MG3 Core - highly recommend

Great car, zips around, excellent on fuel efficiency, has all the mod cons. Easy to park. No mechanical problems, super reliable. Highly recommend this car. Really happy with my MG. Show details

Great value for money, well made and has lots of handy features. Would recommend!

I use it as a ‘Town Car’, as we have a larger SUV for country trips. The car is used daily and I know the Service Manager at the Dealership, and he told me that the MG3 hadn’t shown any issues of note.  Show details

Worst new car we ever bought

The 1.5 engine is vastly underpowered, makes the car go down the gears when you hit an incline, the engine starts to labour and you can hear the tappits making that tinny noise. After buying new we decided to trade it in to an MG garage who told me it was made in China and more or less what did I expect. They offered me $10k for the car Against a 26k i30, I paid $18,500 for the car 5 months earlier. Beware buying if you think it will hold its value,
We ended trading it for a Ford Focus where we got $15k for it, we were glad to unload it . The MG Excite may have all the bells and whistles , however they forgot to put a engine in it that will do it justice

The MG3 specs say 5.3L per 100KM on highway but best we can get is 7.4 using 98 fuel. MG refuses to respond or discuss

Mostly long range trips with a minimum of around town. We use the car on average 3-4 times a week. Servicing is as per book requirement and is only 16000km at the moment. It actually just as cheap to use our V6 Jag around town than the little 1.5L MG hatch Show details

Fantastic car with great torque!

Mainly local runs, one long run last week, amazing cornering, great on hills, just like driving a sports car! Tops 140 Klms with no effort . Can see this as a car of the future in car rally’s  Show details

Bad car

I have 2019 core, very cheap nasty car, i agree with other comments, very noisy. The car always makes a noise from front end when stopping since the day i bought it brand new, windscreen wipers shudder all the time, rear end noisy when turning left or right or over any bump, dash rattles, the whole car is just cheap and noisy, headache to drive. First service Ringwood Nissan because Ringwood MG send you there, same owners i was told, Ringwood Mg no service centre, horrible experience, lady service manager rude, rude, rude, and was told by one guy we don't know much about these cars, $300 to change oil and filter and they put cheaper 10w oil instead of 5w which is recommended in service book. Avoid MG, Avoid Ringwood MG, Ringwood Nissan. Show details

Outstanding little car

I have driven a great number of different cars both for work and pleasure, these include AMGs, RS focus and Fiesta STs. I purchased the MG3 as a second vehicle and have covered around 4K kms in 3 months. It is worth noting that the engine and gearbox loosen up with time and use and is full of character. Drives great around town and cruises fine on the freeway. I cannot emphasise how impressed I am with a car that cost so little to purchase with a great warranty. In actual fact I have now decided to take the MG on an upcoming holiday to the south of NSW in preference to my AMG. IMO this car is unfairly underrated. Show details

Value for money, best in the market thus far

MG3 Core with sat nav was a winner for us, cheap to run, easy to park, and an overall great performer in it's class. Bought three months ago, and the wifey is very happy with it. Traded in a large car and there is no looking back... Show details

Air Con problem after 3 weeks

I've been generally happy with the car, however, the air conditioning has developed a problem 3 weeks after purchase. It is fine for about two minutes then totally stops. Even the fan won't work. The soonest booking the dealer's can give me is in two weeks and they have no loan cars available for a month. I'll update this after it's been looked at. Show details ·  1

Car was towed back to the dealer. Have been told they have deleted codes from the car system. Also updated the ecu of my car. Hopefully, my car does not caused any issues in the future. Finger cross

MG3 2019

5 stars for the cost of vehicle
1.5 cylinder engine yet it needs lot of acceleration to pickup on slopes/incline
Apple CarPlay is crap, When you get phone call during drive, screen goes blackout. At that moment if you are on GPS it will be worse to get back the screen on , pullover car aside remove cable and reconnect.

Addressed this issue to Sales Rep after 7 days of purchase . He told my phone fault , tried with 5 different IPhone model and issue is same. Again addressed to service manager during 10k service , he advised its IPhone fault with carplay

Purchased in February 2020 From Werribee MG Show details

Ongoing issue with Air conditioning

Within one week the Air conditioning failed and upon calling the dealer I was made to wait one week to get a booking to take vehicle back. The dealer inspected and advised me that their was no gas.The gas was filled and no mention as to whether a leak was present.Six weeks later and the same issue has arisen and now I have to wait 5 days for a booking to take back.

Not very happy! Show details
