said we must do within 30 days perhaps sera a more sympathetic doctor and beg him to get to catorgy 1 they cannot watch him die

Why do medibank doesn't have claims via email? It is always not possible for us to go to stores or post at this stage and submit our claims. It would help customers if you have some generic email to submit claims which other insurance companies offer like BUPA?
