Good Sound , Comfortable but build quality of wire and control box not designed to last long
I owned 2 of these.
I liked the sound and long term comfort. Treated the headset with care but after 6 months of regular use the cable started to crack and there was a loose connection inside the control box. This initially caused some cracking sound and then finally stopped working.
Unfortunately a good product has been let down by due to low quality of connecting cables and control box connections.
My advise :
Casual and careful users : Go for it and treat it with extreme care
Regular users : Stay away from it.
Purchased in at Amazon for $50.
Not worth buying!
Unfortunately, although I like the product for comfort on the head and ears it barely lasts a month before an obvious crackling sound when moving my head definitely something wrong with the wiring on the earpiece, which now when talking online to friends they can hear it at their end and it interferes with the call.
Mid line volume controller is great but I really think the weight of it is causing the wiring problems.
It is such a shame as I do like it otherwise, but this is the 2nd headset I will be returning as the same thing happened to t...

Lasted 7 weeks. Will not touch them again. Microsoft?? Really??
I bought this for my son for Christmas 2018. I showed him how to look after it and have observed him in use and storing it when not in use.
It has had regular connection problems (Win7 64bit) and now, 7 weeks later, the microphone does not work.
While trying to work out why, I noticed I was getting a signal when moving the arm up and down. Further testing showed that it was sometimes working while the arm was being moved and now not at all.
Being the sort of person who enjoys fixing things I opened it up to find very ordinary soldering at the...

Don't waste your money Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headphones
These are certainly not the top of the market but are still a reasonably pricy item for what they are but they are essentially rubbish - never worked properly and lasted less than a year.
Always had connection problems even with several different USB ports on different computers resulting in no volume or volume dropping out and static;
Mid line volume controller ineffective;
Were uncomfortable to wear, very hard on ears;
Within a short period of time the ear pads (also referred to as ear cups) started to fall apart with the vinyl breaking down and falling away.
Never again microsoft.

Ok for short stints only
The unit looks functional - over the ear cup headphone, solid looking mic boom, good thick cable that looks like it won't kink or break.
Sadly this is where the good bits end. It is let down by very poor sound quality and a low gain microphone.
It is uncomfortable to wear, with very noticeable pressure on your head. It get very hot under the ear cups. After 30 minutes you can really feel the strain.
Would not use it for anything more than 15 minutes, 30 minutes at absolute most.
