I’m really disappointed
Thank you for your time
My first ever property has been completely trashed under Morton’s management. Obviously no inspections took place during the time in which they “managed” my property (as agreed/contracted) as dog pee covered the carpets & blinds, dog scratches damaged doors & walls, doors were broken off hinges & children’s scribble covered the walls (as well as crude attempts to cover in unauthorised paint & plaster). To make matters worse, an agreement made by George (business dev. Manager) to arrange landlord insurance & pay with the rent (along with rates & strata) was not upheld & the current out of pocket loss stands at $17,600 (not inclusive of permanent damage). On top of all, they then sold the books to another agent. Devastated to say the least.
Worse property manager I have dealt with
No follow up skills, a complete lack of service, does not respond to emails unless it suits them and does not call back when they say they will call back same day
The property manager I dealt with was terrible
I have Morton to help to manage my investment property for past few years. Now as the tenants moved out, I had terrible experience with the property manger with final handover. Firstly, the place wasn't cleaned properly and some areas were full of dust, but the property manager didn't see any of those and told me the place was fine. Secondly, there are some damages to the property, for example, the control panel cover was falling off, one of the bathroom's tiles was cracked, so many chips on the wall. Thirdly, the rental place has a storage, t...he property manager said she won't check the storage as part of her final inspection just because she couldn't find the garage! Fourthly, the property manager told me that the tenant lost 1 set of key, therefore, i ordered another remote & fob copy from the strata and paid for the fees. But a few days later, the strata manager told me the tenant actually returned 2 sets of keys! Additionally, the property manager wanted to return the bond to me and asked me to deal with the tenants after. I've never knew that I, as a owner, still need to deal with the tenants with the bond even I paid a property manager! In conclusion, i don't think the property manager is doing her job properly. i feel she is not even doing the job. I tried to arrange a meeting face to face with her on a weekend, like a Saturday, to go through all the issues. But she responded that they don't work over the weekend, so I spent so much time sending emails back and forth with very little progression. I am so disappointed and so frustrated. i've never seen any property manager irresponsible like this before.
Sorry, if i can give a negative rate, I will not give a 1 star.
Well, I am a landlord. If you are a landlord and considering let morton to manage your lovely property, please read my experience with morton below.
At morton, your property manager will never do the property routine inspection, it's done by other people, so how can your PM known your property well..
If tenants have a repair issue, your PM will only tell you that they have 4000 properties to manage, no time to check, what they can do is send service man there which will cost you...$200.Rather than talk a lot nonsense PM wont go there have a check, even there is only 5 mins walk. My tenants report AC is not cooling down and make weird sound and smell, I don't expect PM like service man to fix it but you should go there check it at least. Finally I send there a handyman to check, the reason for the issue is because tenants set temp to highest but cold mode, by doing this, AC unit will easily broken and landlord have to pay at the end of day, luckily the AC works by set to correct temp. As this is tenant's operation mistake, so they have to pay a callout fee. And AC filter was very dirty, never been cleaned, but my PM [Name Removed] told me tenants have cleaned AC filter and can send me photo, but actually not... Due to poor management by morton, I transferred to an another agent, and then my new agent found my levy was overdue and by looking into the levy bill I found morton has miss payment few times, and I have been charged interest and debt recovery stage1 charge. I asked my PM [Name Removed] again, she told me it's landlord 's responsibility to remind morton if i don't have levy bill, excuse me??? Levy bill is only post to your office, it's paid by morton all the time deducted from my rental fund. How do I know when is my levy due. I have other property managed by other agent, never have such issues. Morton's service was very unprofessional.
Tenant's rights are not protected
Bad service. Tennant's rights are not protected. I am in financial hardship situation due to Covid 19 and could not afford anymore. To avoid break fee, i wanted to transfer lease to save our money. However, they still got me nearly $700 for lease take over process. Moreover, the new tennant still owed me one week rent but wasn't ready to pay.
Terrible service from Morton Real Estate in Pyrmont
Morton real estate in Pyrmont has to be one of the worst and most incompetent Property Managemen Teams in Sydney!
Initially, that is before enlisting them and signing the agreement, they were "great": professional, appeared knowledgable about their work, approachable and friendly manner, ..., in short everything you look for in a managing agent!
Unfortunately, as I found out not long after, that was appearance only!
Complete lack of management and responsibility for the property entrusted to them is an understatement!
Just to name few issues:
3 weeks after Final Inspection Bond not released
So we finished the property's final inspection on the 19th of November. The property manager we have been working with told us that she was going to release the bond 2 days after. Today is the 12th of December and we have not heard back regarding our bond. We followed up and they now saying that we need to get in touch with their sales team since the property is now for sale. Per the property manager, the sales team went in the property and required us to clean the kitchen because there are a couple of spots that need to be spotless. I asked fo...r details regarding the spots and the sales team could not answer. Regardless, they should have communicated this. It has been freaking 3 weeks since we heard about anything. If we did not follow up on our bond today, we will never find out that the property requires additional cleaning. We surrendered our keys after the final inspection - that should indicate everything is good to go. At this point both the property manager and the sales team are now pointing fingers. I do not know if the their senior manager will do anything better. Prior to this happening, we got our termination notice from person's email who does not work there anymore. They used her email to send the termination notice. The Morton Crows Nest office is definitely in utmost chaos.
Dont use this agency !
Doesn't return calls or emails, not proactive in finding tenants for landlord, failing to submit all applications to landlord. Treats tenants as second class citizens, save yourself the hassle, use a top tier agency for you property needs.
Mistake after mistake
My agent from Morton was so terrible, she made so many mistakes which made me lose money and caused me so much unnecessary stress. She was so unprofessional, and didn't respond to calls and emails unless she needed something. I now went with Chidiac realty instead and have had such a pleasant experience. And to top it off, when I confronted the Morton agent about her mistakes she gave me the excuse that she had 100 properties to manage. To get anything done by my Morton agent I had to hassle and hassle her until she would respond which took more than 6 months for her to reply! Such a joke. I am never going with Morton real estate again.
Wish I was with Wentworth Point - worst experiences with Pyrmont staff
Morton, Pyrmont is one of the worst real estates I've ever come across (there's only been one other this awful).
No follow up skills, a complete lack of service, does not respond to emails unless it suits them and does not call even if you make a complaint advising them why. I have outstanding repairs from 1 years ago. The property is now 'managed' by a 'senior' property manager after the last one provided a terrible service. The issues are the exact same as with the previous property manager. When complaints are made to Senior Management, th...
Terrible customer service. Do not respond to emails or repair requests. Place was filthy when I moved despite them claiming it was professionally cleaned.
Can't agree more with the other reviews.
Had our key hand over with Lyn in Ermington in November 2016.
We were 20min early to our appointment as we were super excited, as you would expect considering you're about to move into a 110sqm apartment. We entered their office and showroom in Ermington where 3 staff members were working. NOT ONE of them bothered to say hello. Not the best impression but we were still too excited to care.
20min later Lyn came and handed over everything in a very sober way. As we are the first tenants we did some res...
Have to chase them up
Have to chase them up for feedback on rental application, but they still don't get back to me
I don't know how anyone can hire them as property managers, they are incompetent
Did not inform me flat had major water leak issues
I rented a unit through Morton in Crows Nest. Prior to moving in there had been substantial water leaks and repairs carried out which were inadequate. Subsequently storms hit Sydney and the entire unit was flooded. It took 7 months for the repairs to be fixed and we were living in a single room of the unit for a while. Morton had a duty to tell us this had happened but they denied knowing about the water leaks. Contractors who came around confirmed they had quoted for the same repairs the year before on the same unit.
