Save yourself the hassle and don't buy this!
The service is aweful, battery subpar and they have repeatedly 'lost' my recordings from the cloud. Have a ready of their community page and see how often the service goes down. Recently lost 24H worth of videos because they updated the application with a bug! Do not buy, do not bother.
Should have gone with Swann
Worked great for the first few months but now the base station refuses to connect to the WiFi. Have tried every reset, unplug this unplug that, wait ten minutes. Nothing. Going in the bin I think. Also they dont tell you that to get the geo fencing it must be hard wired. False alarms are by the hundreds and this drains the batteries very fast. Swann works on heat not movement apparently.

Problem after problem
The Arlo Pro base stations have not been made or designed well. I recently purchased a third base station and the same problems of showing disconnected on the Arlo app and very delayed motion alerts. A hard reset of the base stations seem to fix the problem, but every app update seems to mess thing up again. The camera quality is very average of a "HD" security camera. The amount of money to go wireless is not worth it, if you have the option of wiring a power supplied wifi camera go for it. (I didnt have that option) Battery life has been good...on the camera's lasting about 3 or more months atleast. I hope the new 4k version and arlo smart home bases have a much better performance. Netgear have always produced good products, but this may be one that sinks that ship

Firstly, they are extremely expensive, the battery life is terrible as I can't get more than 3 days. You purchased the solar power units and they DO NOT improve battery life at all. During night time rain they do not work at all, and they freeze up at around 3 degrees. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY !.

Arlo Pro Not what you expect
I've had the Arlo Pro system for 2 years now. The Arlo PRO is an easy to use and easy to setup security system. It has great features however they are highly unreliable. The security system is totally dependent on internet access and the Arlo Cloud service. If either of these are impacted then your security system wont work. Many times i find a camera is offline when i needed to review footage. The Arlo service wont tell you if any specific cameras have shutdown. So you will need to regularly check on them and power cycle them in order to work...again. The biggest issue i have with the system is that of poor video quality. The packaging and marketing all say HD, however when viewing the videos it's not even close to being HD. It’s not even close to being SD. The quality is closer to VGA with images grainy and pixelated even at a very short distance (2 meters away). You need to keep in mind that the recorded video files are all stored on Arlo Servers, and the higher the video quality the more storage is needed to store the files. So the video captured is compressed to minimize storage, and as a result you end up with very low quality recordings. Forget about trying to get a clear image of a face at 2 meters away. It's not going to happen with this system. Other minor issues i've found: 1. the lack of timestamp on the video. So when you record you don't know the date or time of recording. I don't know if the video footage could be used in a legal sense. 2. motion sensing is unreliable 3. when motion is triggered sometimes it will only record 5 seconds of video before stopping, when i've set it up to record 2 minute fixed length 4. Service is intermittently offline. When i want to check footage, i find that there are hours of no recordings on some camera when there has been an incident in front of my house. There are blocks of time during the day/might where the system is not uploading video footage. 5. Support is terrible. You open up cases and they never update/respond. Their forums are littered with complaints.
Support really needs to be, exactly that.
I've always been a huge fan of the Netgear Arlo Pro and all their home security product range.
I have the Arlo Pro with 3 cameras @ business premises with 2 Arlo Q plus
I also have Arlo Pro with 4 cameras @ residential home and 2 Arlo Q plus along with a yearly premier subscription for just over 2 years now.
I've also helped numerous others in assisting with their Arlo purchases, I'm now concerned with their after sales support for issues after my dealings with them very recently. Admittedly they replaced a couple faulty cameras at the early ...stages of owning the first unit, however fast forward 15 months and one of my base stations died, which has effectively killed off 3 cameras at my business as the base station is required for them to work. After testing all plugs/ adapters and base stations with my home unit (which still works well) I decided to make the call to support. I am truly disappointed and disgusted with their initial assessment. Was told I needed to buy a new base station within 5 mins of the call. Was told it was out of warranty. I understand the 'tech support' had to run through some checks however the lack of empathy and 'who cares' attitude really irked me enough that I had to be firm and explain to them that I would not take no for an answer, and that I demanded a replacement.

Do Not Buy From This Company
On the 7th of January 2019 Arlo issued a press release stating they will be providing HomeKit support before the end of March 2019.
Not only have they failed to deliver HomeKit support they are deliberately ignoring requests for information on their own community site.
In my opinion this is deceptive practices to announce features on their devices then fail to deliver those features AND refuse to explain or provide details to their customers.

Unreliable and Buggy
This system promised so much, but has delivered only disappointment. It's extremely buggy: the (Android) app hangs a lot and needs killing and restarting; the app will send me constant alerts that motion has been detected (say I've got home and haven't yet disarmed it) but when I try to disarm the system the app will tell me my system is offline (while it's uploading the videos!); it can take me minutes to arm the system when I'm leaving the house (while still on my home wifi); if I open the app on my wifi then leave home and switch to cellular...data the app will need killing to get it to work again. Also the battery in one of the cameras will no longer charge (after only a year). And don't get me started on ways it could be improved, such as automatic disarming while my phone is on my home wifi network, that would be too convenient. I'll never be buying one of these again and am definitely regretting buying this one.
Warranty honored in the end, but...
It took three months of constant communications with Netgear to finally have them honor their warranty on Arlo Pro. They finally replaced camera, battery, and charger. Still awaiting the magnetic wall mounts. My two cameras work fine now, except for usual frustrations of time delay of captured events. Not perfect but okay, battery longevity issues.

Waste of money: Poor Video Quality
I've had this unit for a year now. My gripes:
1. this is NOT a HD camera. The video captured is grainy and pixelated. Support will blame your environment, but the reality is that all video clips are stored on Arlo's servers and not in your environment, so they need to compress the heck out of videos, to make them smaller, before they upload it. The result is poor quality video.
2. No date/time stamp on video.
3. If the camera unit is offline for any reason, you get no notification. You have to constantly check cameras to see if they are online.
4. there are a whole pile of paid reviews on line that talk about how great it is. Don't believe them. Go to the Arlo forums and check out all the issues for your selves.
It's utter garbage now.
Product updates killed functionality and the updated APP is a disaster and no one at ARLO gives a shit. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY unless you have absolutely nothing else to spend it on.
Poor warranty and customer service
On continuously, battery barely lasts 30 days.
Besides false claims on battery longevity, Neatgear’s Arlo wireless service is an exercise in frustration when it comes to honoring their warranty.
One year ago I bought an Arlo Pro (camera 1) and needed to expand the area to cover with cameras.
I then bought a refurbished Arlo Pro (let’s call it 2) at Fry’s beginning of September, set it up and left for a trip. In one month I got
no videos recorded on refurbished camera 2, which worked only in live mode when it wasn’t off Camera.
When the wireless camera 2 failed to recharge or work entirely, 2 months after purchased, I went to Fry’s where they told me to deal with Netgear for it. ...

Recharge every week which is a Major hassle.

Should be a lot better for the price
By the time it detects motion to the time it notify you. It takes too long there is at least a 3 second delay and it’s not my internet because I run Nbn at 100mps. It should be a lot better for the price you pay.
Support is terrible do not waste time
I purchased a 4 unit system 1 of the units arrived defective they have made it impossible to get the unit replaced. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone 3 calls and still the same script I need to return the whole system. This has turned me of net gear and their products for life.

Netgear Arlo Pro 2-2 Cams
We have found this product to suit our needs well although there is a time delay when the camera sensors movement etc. They have been in operation for approx 5 weeks now and the battery life is ok. Front is @ 85% and the back is @ 64%. This is with the existing battery charge out of the box. Back sees a bit more movement with pets etc hence increased battery usage.
But after reading some poor reviews prior to purchase re dropping off the internet, delayed pictures and poor battery life I bit the bullet and bought them. Very happy with the product so far and will expand with an extra cam soon.
The App is easy to use and the setup was easy too.
Total waste of money
Arlo netgear total waste of money. Can not log in arlo.netgear.com with Safari OS X 10.8.5 as there security is not unto date. Arlo's answer to the problem is to buy a phone and purchase the app.
Arlo Pro 2 - Defective product with ZERO support (and I was a huge fan)
Last year I purchase the Arlo system, but I had so many issues that Arlo replaced many of the cameras (after countless hours of troubleshooting and removing the camera's from around our property).
As I loved what Arlo was trying to do when I saw they had released the Arlo Pro I thought why not given them another chance! So I sold my old Arlo Pro system and replaced it with 6 Arlo Pro camera's, yes 6 and 3 Arlo Solar panels (plus various skin and other add ons)
To my horror when the batteries expired one by one we soon realised that the de...vices do not charge the batteries as there a serious defect with the device. In addition we noticed that only ONE of the 3 solar panels was charging the cameras (despite being in bright Australian sub all day long), again a problem with the charging hardware. After many many months of debugging with Arlo via their support function (well over 100 hours) we still have defective camera's that won't charge. I have asked for a solution over and over and all I get from support is we can help you debug it (despite the fault being verified over many months!). It's absolutely horrendous, at least with the first issue they replaced the defective device, our loyalty and faith in them has certainly not paid off and if it is not resolved soon they would have lost a loyal customer and brand advocate for life.
Do not buy!
we spent almost $1000 bucks for the cameras and then an upgraded google router, and $150 for a staples tech rep to help us figure out the installation. what a total waste of our money. the camera's are clear when they work, the night vision isn't that great, the microphone doesn't work to speak to somebody outside, but you can hear someone speaking to you. the arlo tech support is abominable, their website is horrible, if and when you can get into chat, (they charge you for a live person),the rep doesn't have the answers, he just told me to wa...it for an email and that their servers are down. that was 2 weeks ago, no email. was able to get from my cell only, can't get on from my laptop. keep getting this cryptic error " You may be logged into NETGEAR Arlo in a different browser tab. Please close the tab before proceeding. You can also try to restart your browser or delete cookies from your browser before trying to login again." what the heck does that mean? meanwhile, someone could be in my house and I CAN'T SEE THEM BECAUSE ARLO DOESNOT WORK. then this morning i could find this problem in the community forum, now i can't. the section "ask a question" doesn't work. I've had it with this product and if there was some way to get a refund i would but we have had it about 6 months. do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY THIS JUNKY PRODUCT
