Sorrento Gazebo...Mostly OK but one very bad fault otherwise it would get 5 stars
I bought two 3m x 3m Square Sorrento Gazebos ($399 ea) to erect instead of Ikea umbrellas which have collapsed after 3 years.
The good news:
They assemble quite easily.
Once they are up, they withstand wind very well and are quite sturdy.
The shade cloth/roof covering is strong and probably rip proof.
The aluminium frame is well made and simple to assemble once you know how.
Bunnings was exemplary in both Joondalup and Balcatta. They could not have been more helpful.
The BAD news:...The instructions are very unclear especially regarding the assembly of the rafters into the center support. The spider mechanism (center support) at the peak of the roof is very badly manufactured. Unfortunately it's the final part of the assembly, and is the heart of the strength of the whole gazebo, similar to the keystone of an arch. The first gazebo stayed together but the roof rafters had to be pulled onto the frame and I was afraid that the center support would break. When I assembled the second gazebo, and unwrapped the center support I found that it was broken. I then went back to Bunnings Joondalup and they opened the remaining two in stock to swap out the center support, and both were also broken. They sent me to Bunnings Balcatta, and they had 4 in stock and two center supports were also broken. These were all brand new sealed boxes. There is obviously a fault with the manufacturing of the most critical item in the Gazebo. Mimosa need to recall these items and replace the center supports with a properly manufactured unit.
