Our dog had the product and the next day was bleeding from his rectum. He is still very ill and it has been so hard on all concerned especially him. If you love your dog then review the product in the USA where it is off market.

Do not buy, gives dogs bad skin
What a joke of a product, should be band, this product gave my dog bad skin and rashes . We thought it was a food allergy but the food we gave did not change. We also did a allergy test which didn’t lead to anything that was obvious to exclude. Even went down the omega supplement root and tried many other things to find out what had happen to my dog when he had perfectly fine great skin and suddenly it went really bad to the point he was finding it hard to sleep. Then I met some lovely lady at the dog park who had a similar issue with her dog ...and suggested I change my flea and worm treatment as she use to use this product and had a similar issue . I have since stopped using the product and it’s been 3 month. Gradually the skin got better and he is still getting better weekly . Nothing has changed only the fact that we stopped giving him this joke if a product . Almost feels like they do it in purpose to support a false allergy industry for dogs which is a growing problem ! Do not give this dangerous product to your dog . It’s not worth the risk .

My Havanese now has liver issues after 3 doses (within 3 months)
My Havanese puppy (who was normally very playful, active and had great appetite) received his 1st dose of this when he was about 6 months as recommended by his vet. I noticed he lost his normal appetite on day 1, but did not pay much attention to this as he seemed to gain his appetite again on day 2. Come 2nd dose of this and my puppy seemed a bit more lethargic, did not want to eat or drink for about 2 days, and was not really wanting to do much but lay down. I was starting to get alarmed, but the vet reassured me that this Nexgard Spectra is ...definitely safe and that puppies get tummy bugs every now and then and he should be alright and back to his old normal self in a day or 2. It took him about 5 days to recover after the 2nd dose. Time for the 3rd dose, and I was still trying to believe the vet that this could not possibly harm him and that this is for his own good considering the dangers of dog parasites that are around as per the vet's words of reassurances. After the 3rd dose, my puppy was terribly sick, vomited a few times (bile-looking vomits), was very lethargic not wanting to do anything but lay down, not wanting to eat or drink, had bloody diarrhoea, and looking really sick for almost about a week. So this really alarmed me and took my dog to a different vet and insisted that they do a blood test as I did not believe the vet when she said it may just some random belly bug. This particular vet also insisted that she hasn't heard any reports of issues about the Nexgard Spectra, and in fact it is best for the dogs to receive this for their own safety from dog parasites. Anyway, the results of my puppy's blood tests came back and his liver enzymes were abnormal. The vet then suggested that we do the blood test again in 3 weeks time just to see if the liver enzymes may be back to normal. Unfortunately, it was still abnormal. I have never given him Nexgard Spectra again after the 3rd dose as I really believed it had damaged his liver after 3 doses. He had since been referred to specialist vet, (who by the way is also saying there is nothing wrong with Nexgard), and has had ultrasound as well as an abdominal exploratory laparotomy (by now costing a few thousands of $$$$$). The findings from his ultrasound and exploratory laparotomy is that he has almost non-existent gallbladder and that he has liver disease on its early stage. His liver enzymes are still out of whack (even though he is on few different medications to try and correct this) 5 months later, and my poor puppy who turned 1 last January, is still experiencing on and off episodes of lethargy, bile-vomiting, diarrhoea, not wanting to eat or drink, or not wanting to do what he normally likes to do (zooming or running around, playful). I firmly believe that this was all because of this Nexgard Spectra. He was fine until I started giving this to him as per vet's recommendation. Now, I don't know how long I will have him for, or if he will soon start having seizures as his liver starts to get worse. I'm heartbroken (including the rest of my family) that this has happened to our Havanese. He has brought so much happiness to our household since we brought him home. Seeing him gets sick on & off just about every other week break my and my family's hearts. For now we still have him, and on good days when he isn't sick and he is back to his bouncy, playful and loving self, we appreciate him even more. I really hope that the medications (the vets are trying out a few to see which will work best with him) help him to feel well again. In hindsight, I should have listened to the breeder whom I bought my puppy from. She warned me not to put my puppy on Nexgard Spectra and just give him a separate tablets for intestinal worms & a different tablet or injection for heartworms, & just use an anti-tick collar. Because according to her, these breeds of little dogs don't tolerate Nexgard Spectra well and she also said that she had one of her puppy died from it at around 1 year old after giving it Nexgard monthly. Hence she's never used this tablet on any of her dogs again since then. However, all vets I have spoken with does not agree with this. It makes me wonder why? After reading all these reviews on here, I'm really wondering why no vets are paying attention to us who have dogs which have had these issues with it.

Terrible product. My dog , a healthy 15 months old Labrador, had a bad reaction
He had extreme diarrhoea where we passed stool all night. In the morning he looked sick, was whimpering and wasn’t eating anything. This was not the first time it happened but definitely the worst reaction he’s had. We are not using this product anymore as it doesn’t seem like a safe option

Absolutely Toxic. Almost killed by little dog.
Please, I absolutely urge you to not even chance using this product on your dog. The neurological effects it had, my dog almost lost the function of his back legs. Besides blood in his vomit and diarrhoea. I am blessed to still have him. The product is absolutely toxic and dangerous. Milk Thistle and prescription pain relief got him back to himself. Although some days he still requires medication over a year later.

This product is toxic & should be not be on the shelves.
Our 2 year old Labrador has had 2 seizures since being given this product. He is now on medication for Epilepsy. He has also become more anxious since his seizures and has to have blood tests to make sure medication isn't harming his vital organs. Will be using natural remedies from now on.

Danger this is poison
My blue heeler had this product for 2years,he had seizures from the age of 8 months, the vet said he was epileptic,he was getting worse and we nearly lost him my wife did her home work,on this poison,we STOPPED it straight away, he has not had a seizure, for 12 months, DONT give this drug to your pet it can KiLL , we now use one that goes on his coat, no more problems look around talk to your vet
Dogs haven’t been good since taking this
Always worm my dogs twice a year, unfortunately the vets recommended that we use this product this time round. Both dogs have now been battling sickness off and on for 2 months (stomach and intestinal issues), I am absolutely furious about it. Both now at a new vet who wouldn’t be drawn on the product but just said they don’t stock it, or use it commercially or privately, enough for me.

Made him sick, still unwell 4 days later.
We gave this to our dog on Saturday and he was vomiting and had diarrhea the next day. 4 days later and he still has diarrhea and is not himself.
This progressed to passing blood and mucus and losing weight. We stopped giving it to him, got a refund from the pet shop and two months later he is healthy and putting weight back on.
We had a few trips to the vet for stomach issues and blood in his stool over the months preceding this, but hadn't made the connection until the last time, when the problem escalated.

Questions & Answers
Hi, our puppy bordoodle is now 10 months old and he has been taking this product since we bought he when he was 2 months old and we took him to check up, the vet recommended this product Nesgard-spectra to us. I have been looking for the alternative brand for him before. I was shocked and saw this product only 2 stars here. I read all the comments and it's scared me now. Could anyone give me another suggestion? Thanks
We too have been giving it to our 2 dogs since it was on the market. However it appears to build up in their systems and we almost lost both our fur babies the last time. Our larger poodle was bleeding from the bowel. If you check on the American site you can see that it has been removed from sale as it kills the dogs. As far as alternatives go I think the drop behind the neck seems to work for most dogs. I believe the problem comes in when the drug contains everything ..ticks, flees and worms. You may just cut back to the tick and flees then 2 weeks later give them a separate wormer. But check out the American reviews first. You can also give them a probiotic for dogs for good stomach health. We do now.
My dog is 18 kg and then exhaust spectra I have is 7.6-15kg. Should I give her 2 chewable tablets?
