Excellent service at Peters' Mitre 10 Caulfield North Vic.
I wanted some items to paint a wooden seat.
The older chap at Peters Mitre 10 in Caulfield North (Vic) - it also has other stores in Brighton (Vic) and Fitzroy - could not have been more helpful.
I had priced two of the items at competitor Bunnings.
This Mitre 10 store was competitive, and better service at Bunnings. It is a 400 metre easy walk from Malvern railway station or the number 64 tram. Parking on site.
MITRE 10 CHERMSIDE
What a joke. Thought I'd support a local business until they damaged my vechile while loading materials. I could deal with poor sales advise and more expensive prices but when they damaged my vechile and took 4 months to eventually get it fixed along with down right childish behaviour. Will never shop there again neither will mates and businesses who I have shared my experience with in the local community. Plenty of other businesses closer and far better value without all the hasle I've had to deal with . . They could have resolved the issue ...far easier and faster and kept my business... anyhow...Lyndons, bunnings and Steve Jones from now on.... obviously mitre 10 don't really care about their customers and the poor reputation online - not one response to all the bad feedback!
CHALK & CHEESE
For years I have been a customer of the Pambula store on the NSW far south coast. The staff are generally wonderful and helpful. In recent months however things have changed. Staff are deserting the ship, and the younger replacements have little knowledge. I was even told this week that 'we don't sell hoop iron-it's amazing how many items we don't sell.' In total contrast however is the Bega store where every single staff member is happy and helpful. The contrast is amazing. Could this be a management issue?
How to save money at Mitre 10
Sunday 9/9 18 5.45 pm went to Mitre 10 Wells road Edithvale to purchase 2 x 40cm braided hoses for a new kitchen sink tap i was installing. ( close to closing time and nearer than Bunnings )
Took them to the counter expecting to pay $25-30 for the pair only to be told they were just over $25 each ! Asked the salesgirl to double check the price and was assured it was correct. Promptly got in the car and made a dash to Bunnings in Springvale road and purchased the same 2 hoses for just over $18 the pair, a $32 saving !
We go to maitre 10 in eden a lot as we do a lot of diy, most of the time the fellas there are very helpfull and friendly but there is a woman( I won't mention names) there that is always rude, she speaks to you with attitude every time, we have noticed it's not only to us but others as well, we are close to shopping elsewhere only because of her and it's a real shame as it takes business out of town. I have asked family and friends and they say the same about the way she speaks to people, If she continues to be working with the public she need...s to change her attitude, we feel she really shouldn't be serving at the counter. The same woman is apparently in charge of the plant section, she spoke to us like we were stupid when we asked her a question so we never ended up buying the plants we went to get. We feel she really needs to be spoken too because it's a real shame that one woman's attitde will turn people away!!!!
Don't buy a Gift Card as you will be swapping your cash for a 12 month expiry clause
I recently found a $50 gift card inside a birthday card that was past the 12month use by date. I went to my local Mitre 10 but they could not honour it and suggested I call or email a different company, i did this but they did not reply. What a waste and no help from the providers of this temporary credit.
Poor service from timber counter
Went today to buy timber for slats at Victor Harbor store. Guy behind the counter didn't even say hello just looked at me blankly like an idiot. No mate I'm not a tradie i need assistance. Finally directs me outside to timber yard. Not one guy acknowledge me. I go back in wait another 10 mins he says any help yet. I said no. He just stands there. No offer of help. I finally said you know what i will go to where i will get service. Bring on Bunnings. You guys will be screwed.!
Bad service in Mitre 10 shop in Victor Harbour
We bought some sheets from Mitre 10 shop in Victor Harbour, it was 35C outside and nobody in the yard to serve you, the sheets were everywhere, even without proper tags!we had to measure all the different sizes of sheets to find the right one in the heat of 35C outside and only one guy was serving 5 or 6 customers inside the shop and everyone was not happy.
Never go there again, hopeless!
Accent Paint is the worst ever!
I would have to agree with Grumpy_1248 about the paint - I was assured it was made by Dulux and was just as good. Don't waste your money. It doesn't mix properly and it is almost transparent. I'm in an area without a Bunnings, so I have to go to Mitre 10 in various country towns. The pricing is a bit all over the place - varying from store to store. Some things are very cheap and others are ridiculously expensive. For instance, the paint (the decent stuff) is almost twice the price of Bunnings. I'm also a bit disappointed in a Rockwell cordles...s drill I purchased a few years ago (which was a really handy drill) - the charger died and they don't sell a replacement. Apart from this - the staff are generally very helpful and there is no drama taking your dog into the store (unlike Bunnings)
Staff dismissive, unable to follow up accurately on requests.
Staff asked if they could cut lumber to very specific measurement - for slotting in metal brackets 210mm long 3.6 in x 3.6 in lumber. Staff stated they could. Lumber was cut skew and at incorrect lengths, customer requested to please cut as requested or they wouldn't fit and would look odd. Staff stated customer incorrect, appeared to become annoyed and once finished walked away leaving skew and incorrect lengths cut. Second present staff member would not assist customer further other than writing a price. The lumber is no good, and customer ch...ose to purchase cutting tools from Bunnings to cut size. When looking for a drill another staff member started snapping his fingers at me and pointing at the ground infront of him. I only went there as they are close to my residence. They wasted my time & clearly don't value customers. Quite possibly the most useless customer service I've had, these staff presented as immature and don't value their employment.
Ararat Mitre10 -Amazed by bad service and shoddy products
Went to the plumbing dept. to buy a few items, no staff, waited 5 minutes, then a rude and dismissive employee basically fobbed me off and appeared to try avoiding me! He even made a phone call and continued to ignore me while I was standing in front of him! Eventually left my items on a shelf and went to the timber desk to buy some wood instead. After being ignored by staff who were looking after their tradie mates, I went to find the timber myself. Eventually found the wood I wanted, but looking at it, it was scratched, dented and split o...n the ends. I returned to the wood desk, and found the whole staff fawning over a pretty woman, even ignoring their mates. I gave up and went to Bultes Hardware up the road, they were much nicer! Within 20 minutes I had everything I needed, and the wood was in excellent condition. Never again will I return to mitre10, it's just not worth being ignored and treated like second rate to save a few dollars.
Boonah store - rude, inappropriate and unknowledgeable staff
On one visit I was buying zip ties and the guy behind the counter asked if I had a red room like fifty shades. The next visit I walked up to the counter at the same time as an older gentleman and he asked to serve the older man first stating “normally I would say age before beauty but that doesn’t apply here”. Myself and the other customer stood there awkwardly not sure how to reply to such an out of the blue rude comment like that. On top of that they never know where anything is in their store and most of the time haven’t heard of what your after.

Poor customer service with arrogant attitude - Port Elliot Store
Poor customer service at trade desk, arrogant attitude and made to wait while staff member chatted with other staff member and customer. No assistance with getting the manager, just told to go find him myself.
Dreadful Head Office Customer Service - Do not use
Awful customer service from head office - conflicting information given from store to head office. Informed by the Richmond store to call the head office & the head office then claimed they could not do it, only the store could. After calling the store again, they then informed head office still needed to be contacted
Person whom i was originally connected to at head office was rude, asked me the same question 3 times and ignored my answer. Spoke over me, and the threatened to hang up on me if i didn't a. answer her question or b. stop talki...ng. She refused to connect me through to management when i requested, as it was near impossible to deal with her. She then hung up on me. The second time i attempted to call [name removed] form head office hung up on me on hold for an extended period of time. I heard her say "oh its that [word removed]" before being disconnected. Hot tip, don't take your customers off hold if you're going to insult them. By the way, all I needed was a refund on an item not received.
Questions & Answers
Wondering why people often choose to shop at Bunnings over Mitre 10?
Personally I have always tried to support Mitre 10 as the "little guy".
But having just been arrogantly ripped-off by Mazzegas Mitre 10 Kelmscott, I am going over to Bunnings.

Mitre 10's corporate conscience is broken from management through to staff.
Mitre 10 have yet to discover the secret of satisfying their customers. I have found them to be rude, arrogant, expensive, poor quality and treat you as if you should be grateful they exist. I don't believe they will last too much longer against the newer more customer focussed stores.
