Terrible signal and constant drop outs
Worst router I've ever had. Problematic set up (requiring a call to support.) Unable to upgrade firmware. Pot luck signal (previous routers at some price range were much stronger) and constant drop outs if more that one device is using the internet. Avoid at all cost.
Purchased in November 2019 at Officeworks for $149.00.
Warranty policy is rubbish
Complete joke of a warranty. 6 mth old router stopped working after firmware upgrade. 1st phone call had the problem sorted after they calumet unit was 18months old - good thing for online registration. Router was covered under warranty. Email with rma - return policy email with different link was sent twice. No links worked. After 2 more calls waiting for approval again - they already had an approved case number for warranty was finally told they had to post the new unit out in 3 business days. I couldn’t return unit with receipt to Officeworks for exchange. Replacement makes Netgear warranty pointless.
Faulty product, Unable to restore saved "settings.CFG" file, and Woeful Support
Bought this modem/router for $149 from JB Hi-0Fi in September. By October the internet would lose connection and when I would walk in the next morning I would find it had reset back to factory settings, forcing me to re-initialise the wifi, rename the SSIDs, change the channels, change the passwords, and reconnect my NAS and wireless printer, and Samsung TV and 3 other iOS devices. After it did this about 8 times in a week, I thought it could be my power-boards, so went and bought surge protected Belkin boards and replaced the lot. It still kep...t doing it, so I setup the settings as per my usual configuration, and decided to backup my settings. So I followed the procedure: ADVANCED tab, ADMINISTRATION menu, BACKUP SETTINGS submenu SAVE A COPY OF CURRENT SETTINGS button (where I saved it to a file name "Netgear_D6000.cfg")
D-Link DVA-2800 ADSL2+/VDSL2 Modem Router with VoIP
Unless you are a communication engineer DO NOT buy this modem/router.
I purchased it because I wanted something easy to set up.
“Setting up the DVA-2800 is easy with the D-Link setup wizard. Simply open the setup utility and follow a few easy steps to get your home network up and running” - From the D-Link website.
The wizard does not work and the easy Voip set up with the drop down menu does not work. There is NO manual either with the product or online, only quick start. There help online is slow, two to three days.
Have a look at other problem with this model.
box of crap
Drops out for no reason, wont reconnect, have to go in through webpage to reboot, keeps losing wifi connections, wifi devices fail to get ip address. Worse in summer weather, tried putting heatsinks and fans on hot chips, worked better after. Now is cold weather and it is dropping out again. Ended up smashing with hammer in frustration. Never touch netgear crap again. I refuse to go through the crap of returning item and waiting wweks for repair or new one. I want the modem to work correctly 24 hours a day. Also had problems with webdav devices, would never work. Wont have netgear problems ever again!!!
Piece of Junk cannot believe JB Hifi and Harvey Norman have been selling it
The worst modem router I have ever purchased.
- wifi connections keep getting refused at will. rebooting modem fixes it but only for a short time
- ethernet connections also unreliable
- remote login does not work
- support line was unhelpful, unknowledgeable and inexperienced.
buy Netgear if you have money to waste.
D6000 – AC750 WiFi Modem Router - 802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit
Bought this router from Harvey Norman, it lasted about 6 months then died. It was replaced and then the replacement died after another few months. Complete waste of money and a piece of junk! Couldnt find an email contact for them from their site, every link O followed just gave me the run around. Wont be replacing it with another netgear!
terrible. waste of money and time
Got a D6000 router and its a piece of crap. Cannot connect to readyshare even though i had WD my book hard drive which on their website says highly compatible. As my router is only 6 months old, I tried to contact the Netgear and the customer care representative had poor English. I was trying to explain my problem to her and she wasn't understanding at all. It was terrible. Never gonna buy any Netgear product again. Thanks for wasting my money and time Netgear. Totally useless. Highly unreliable.
Fragile product and useless Support
I bought this router early April '16. I followed the brief installation instructions and changed the SSID and password to match my previous network name and password and that's where my problems started. I tested each of my devices to ensure they connected correctly to the network. I had to remove and reconnect a couple but they worked okay. The network then froze after an hour. I rebooted the router and again all was fine for an hour then it froze again. This pattern went on for the first couple days. I emailed NETGEAR support and was immediat...ely placed on the support 'merry go round' of unqualified people following their scripted responses and not providing any value. The only change I made during the install was to the default SSID / password and wondered if that was causing the instability so I reset the router to its factory settings and went through the installation process again. This time not changing the default settings. I did have to reconnect all my devices to the provided network name and password but it has been working reliably since. In summary, the router is working thus far but don't touch the default settings. And don't expect any help from NETGEAR's Indian call centre support. They are rubbish. This will be my last NETGEAR product.
An absolute junk
D6000 has junk software & device connectivity will keep dropping off/on. The problem seems to more on channel 6 for 2.4GHz. Any FW you load it will do the same thing until the unit decides to work on its own. Hard reset on FW 49 powers off the unit if button is held for more than 15secs. Only option is to pull out power cable and re-insert to get the unit back on. Best practice would be to save your working -if so- config to restore after erase or reset. Else you will need a hammer.
Bought this just over a year ago and it supposedly had a 1 year warranty. I could live with the fact it wouldn't connect automatically (just) but when the security flaw in it caused my internet quota to be destroyed in just days I figured it was time to get it fixed. The support team had a poor grasp of the English language so it took several frustrating attempts to outline the issue, then I was told it would cost me a minimum of $80 for technical support which I refuse to pay for something that is supposedly still under warranty. They told ...me the firmware I had was a beta version but when I checked the website it was definitely the latest release. They showed no empathy for my issue and seemed intent on charging you for incompetent technical support. I decided it would be cheaper to buy another brand of router from my ISP and let them deal with the support. At least I can communicate effectively with them. No more NetGear products for me.
The worst router ever
I bought the Netgear D6000 AC750 WiFi Modem Router but this wireless modem router was running very slow and it kept cutting out every time, which was a nuisance and a total pain. I would not recommend it at all so don't waste your money on something that is useless.
