Came from a mountain bike and wanted to ride faster in charity events, but didn't want a road bike with drop bars, so chose the T3 because it has a 52X11 road gear set up. Initial experience was that it wasn't any faster than the old heavy mountain bike (a 1993 Trek7000). However, after a few more rides (around 50k once a week), I found it was more about me getting stronger to push the 52X11 set up faster, and faster for longer periods.
Dropping the height of the handlebar by removing the spacers and turning the stem upside down meant I ...could go faster. Adding a cheap aerobar from Ebay (which doesn't quite fit that well, actually) has meant that I go slightly faster again. I spend quite a bit of time on the aerobar though, so I hope to upgrade to a better fitting one for the OS handlebar. I probably should have got a smaller frame so my seat would be much higher than the handlebars, but the shortness of the tube across the top made me feel cramped on the smaller frame, which is why I went for the larger frame. Local bike shop said it was fine at the size I got. At first I thought the seat would be uncomfortable. Rode it with padding and it felt like I was going to lose ability to have any more kids. I hoped it would improve as I got used to it. In fact, the most surprising thing has been that the seat is MORE comfortable when I'm not wearing the padding. Rode close to 70k last weekend without padding. Only change I would make is to lower the front of the seat slightly now that I use aerobars a lot. Bike seems very durable. Finish/paintwork very good. Would prefer that on the black frame they had a black seat and black cables, instead of white, but that's a small thing.
Light, fast...but not perfect
Had mine for 7 years. Lovely light little bike, and has done alot of k's - around 5000 per year. Only just now having to replace deraillers, chains etc....Only issue was the fork - a light weight aluminium one which cracked right through after no particular rough stuff. I replaced with a steel fork which actually feels more stable, due to its extra weight. But generally yes this is a great quality bike. I would probably upgrade to a T5 for my next bike...but happy with my little blue steed for now.
Reliable, easy to ride up hill!
Fork cracked for no good reason
