Lost trust in this D23 Navara
Bought new May 2019.Stood 7 months at dealer with diff (x5), turbo, brake booster, climate control and key fob problems. Dealer repurchased from me at 9000kms. Bought a Toyota HiLux instead even though Navara has more features and better ride and fuel consumption.
Purchased in May 2019 for $30,000.00.

Watch for Oil Leaks!
I have had my 2017 NP300 RX 4x4 work vehicle since 2017 and it has now travelled 80,000km, 80% highway, 20% offroad. The NP300 is a comfortable and quiet ute on the road, and is economical. However, it is not what you call tough offroad or reliable. I have looked after the vehicle and it has been serviced by Nissan since new. Issues I have had include :
- Oil sump leaking oil (wife not happy with driveway) - Fixed by Nissan under warranty
- Fuel filler cap stopped opening
- Oil leak between engine and gearbox (approx 70,000km's) - Nissan needed...

Oil leak!
Car went in Sept 2018 for service and oil leak.
They had to replace oil seal (apparently common problem).
My car is now back for the 4th time to fix oil leak. It is now leaking from sump and Nissan can't seem to fix it. The car is now standing there for almost a month.
Had a call from them last week that car was fixed, but when I went to pick it up, found oil leak. Told them that I am not taking the car.

Cabin noises from engine
Disappointed cabin noise to loud to have a conversation
Just hit the 1000 ready for first service
Went for a four hour drive .stopped and didnt want to drive any further. The noise from the engine left my ears ringing. Noise causes stress stress causes fatigue. Fatigue causes accidents
Will be talking about this at the first service

Death trap
2016 dual cab flat deck Ute, quite possibly the worst vehicle I’ve ever driven, the vibration at low speed (30ks) plus nearly makes the steering wheel jump out your hands, once up to highway speeds the Ute feels like a hippo in the ballet any undulating road will throw the Nissan around. The rear shock on drivers side has snapped 3 times in a year, the paint is so thin my applied that typical wear areas are bare metal, even plastic trim inside is lose and worn, auto performance is ok when finally moving but hesitation for accelerating is danger...
Read moreous. Recently took off-road through shallow river next morning Ute was in recovery mode, no power I’ve since read that the auto gearbox is terrible for water crossings. In summary if you want a real Ute get a Mitsubishi.Rino.fSydney, NSW
Vibration and fuel consumption
The vehicle vibrates at 88 km to 110km from day one .. it has been in for service 4 times and the sevuice manager is also feeling the vibration .. they can’t fix it .. first they blamed the rims and tires that was supplied by them as a upgrade. We been 3 times for wheel balancing and alignment nothing worked. Then Nissan fitted original tires again nothing the vehicle vibrates through the front seats and mores visable when taking bends on highway driving. Feels like your in a vibrating machine.. terrible . Then they suggested I add a app on my...
Read more phone to test vibration.. as they tried to tell me it was exceptable .. so I did my on testing and it was shown a it wasn’t within giudlines. I have Nissan customer care and the dealer ship trying to say it’s normal. I’m not excepting it as they have said it was a problem with this series .. when I first brought it to there attention. Also we have had the manifold changed at 10,000 km as it was a known problem and haven’t made it aware to the public as yet. As for fuel consumption I’m getting 11.8 km per 100km which is terrible and that is suburb driving no where near the 7.9 combined .1 comment

Disappointing to say the least!
Ever since new this ute has given me trouble.
Almost a lemon!
As soon as I left the dealership I new it didn't have the power it should, also once on the freeway there was a terrible shake right through the whole ute.
I went to the local Nissan dealer straightaway and they found that there was a problem with the turbo boost...that was fixed! as to the wobble......sorry we cant find anything!
I drove for another 5000km....then totally feed up!

Not what I expected
Not what I expected at all
Poor quality
Nissan used to be good but this quality has gone down
Dealership service terrible they don’t care that the ute is falling apart after 1 year
Waste of money avoid at all costs
Very disappointed
Even my mechanic was shocked how poorly built
They are not made to last anymore
Ended up selling it
Wont ever buy another nissan!
The interior is nice and comfortable and looks like a nice ute, but that is where it stops. Rear main seal went at 19000km. fuel economy isnt as great as advertised. Driver seat back keeps dropping back. 2 12v plugs have not been working. Head unit screen sometimes doesnt come on and the nav is all out of whack. I wouldnt recommend this car to anyone.

Has a lot of bad design "features", not recommended
RX twin Cab
7000km in
Really basic interior
Horn sticks out too much and is bumped with parking/turning
lack of features like reversing camera etc, pretty basic stereo
km to empty gauge stops giving you info when you are around 80km of fuel left
600-700km per tank of fuel - normally 600km
stereo volume jumps are too wide its either too loud or too quiet
AC under powered on hot days
Heater takes forever to heat up

1700 kms Already leaking oil
Background: previous car was a d40 st dual cab auto 2012. Sold with 254000 kms, never leaked or used a drop of oil. Spent half the week towing a big heavy trailer. Only problems were suction control valve($190) and 30 min job, rear tail shaft uni joint($36)1 hour.
Bought the new model st expecting much the same.
The good: Interior looks nice, much more modern.
Fairly comfortable seats.
7 speed gearbox has good ratios that seem well suited to towing (much better than my prado with the 2.8 6 speed auto)

Horrible build quality.
We bought two dx cab chassis and one stx dual cabs as company vehicles in December 2015. All three now have between 40k and 50k. From the moment they were delivered, we noticed that the engines of one of the dx and the Stx rattled a lot more than the other dx. We bought this to nissans attention at all three of their service intervals but we were told it's just bad fuel, which we struggle to believe as all three Utes are filled at the same service station (next door) at the same time! All three Utes are still running, but i find it extraordinar...
Read morey that one of our base models runs quieter than our top of the range ute. At 30k our stx had the left control arm replaced under warranty due to faulty manufacturing. Unfortunately, it cost us a set of tyres before Nissan acted even though we kept telling them that wheel kept scrubbing out.(my husband rotated the tyres trying to even out the wear, which ultimately destroyed all four). Nissan won't replace the tyres that their control arm damaged. They argue that we should have told them.........mick oScone n.s.w
not a tow ute at all
this is a nice ute to drive as a get about but the rear end is not up to or even close to a 3.5 ton tow ute it has had more problems than I wish to put down with the electrics had to be towed away today as the key fault stops it no back up to start manually and very little help from dealer we have our own tractor dealership and if we did this to our customers we would not have many we have Toyotas and VW utes with more KS and no problems as yet we would give it a 9 out of 10 for the options as std but no way will we buy a Nissan again

Atroucious service
The driving experience is brilliant, handles a little like a boat but is quiet and comfortable. The interior is quiet nice, modern and spacious. The reliability up until 15000km was fine, then as people already know if they have read my first review the low end turbo basically disintegrated inside itself which damaged engine also. It's now been since the 23/11/16 up until now and still have not got my ute back. They are putting a new engine in at this moment, under Australian consumer law if it is a major fault i can demand a new one or repla...
Read morecement. Nissan Australia don't think the same way, after countless phone calls and costly downtime of my building company they offered me 5 year warranty and a fee service for my inconvenience WHAT A JOKE. I have never been treated so bad after spending 85k when I bought 2 of them earlier this year, the other ute I'm guessing is a ticking time bomb. I probably wouldn't have been writing these reviews if I had been treated with respect and been given a similar replacement vehicle straight away rather than 4 weeks after which cost my company a lot of money.MickSydney, NSW
Oil leak, distance till empty way off and noisy tailgate.
Discovered oil leak at 6700klm took it to nissan was told it was the rear main seal. Will have to wait a week till they get the part. Distance till empty is way off nissan can't tell me why.... also rear tailgate is loose and noisy will get nissan to have a look at it next week when they fix the oil leak. Crap go nissan crap car aswell... will be selling it and going back to a SR5 hilux.

Bad taste
My 3rd Navara, but 1st NP300 & last. Test drove 4 versions (all auto's), only to find drivers foot rest not fitted after delivery. Turns out Nissan in their wisdom don't think it's needed for a manual, try resting your left leg on a 400k plus point to point drive non stop. Told I should have brought an auto after contacting Nissan, but I'm not a lazy driver, come on Nissan, listen to your buyers & not your overseas mates, this is Australia. Otherwise truck is good @ 1280klm.

New Nissan Navara car that leaks oil????
Flat spot on take off. Sometimes dangerous entering oncoming traffic. Vehicle leaks oil after only 18500 km.... Hope all problems can be rectified at the Dealership. Toll Free number cuts off and cannot ring through to schedule service. Why? Fleet companies require services to be done within strict periods when service due. Three week backlog to get in for scheduled service at a Nissan Dealer. If doing big km per month, Fleet company complains? Answer please?

NP300 Navara ST-X Daul cab Sat Nav out of date Mapping software install on new NP300 st-x ,2015
NP300 ST-X 2015 Brisbane owner ,Not happy ,Only 4 weeks of ownership
When buying a brand new NP300 ST-X plated 2015 with sat nav ! Cost over $52,000 on-roads , I found out today 9/6/2016 the sat nav mapping is over four years old ,At first I thought this may have been a over site on Nissan's behalf. Boy was I wrong , Nissan Australia doesn't want to know about unless you pay and The Brisbane dealership wants you pay extra for the privilege of having software that should have been already installed before delivery , Please be aware,...

Read more! , As a business owner towing a trailer with two ride -on mowers , the NP300 lacks power for up hill run .And which is a concern ! If your towing any trailer over 1.8 ton Please don't use the Narava .the spec's many say the Navara towing is 3.5 braked , But a simple fact is towing anything over 1.8 up to 2 ton the NP300 engine doesn't have the power .The New car reviews on the NP300 Navara by so call 4x4 experts regarding towing is , the biggest load of B & S ever put on media . My Advice to all tradies is take your loaded trailer or caravan and hook it to a Navara st-x dual cab ute and test drive it first ,only then will you understand my concerns and Please don't take the salesman advise or Media you will be sadly disappointed , as these guys are paid to sell you this pile of crap !Problems From Day 1
The NP300 I purchased was a demonstrator, and had done around 5000km. I have since put on another 10,000kms. In this time, I have had a number of issues, including a knocking/clicking sound coming from the underside of the vehicle when I accelerate. I rang Nissan, and they told me not to drive it, and would organised for it to be towed to the local dealer. The local dealer had it for 3 days, heard the sound, but could not work out why. They reset the computer, and sent me on my way. It's now been 2 months since that happened, and the sound keep...
Read mores coming back, but only when I accelerate while in gear driving. The dealership where I bought it from (about 2 hours away from where I live) have finally got their fingers out, and have organised for me to take it to them to try and fix it. They are also going to fix the following: The Nissan supplied tray hard cover leaks water when you drive in the rain, the tray cover locking mechanism does not work, you have to use the key to get into it. The steering wheel is out of alignment (the steering is fine, it's the steering wheel that is off centre). Hopefully, they will fix these, but then again, the tray hard cover had problems when I picked it up from the dealer, which they rushed to try and repair, obviously, they did not do a great job. To be honest, I will probably replace it with a third party canopy and sell the ute hard cover on Gumtree or the like. I have towed a large heavy trailer in it, and it seems to have no problems. The fuel economy I believe is not what they claim it to be. It seems to now burning through the fuel more now than when I first bought it. Turning circle is better than a Hilux, but still not great. Why on earth they put a drinks holder in the middle of the rear passenger seat is beyond me, especially if you have three people in the back. I tool mine out so it didn't get broken. For such a large car, it has very little space on the inside. The rear seat is great for dogs, but not for teens or adults. And there is no pockets on the rear of the front seats, and a pitiful amount of storage space. Drink holders must have been on special when they designed this car, as there are two in the dashboard in the front, as well as one in each door. I would have preferred no drink container in the dash, but rather a little tray or storage well to house bits and bobs. Dust gets sucked in sooooooo easily into the rear of the tray. Seriously, you can get inside, close the lid, and still read a book with the amount of space/light coming in through the tailgate! I've had to buy rubber seals, and try and block the 1 inch space to stop dust from coming in. This seems to be an impossibility. Dust getting into the back of this tray is just something that you will have to get used to. I learnt the hard way by having expensive camera gear in the back while heading outback to do some filming. Lucky the gear was in bags, but still, I had to wipe down my bags before I could even open them. If you have gear and equipment that could be effected by dust and dirt, this ute tray design is going to disappoint! I have to put my cameras in the back seat to protect them from the dust, which then prevents me from bringing assistants along in the one car to a shoot. I wish I'd known about these dust issues! The rear window is great for letting your dogs stick their heads out of the window, and for releasing hot air from the cabin. It becomes useless if you add a canopy. I purchased this vehicle because I had to get rid of my VW Caravelle as it had done close to 300,000 and was developing problems, and Nissan were doing 1% finance. I also thought a 4WD for going filming into more remote parts of Australia would be handy. If I had my time over again, I would have NOT purchased this car, and perhaps would have looked more seriously at the Ford Ranger, or go back to a new VW Caravelle van. Maybe a ute just doesn't really work for me. When my 3 year lease is up on this car, I will be trading it in on a different vehicle that is for sure!BrendanSouthern and Hills, SA

4 years and 70,000km in....not a great experience
Pro's = comfortable and functional interior, the power rear window is actually useful at sucking hot air out when driving. Good LED headlights, rear air con vents.
Con's = absolutely woeful steering rack speed requires more effort and input than anything else I've driven. lower ride height than almost every other 4x4 Ute on the market, no steering wheel reach adjustment, no ambient temp read out (S1), rear tie down points on models other than the STX model are awkward to use-mainly with ratchet straps, the motor.....it is not refined despite w...
Read morehat they say, under light throttle and deceleration the injectors are so noisy people look at me, it is one of the noisiest diesels I have ever had which is unacceptable in this day and age compared to others on the market. It jerks and jumps around if you don't take off in 1st gear....particularly annoying when taking off from low speeds having to stop then go back to first to be able to get going again. noisy driveline/diff. poorly designed (after thought) child restraints, insane amount of wind noise when at freeway speeds, from top of the windscreen from what I can pinpoint it to. Very thin and poor quality paint work, scratches and chips at even the slightest touch. Ok so I've just hit 4 years and 70,000km In that time it has never been off road, never towed, it is my family car that I use to travel 100kms each day up and down the freeway for work..a very easy life for it. In that time I have had the following replaced/repaired: -MAF sensor -eye level brake light-severe water leaking into cabin -roof lining (water damage from leaking brake light)Purchased in October 2015 at Nissan Dealers for $42,000.00.

Hi. I have a new 2020 Navara ST D23 series 4. There is no battery sense module on the negative terminal and I am wondering if the vehicle has a smart or variable voltage alternator. I am fitting a dc2dc charger to a hybrid camper I’ll be towing and it will make a difference when installing an Anderson plug
