Nintendo 3DS XL

Love it – I like the XL for several reasons: its screen is 90% larger, and although the number of pixels is the same as the smaller 3DS, it looks great in all games. It also feels stronger and has a slightly longer battery life
Perfect – This is a really good system and the best dual screen console it’s new xl and has the best games like tomodachi life, ssb, miitopia its great the best features about it is the via street pass feature so you can walk with your 3ds anywhere and meet new people meeting those people can give you game credits to play mini games on streepass this is a dual screen console and the best console it’s amazing also featuring the analog stick.
Love it – This is the best thing you could ever buy in your life it's great for your kids sleep overs really long car bus or train trips like I do with my three year old it holds it charge so great we can both play for the trip I really love it getting my bf one next
Great Entertainer – Its a great device, has alot of features and so much memory space. You can save games on the device so you not always changing the cards to play games. The XL has a larger screen great for kids that are hard of seeing. This device is much better then the 3DS due to it's big screens and extra memory space.
kids love it – Yep i bought one of these for my kids and they love it.only thing bad is the price ,a bit high for what you get .the games are in cartridge form so no scratched disc's to cry about. Wish i could have afforded to buy two as they fight over the one i bought between them .great product
So much fun! – Brilliant portable little device! The screens are just the right size for easy portable gaming and I'm able to play so many different types of games - including old retro games that were released for the Game Boy! The 3D effect is absolutely amazing - they finally got it to work! So happy with it!!!
Perfect portable gaming console – This is the perfect gaming console for anyone on the go the bigger screen of the xl far exceed the small screens on the smaller model. The 3d mode is preety useless but the console has some fanstastic games and its backwards compatiablity with older titels makes it the perfect console to binge through the old ds libabry
Been loving it since day one – I've had my themed Zelda N3DSXL for a year now and have had absolutely no problems with it and has brought me so much joy when I want to relax or when passing the time. The street pass feature is amazing and great way to interact with other 3ds users you encounter throughout day. If you do not have a 3ds yet, go and get one now so you can join the awesome 3DS community.
New 3DS local stock - TN and Faulty panels - Warning – To spot a TN screen it has a bit of a yellow tint when not turned on, when turned on its washed out and bland. Anyway on Friday i went with my sister to pick her up an N3dsXL at target "Perth", took the Blue one out of the box and checked it.. In the very bright lights of Target it seemed fine compared to mine, went home .. and looked at it… Read more
from the side…seemed a bit white and washed out… turned off the lights and it was Terrible, anyway we went to another Target store and replaced it .. took it out the box and the counter girl said is that the faulty one? .. we said no that's the new one … she then pointed out the backlight bleeding.. the seal to the top monitor was torn and see could see 4 lights shining from the bottom .. There wasn't any stock left "both stores they were the last 1" and we went home disappointed … gonna go to another store Monday but that might also be Tn…
So be Warned.. If you're looking to buy a new 3DSXL be aware of faulty products and low quality TN screens, be sure to get that IPS "top panel, bottom doesn't matter that much" be sure to Return it if you get a bad one.
Stopped working after 11 months, company refuse to repair – My Autistic child received 3DS XL last Christmas, he lives for this, he's getting new games this Christmas but the device just stopped working, it was immaculate and well looked after, my husband opened it to see it there was anything abviously wrong, it wasn't touched, closed and sent for repair but now Nintendo refuse to repair it, despite that… Read more
I am happy to pay for the repair. The manager was cold and officice, quoting policy re tampering, no sense of good will, now left with a non functioning ds and two games for Christmas.
The New 3DS XL, this is what I wanted years ago – I'll admit up front that I haven't had a nintendo console since the gameboy advance. So when I tried this in EB Games, I was really impressed by the 3D effect. It had good depth, was clear and didn't fall apart if I moved my head. I had tried the previous 3DS XL, but it was just too hard to keep my head in the right place for the 3D. So I… Read more
bought one, and a few games. And a power supply - bad choice Nintendo, even if I had a previous console I'd probably have sold it / given it to someone who would have needed the old power supply.
But I'm having trouble putting this thing down. The games really pull you in, and the graphics are great for a handheld. Mario Kart 7 looks so much better than it did on the N64, and the ability to play against other 3DS handhelds with just a single cartridge is great. I've tested it with a 2DS and it worked fine, though it did take much longer to start each game, as the track is sent via wifi to the other device.
3D is great. Still loving it after hours of use. I've read on the old model that people play it in 2D mode and occasionally flick the 3D on to see an intro, but I'm the other way round with this. 3D all the time, but occasionally flicking it into 2D to see how dull games used to look. You can fool the head tracking if you turn your head away then look back - it's odd for half a second then works again. I might try sticking a fake eye to my forehead to see what it does.
Battery life has been good, I've been playing for 3+ hours at a time, and only used 1 battery bar out of 3. Maybe the rest disappear quickly, but I haven't used it long enough to find out.
Games are mostly of the fantasy / fighting / exploring genres. Some are way overpriced - $89 for a 3DS game. Really? But EB Game's pre-owned games work out much cheaper, and the cartridges should last okay.
Sound is good, it does a kind of fake surround thing. Maybe it could be louder. Most of the time I get asked to turn it down.
The console is also full of parental controls, so you can lock bits of it down if you are giving it to young kids, limiting internet and store access. There are warnings about not letting kids under 6 use 3D, but you can't prevent it's use with a PIN.
Pros:
Great 3D. You'll keep it on, unlike the previous model.
Games are well written and cover all ages.
Small, the battery lasts well.
Keep kids quiet when you're out without giving them your phone.
Keep husbands quiet when the pub is shut.
Cons:
No power supply. Okay, it's only $15.
Bit of a pain to get to the micro SD card.
Parents have to search a bit to find all the parental controls.
Great Library of Game, Decent Quality – This is the slightly newer version of the original 3DS XL but now with 'Super Stable 3D' feature that sort of works, NFC for amiibo figures, slightly new design, New ZL & ZR buttons and a c stick which does not move like the lenovo/IBM red trackdot. It is compatible with all* DS and 3DS games as well as New 3DS exclusives. The Quality is… Read more
decent, a bit plasticity, but the screen is pretty floppy when you move it even though it clicks into place.
Screen is the same as before with a low 480x240 resolution but is justified by the fun games.
Camera is a 3D and slightly improved in low light and colours but with the same 0.3MP VGA camera so don't bother using it as a daily camera.
Battery life is around the same as the Old 3DS XL with 4-5 hours play time on 3DS games in 2D.
Price is the same as the old 3DS XL but it does not supply a charger or a lanyard. RRP is $249 AUD or $199 USD. Charger would be $15 AUD or you can buy a $2 cable off ebay.
Are you a person who does not have a 3DS at all? You should get one – Are you a person who does not have a 3DS at all? You should get one. The 3DS XL is a very good gaming machine, possibly the best portable gaming device ever. The 3DS XL isn't just full of potential. It's a well-designed machine that plays an absurdly rich array of excellent video games. Don't forget the street pass feature and you meet new people… Read more
and exchange puzzle pieces and fight to freedom. The 3DS XL is a good size. It plays great games. Its battery lasts a cross-country flight. What's not to like? Avoid the system only if you can't deal with graphics meant for a 90% smaller screen being blown up, though. Otherwise, the 3DS XL is the superior 3DS handheld. It's the one to get. So go BUY IT!!!! The positives of the super-sized handheld are, as should be expected of a new iteration, fairly substantial. There’s no second Circle Pad. This has caused quite a lot of debate on this site and elsewhere, as some gamers see a new system without, from their perspective, a vital extra control method.
