Just installed this dashcam Navman MiVue540

Suction cup on mount is quite good with a good release mechanism. It wouldn't fit in my car as recommended by the instructions (Yes, you get an instruction manual). I've mounted it top left passenger side of the windscreen as it wouldn't fit behind the rear vision mirror or on the mirror mount. I've run the cable down the left side of the windscreen, across the bottom of same, then across the dashboard to the charger point with the excess cable going into the map pocket on the passenger side of the central console. Cable is quite long. It looks a bit unsightly but al least the driver's view is not obstructed. It is quite a small camera. Touch screen seems to work well. Menu is quite good, It has GPS tracking, an adjustable mounting, 1080p HD recording (will have to see how good it is), continuous event and manual recording, emergency video and photograph facility, allegedly improved night vision and a 3 axis shock sensor. On/Off switch is a bit small. Has parking mode which can be turned off / on as required. Got a good deal on it at Harvey Norman and was cheaper than JB HiFi. Downloading the MiVue management tool from the Navman site was a bit of a challenge as it is a cluttered website, but it can be found with a bit of intuition. I've put a 32Gig micro SD card into the unit. The management site looks like it may be interesting to play with. You can't plug the camera directly into your computer for this function. You have to use a card adaptor and a card reader for the management site. You can charge the camera via a mini USB port, but no cable is supplied with the camera. You can display to a HD device via the HD port, but again, the cable is not supplied.

Well, I've had it installed for a fortnight now and so far no problems. Due to the car that I have, the installation is somewhat less than cosmetic. I bought some temporary cable retainers that come with the removable adhesive pad and they seem to work a treat. Suction cup mount hasn't given way and the camera is still attached to the windscreen. So far. all good.Still no problems with this dashcam. Going on a road trip in October so it will be a chance to see how everything works. Suction cup mount is still holding on well.

Great Product - Works like a Dream

I have owned one for a bout a week, I purchased this second hand through a friend for $100
once it starts recording you can leave the item to run on auto mode. you never have to press a button or check up on it, it runs and does everything itself. easy to use, hassle free product.
