The two guys who moved me spoke in their own language most of the time and complained about the furniture they had to move. One of them asked to give my address to his friend so his friend could come across and pick something up.
They broke so many things and whilst I acknowledge it was raining that day, it didn’t excuse just how wet everything was. My bed was unable to be used as it was wet right through, blankets and boxes soaked. It took me a week to wash everything and I’m still replacing broken items.
The final straw was when I questioned the price at the end, the guy raised his voice at me and charged me an extra hour.
The only positive about the experience was the lady I dealt with organising the move was friendly.
Broke a window. Refuse to own up. Stay away.
Were 20 minutes late to the move start time. Broke a window at the new premises and refuse to acknowledge / or pay. Don’t believe they actually have insurance. Beware. Steer clear.
Dangerous acts by the Removalists
The movers left the front door to my apartment and apartment complex wide open when the left after removing my belongings! I’m lucky myself or someone in my building wasn’t robbed or assaulted due to this easy access left by the removalist’s. What’s worse is that the owner of the company seemed to not care at all! Absolutely disgusted by their actions but more by the owner’s blatant disregard and dismissal of how dangerous and serious this is!
The worst moving experience I've ever had
I moved from a 4 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom townhouse. From destination to destination it would have been around 1klm or so. I had booked and paid the deposit for an 3 men to come at 8am in the morning, they arrived 5 and a half hours late and when they got there, there was only 2 men who were extremely rude. When I made the booking I had specifically asked if they could take the beds apart and then put them back together at the new premises, as I am a single mother and I was assured this was fine. The two men that arrived didn't want to take...the beds apart or put them back together (one asked why couldn't my partner do it) and basically complained about anything and everything. They broke a cupboard and left it smashed in the middle of my garage and didn't even tell me ( I wasn't too concerned about the cupboard as it was old, but the fact they didn't tell me was what was annoying, and they just left it there). They didn't take all of my stuff and in the end I didn't want to say anything as by this stage they had me in tears. I contacted the company via email and they organised for someone else to pick up the rest of my things and I was assured that the Manager or General Manager would get back in touch with me, but it's now been one month since I've moved and I've herd from no one!!! I paid VERY good money for the worst service I've ever had. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere, I wish I had of read some reviews prior to booking with Moving Mates, it would have saved me a lot of heart ache!!
Inexperienced and took too long. Moving staff and supervisor lied and unhelpful
2 bed apartment plus storage unit. 3km in distance. Moved started on time but took ages - 9 hrs - we moved exactly same stuff previously in 4 hours.
Never use this moving company
I recently moved a short distance in Melbourne and had a terrible experience with this company. After dismantling my dining table, the removalist lost the bolts for reassemble. A floor lamp also disappeared in the move. After chasing these missing items with the driver and the administrator, the Operations Manager who is also the owner of the company responded with "what do you want me to do about it". The driver likewise accepted no responsibility for the lost items but instead blamed my daughter. I would not recommend using them.
More of a headache then its worth.
I had a backload interstate move booked with this company and I regret it. I had booked my flights out of Sydney to be two days after my stuff was supposed to be picked up (a based studio apartment worth of goods, mostly bags of clothes and animal habitats, a bed) - They were late, then I got a text from the company stating the truck had been deemed unsafe by NSW police several days prior to picking up my goods but they were stopped again without repairing the truck and ordered off the roads.
I conceded and let them agree to pick up everyth...ing the next day, the day before my flight. They didn't show up. I then had to change my flight to give them yet another day to pick up stuff which put me out of pocket even more. The guy I was communicating with REFUSED to pick up the phone when I called and communicated SOLELY through text message so I have lots of text messages to show anyone interested from this unprofessional company. If someone can not stand speaking to people they should not be in a customer service role. Finally they showed up. Two guys in a graffiti covered truck who didn't communicate well, but were pleasant. They quickly loaded the truck and said I'd expect delivery the next day! That sounded too good to be true, and I was right. When I found my way home in Victoria it took over a week of 'It's coming today' 'Actually it's not' from the guy who refuses to call anyone. I would wait home every single day for my goods, but they would not come. I was straight up ignored by the company. I managed to find another phone number and called, speaking to a woman who sympathized with me and said that the man I'd been talking to was notoriously terrible with communication. So why is he still working in that role?? Finally my goods did show up, but I was shocked to see that there were other customers goods in the truck that had been damaged by the moving team - large egg shaped chairs with long blue scratches across the sides from the trolley leaning against them, I hope that customer gave them hell. My things were delivered intact and nothing was missing, which was the only light at the end of the tunnel. I will never use their services ever again and I would never recommend them.
Moving can be stressful - Moving Mates will make it even worse
I moved from Palm Beach, QLD to Howmans Gap, Falls Creek Victoria.
I had 26m3 to be picked up from two locations in SE QLD - Yatala and Palm Beach. (I had the volume verified by three separate sources including the storage facility. I subsequently had the volume of the delivered items verified by a fourth party who finally delivered most of my belongings from Albury to Howmans Gap.)
I should have known better when the first truck arrived seven hours after the agreed time, was hopelessly prepared without enough blankets, ropes or paddin...g to protect my load and with insufficient space to collect my gear from storage. I then witnessed the hopeless packing and waste of space in the truck - I ended up taking my two sea kayaks on the roof of my car when I realised they had no idea. I had to leave to get down to commence my new role but was "assured' by Moving Mates ([name removed]) that they would Face Time or call me to ensure that the second load contained all of my belongings from storage. After that first load left I began to realise the mistake I'd made going with Moving Mates.
If you value your sanity - do not use Moving Mates!
I note someone has suggested to report problems with Moving Mates & I will most certainly do that. I have complained to Office of Fair Trading and they need people to submit Complaints before they can take action. Online reviews don't do the job alone. I note that many of the good reviews come from Moving Mates and its Director [name removed]. We know they can manipulate the content.
Meantime, I have been sitting in a cold and mostly empty house in the Snowy Mtns in the middle of winter, having moved from Cairns 7 weeks ago! Waiting for fur...niture delivery as per arranged (arranged on an alarmingly frequent nature I might add), has hijacked my whole life. They left part of my stuff in a Cairns rental house for several weeks, requiring me to pay rent on top of various other costs. I can't make them hold to their word and nor could Office of Fair Trading. Am consulting a lawyer now. You can still make a Complaint to Office of Fair Trading after the event.
Be very wary Scammers
This mob has been scamming a lot of people got me for $1500 was advised by ACCC to go to court misleading and deceptive practices they are under investigation by the ACCC and ASIC have their eyes on them now as well.......If they have already scammed you contact the ACCC
From Sydney to Geelong, late April '16. They scammed me, quoting an amount and then, with my goods in their van, claiming the packing had taken an inordinate amount of time. I had to pay them more than $800 more.
It eventuated that there were very few of my possessions they did not damage - many beyond repair.
If this form would allow it, I would post my review with zero stars - but it doesn't. The single star is grossly over the worth of this company.
