Initially good rate, then quickly increasing and you are trapped
I refinanced my home loan to NAB because they had the best rate. But they quickly steadily kept increasing my rate (relative to the market) only over a couple of years.
When I got a better offer from another bank, NAB reduced my rate, but still higher than my new offer (they just reduced it enough to make it not worth it for you to go through the trouble of refinancing).
6 months later I decided to refinance away anyway. But NAB hold on to your loan and would not let it go, while charging a high interest rate. When you call them you keep gett...ing hand balled (noone at NAB can see any actual issue) eventually to an unattended number, waiting for hours with noone answering. I also emailed them multiple times asking them to call me if any issue with the discharge. They take a few days to respond to all the emails with "we do not discuss this via email, please call the unattended number". Worst experience. They waste your time on purpose to keep charging you high interest rate. It's been months, the other bank has been all ready, NAB still wouldn't discharge it.
I have been a customer with NAB for 30 years, and today i`m going to close everything i have. The service has never been good. You are just a number in the big machine. Until you get some money of course and then you get a personal banker. Today I was told I could do an international transfer to buy a car because it didn`t adhere to NAB International transfer policies. I since missed that car. However Westpac were happy to help, so they will be getting my business from now on.
Suits me down to the ground
I have only ever borrowed once from NAB but have deposit accounts with it.
I find it excellent to deal with.
If there's a problem with a transaction, the call centre staff are normally most helpful.
Branch staff are fine too. However NAB closed the branch closest to my home but other banks are also doing this.
Ability to bank at Australia Post (Bank@Post) also very helpful.
Credit card is not as good as it was but that's the Reserve Bank's fault for changing the regulations about interchange fees.
Used to be good
I understand the staff are working from home but they need some serious training in how to listen to customers and take instructions. I spent 20 minutes on the phone advising of details with my banking only then to be told I will put you through to another area. Voice prompts is useless as well
Horrible service of the mortgage retention unit
Despite us being NAB loyal customers for many years, the poor service of the mortgage retention unit is appalling. We feel we are actually being harassed by the person who is handling our case which is simply to change our loans to a new package that has the new lesser interest rates offered by the bank. For this we’re offered two choices. One being we either keep paying the higher interest rate or limit our credit card limit from 10,000 to 2,000 dollars. This is ridiculous when we don’t have any incomes issues as well. It has taken 60 days so ...far for them to do this but still hasn’t been resolved. The complaint we have submitted has gone unnoticed. We will definitely look for another bank for our banking needs in the future. Appalling customer service!
I have been with NAB from 8 years now. The banking has been good, with good customer support.
It has been reliable in handling all the banking needs with good online and offline facilities.
The most unimpressive, uninvolved bank I have ever engaged with.
I have noticed with NAB that they are far behind the other banks in regards to the services they offer. For example, they do not offer cashless withdrawal as other banks do. And they do not offer a digital wallet as some other banks do. Regarding the latter, I had to cancel my card and order a new one. It has taken three days for the card to even be mailed at which point I am told that it will take another three to five days to arrive. That is, it will be over a week without access to my funds; and during a pandemic, this is even more frustrati...ng. When I was with Commonwealth, it was all dealt with in a matter of 3 days. When I was with ANZ, it also only took a matter of a few days. I understand that with post things are a little delayed. However, other banks offer a digital wallet in which the card is able to be activated and used via the app and as such, there is no delay in your ability to use your own money. NAB consistently finds itself lagging far behind the technology and services available from the other banks. It does not engage with its customers to the same standard as other banks. Avoid joining NAB. I will be leaving for another.
Zero would be preferable
This pandemic has highlighted the ugly side of what used to be a great bank to deal with. Callous, disorganised, and frustrating stonewalling tactics that make it impossible to get through to not only a real person, but to someone who can actually help. Since the 1st of July we have been trying to get a mortgage released in order to settle on 30th July. At this point no indication when that will be (3/8/2020). We have had to ask for an extension of settlement, allow purchasers early possession without settlement to avoid penalties, given up ...on phone contact, been to our local branch in a last ditch attempt to sort this out (wonderful, helpful person there last Thursday) and are still incurring daily interest on a loan that should have been settled last month. The absolute worst of it all is that not one person from the call centre has returned promised calls or emails to us or our conveyancer to let us know what is happening. Even with help from the branch we still are no closer to knowing when settlement will be. While we understand the difficulties that everyone is facing during the pandemic there is absolutely no excuse to be subjected to the very, very shameful lack of communication which has been the core problem to this whole distressing saga. Not good enough NAB. 10 years+ relationship sinking fast.

Clown goes on forever!
Since having an old inaccessible email account linked to nab I'm unable to get online to do my banking which has forced me to understand how pathetic and time consuming calling them up on the phone can be. The unskipable nonsense the guy dribbles on about has nothing to do with 90% of its customers l, or the genius one "please note the account order may have changed"...ummm no mate hasn't changed at all nor will it... Skip... Oh wait I can't skip this either? I just wanted a quick 30 seconds to transfer some funds but I'm here 10 minutes later because nab loves to talk absolute garbage whenever possible and force you to listen... SKIP!
I was looking at parking $250000 for a few months and was considering NAB but since being torturefd by their 'more than money' ad narrated by a primary school kid who wouldnt have clue there is no wsy. Only the useless Bankwest ads can rival it for sheer annoyance.
Don't thede big institutions realize how much their image and public acceptance is being damaged by their weak attemts to pull the wool over our eyes.
'More than money' what a JOKE.
Always on hold for minimum of 30 minutes,
I always prefer online banking, always! But when I was trying to dispute an online transaction they telling me I did something wrong! which was not explained what is wrong and advised me to contact they Hotline which I try to avoid as it is useless
My screen layout since updating is characters and alpha only ,no background no logout just an arrow right,,very poor, I have been with NAB for some 50 years,,yes it is reliable,,I only do online transactions
It end up costing me my home loan deposit, that I will never get back. Thanks for your incompetence NAB!
I recently applied for a home loan with NAB Double Bay Branch. They gave me a verbal approval saying that my home loan was approved and I only needed to provide some paperwork, like pay slip, bank statements, ID, etc.. which I did. I placed a home loan deposit with the real estate agency for $1150.00, thinking that I had the loan. Then they turn around and told me that they could not give me the loan because I did not have 20% deposit. They should have told me that earlier. It end up costing me my home loan deposit, that I will never get back. Thanks for your incompetence NAB! I feel really ripped off! Be aware not to trust this bank. The lender I was dealing with, has no idea.
New Spending Module
Has anyone used this new NAB online banking module, I have and it is terrible. The number of steps needed and the time taken to change an expense or income category is horrendous. Bring back the old Money Tracker I say, it may have had some faults (very few) but it was much faster than this new monstrosity.
Mobile App never working
Every time I try to transfer funds it states “retrieving accounts” yet it stays on this page for minutes on end without retrieving anything!! I log out and close only to have the same thing again.
This happened to me last week when I was at the shop, thankfully it worked after 4 attempts and waiting patiently, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to pay for the food!
However, tonight trying to transfer money to each account, and once again it’s not loading at all!
Fix the APP NAB!
I bank with ANZ (home loan) too and their app is Amazing and without issues.
New branch not so functional
A new Burleigh Heads branch moved from Treetop area to Stockland but unfortunately it is less functional than the old one since there is no coin deposit machine available in the new one; we expected more improvements from a brand new branch, and not leading to a worsening in the services.
Worst online customer service
Kept me waiting and then hung up after 1:32:59 of waiting time!!. If a customer has that much patience to talk with them why don't they have.
May be it is the maximum call time on the network. But if it is like this then why are they unaware of it. Why don't they synchronise the things
Don't try to contact NAB regarding home loans- they are not interested in your business.
I have an loan for an investment property and was interested in obtaining a quote from NAB - as I was thinking of moving banks to secure a better interest rate. I consequently phoned NAB's general enquiry number and explained my situation. I then gave my details and contact number to the NAB employee who told me that he would forward these to my nearest branch and that they would contact me directly. After waiting 2 weeks for a contact, I decided to phone again and went through my whole situation again and asked if 2 weeks was a reasonable t...ime to wait for a follow up call. This operator said that 2 weeks would like be 'a bit long' and he directly put my phone call through to my local branch. I then spoke to a branch employee (going through what I was wanting), he appeared quite helpful and said that although his lending manager was not available at the moment, he would give my details etc... to them and they would contact me to make an appointment. You can see what is coming...…. anyway I am still waiting for a call - which has now been nearly two weeks. I don't think I'll keep waiting and I guess NAB doesn't need anymore business ?!

I’ve been id at a nab branch but still can’t access my money
Dear NAB customers and Ex NAB customers,
Does anyone here know, do you need to have at least one transaction account or savings account with NAB, in order to maintain a credit card with them?
I would appreciate a response please.
Thanks in advance.
