Cannot direct debit to save their lives

We had a bill roll over and a payment plan. Direct debiting the same amount every week. That was fine. Then I got paid into my account from a new job, they took a lump sum (not even the whole amount of the bill?) from my pay. Were they tracking my bank? Why would they take most but not all of the bill due? I was on a payment plan and they took out the whole amount? And now they're still trying to direct debit me for the payment plan as they didn't take the whole bill out first. Going to a new company. Show details

They don't call back

I tried to sign up with momentum energy over 10 days ago. They still haven't called back with a quote. My address didn't show up in their system. I called 4X and they still haven't called back. Show details

Appalling behaviour

After trying to contact them repeatedly to sign a new contract, they didn't return my calls and then when I finally got through to someone, they hiked up the prices. I couldn't believe it was 3 times more than the original. Then, I sent the signed contract to them, I was one day late because of bloody covid and they rejected the contract. To insult us further, they hiked the prices up again 3 times that of the original contract. My blood is boiling and I feel so sick from this whole business. They need to go out of business. These electricity prices are not sustainable and people are going to go without. Show details

Don't offer the plan they advertise

I was going to join one of their electricity plans offered in my area. Single rate with good pricing. Then in the process they call me to say that they can only offer me TOU, despite having always been on single rate with all my providers. Useless at best, "bait and switch" at worst. Show details

I'm not a customer. I sent them an email to ask why I would be applied a $2.98/day charge because of my type of meter, which happens to be a smart meter? I've received no reply & sent them another email to say 'don't bother to respond, I'm not joining Momentum'. Show details

New Customer - Absolutely Disappointed Terrible Service, Should Never Have Chosen Them

Joined up momentum energy around 2-3 months ago and just needed the simplest task done, adding my partners name to our invoices. Have called up 4 times now, including just now with the service provider hanging up on me mid-call. I ask for this basic of task about 3 weeks ago and they still cannot complete it.

On top of that, their meter readers cannot perform the simple task of opening a gate to check our gas meter. Stay away from this company, they're absolutely pathetic. Show details

Product is enticing - but we are "not eligible" as we do not meet the credit requirements

Finally, a carbon neutral energy company. We wanted 100% Green energy too. Oh wait... we want to sign up and are told we aren't eligible to sign up as we don't meet the credit criteria. Both my partner and I have tried and the same problem happens. Went to livechat and they said there may be an issue with this approval process and that they will need to call me to do a credit check over the phone.. or you could fix your issue.

People want green and carbon neutral energy, and this is just your way of saying no to people who care about the environment enough to want to pay extra for these. Show details

Zero stars

I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Zero communication and landed with an astronomical bill .their reason a series of wrong readings . Now I have huge bill and the bill does not add up as I was having unusually high bills even before the huge billl

There is no better option. They are the only fully Australian company we have. All the rest are owned by companies overseas. This is a displacement of power not just for our country but for each of us individually each time we talk to them. As far as l’m concerned this is the only option. Show details

dont touch them

we was geting high estimated bills double what the actual bill was so when i asked about it thay offerd to put in a smart power meter
from the day the smart meter went in we could no longer use our oven
i told them about it thay said it was the oven we got a new oven at a cost of $750 and it still wont work
thay refuse to beleave thay could have anything to do with it
but now i have a new oven i did not need and still no way to use it Show details

Hopeless

Cant even read a meter. Had to book a new read at an extra $10 and they didn't appear on day booked. They still havent read the meter & keep asking me to book another read that they dont appear for! Switching back to my previous gas provider. Show details

Momentum direct debit wrong amounts, they use several ddr's, they can't be trusted to debit the true amounts. Disgrace

Nice experience right until we got solar

We were with Momentum for a while due to their renewable energy focus and always found their customer service easy to reach, solution-focused, and friendly. However, after we had solar installed their options are just not at all up to scratch; why do we need to pay 40% more for our gas and have energy rates way above most other providers to obtain a solar feed-in tariff that is not the absolute minimum? I guess someone is paying for all the ads, and now it's not us any longer Show details

Don’t waste your time

We have been without power for 5 days and they connect us for another 2 days because we “got onto them too late”- as if calling every day for the last 5 days was too late. We have wasted a week of rent on a house that is unliveable. Show details

Reliable power? What power? Great to be left without power for the whole weekend! No help except to pay an after hours fee for connection, not my fault, no way will a pay, so no power! Show details

Useless

Received a power and gas bill for close to $200.....
The property is under lock and key, untenanted with no power or gas being used.
Momentum are nothing but thieves. The couldn't explain their charges or revoke the bill. Show details

Privacy

I attempted to obtain a quote for electricity via the Momentum Energy website. After filling in my personal information including DOB, Pensioner Card ID, followed by request for more identification, Drivers License, or Passport, I decided to cancel as surely this information is only required if I actually decided to move Momentum, not just a quote so that I could compare against my existing Energy provider! Not comfortable and if I start receiving phone calls and emails from Momentum, I will not be happy! Staying away from Momentum! They do not compare well on the other comparison websites. Show details

Very overpriced. Poor customer service

Upon arriving in Australia, I signed up for momentum via price comparison site. I received my first bill and was slightly shocked by the price I then continued to use them for the year after reviving the next few bills which were even higher I decided to do some investigation and ask others around what the going rate was for 2 bed flat. Everyone was absolutely shocked at what I had been paying. I paid $800 a quarter, after changing provider- $200 a quarter. I don’t have a heater or aircon or any sort of high spending electronics. I’ve also been trying to get in contact with them for months now and each time they’ve said they’ll get back to me and never do.  Show details

Horrible company

You ripped my mother off , you took twice the payment you still have not refunded the money when you said you would we called up serval times an all we were told was it would be refunded the next day then the next time we called it would be refunded on friday and still NO money when my mother is literally in the negatives and has other bills to pay we will definitely be going to the electricity ombudsman about this because it is ridiculous you can take double payments but not return the money you took  Show details

Just Cancelled

Signed up with Momentum via a Compare a supplier site, Momentum wasn’t the top but it was being spruiked as wholly Australian owned, so that’s a plus I felt. Process was painless, I said, sign me up. I later decided to look for reviews and saw these..... So today when I received my package I called them to cancel my application and account. Person I spoke asked me for reason for cancelling, he sounded gobsmaked when I told him, bad reviews....said he has NEVER heard that before and was going to google reviews. OK account closed, but feel free to call me again if you wish to open the account up again, no attempt to get me to change my mind, which was ok with me as I didn’t.  Show details

Not a good experience as a leaving customer

I am relocating and needed to cancel my Momentum electricity.
I tried to do so on Momentum website but after booking the cancellation for the 19th, I received a prompt saying I need to wait for a call from Momentum.
They called me a few hours later and surprisingly, not only they didn't try to keep me, they said the first available appointment is on the 22th. There was no answer why it is being postponed and I had a very bad feeling as the gentleman on the phone didn't care what my question is about and what my experience would be through this process.
I suggest they review my phone call and try to treat the leaving customers in a way that they won't stop others to go with Momentum! Show details

Have been with momentum energy for approx 6 years, first 3 years were really good, low prices, company very honest and reliable, then the honey moon was over, when the fixed term was over and the ordinary rates kicked in, rang to see if maybe a better deal could be struck, customer service was rude and said if you don't like it switch, but alas their pretty much all the same, offer great deals then screw you to the wall, I'm slowly working to go totally off grid, then the circus will be over. Show details

Momentum Energy came to the rescue

I have been a momentum energy customer for a couple of years now. I was going to switch away to try and save a bit of money when I moved, as Simply Energy had cheaper rates, but it was a total disaster. Simply Energy failed to connect me at my new address, then failed to notify me. Momentum absolutely saved me. They got my power connected at the new address within a couple of hours of me lodging the request, gave me all the info I needed about the rates, and how it would work, and then texted me to tell me that the power was connected. Their customer service team are always extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them as a supplier for anyone who is looking.  Show details ·  1

Thieves

After you’ve been with them a while they Jack up your costs massively. They are a bunch of thieves and I will never deal with them again.

I got a $700 gas bill for two months and then more than halved my use of central heating, which was the only thing that could have cost so much, but got another $700 bill in the next period.
