4 years and 70,000km in....not a great experience
Pro's = comfortable and functional interior, the power rear window is actually useful at sucking hot air out when driving. Good LED headlights, rear air con vents.
Con's = absolutely woeful steering rack speed requires more effort and input than anything else I've driven. lower ride height than almost every other 4x4 Ute on the market, no steering wheel reach adjustment, no ambient temp read out (S1), rear tie down points on models other than the STX model are awkward to use-mainly with ratchet straps, the motor.....it is not refined despite w...
Read morehat they say, under light throttle and deceleration the injectors are so noisy people look at me, it is one of the noisiest diesels I have ever had which is unacceptable in this day and age compared to others on the market. It jerks and jumps around if you don't take off in 1st gear....particularly annoying when taking off from low speeds having to stop then go back to first to be able to get going again. noisy driveline/diff. poorly designed (after thought) child restraints, insane amount of wind noise when at freeway speeds, from top of the windscreen from what I can pinpoint it to. Very thin and poor quality paint work, scratches and chips at even the slightest touch. Ok so I've just hit 4 years and 70,000km In that time it has never been off road, never towed, it is my family car that I use to travel 100kms each day up and down the freeway for work..a very easy life for it. In that time I have had the following replaced/repaired: -MAF sensor -eye level brake light-severe water leaking into cabin -roof lining (water damage from leaking brake light)Purchased in October 2015 at Nissan Dealers for $42,000.00.
I regret it
It's falling apart. 15000 ks everything rattles. Goes ok most of the time then runs horribly for no reason. Hard to start if u leave it in the sun. Steering ride and clearance really disappointing off road. Needs a 2 inch lift just to match other Utes clearance. High fuel consumption. Not even six months old and feels like it's 15 years old. Completely different to how it was brand new

Speedometer Error
Just turned over the 1,000km and have it booked in for the free (visual) 1/2hr check. During the week my wife and I thought we seem to be driving very slow compared to the speedometer reading. Happen to pass a Radar Speed Check and we found that at 100kph (cruise control set) actual speed was 89kph. Wow what a shock, fuel economy is bad enough at 9.8L/100 but if travelling at actual speed, it would be worse. All cars must fall within the parameters of an Australian Design Rule that requires that the speedo must not indicate a speed less t...
Read morehan the vehicle’s true speed or a speed greater than the vehicle’s true speed by an amount of more than 10 per cent plus 4km/h. That is, with the speedo displaying 100km/h the vehicle must be travelling between 87.3km/h and 100km/h. This gives the perception that drivers are travelling faster than what they really are - or exactly at the limit. Now comes the hidden hit in the pocket. As tyres wear we travel slower which increase the error of the speedometer. Your hard earned and expensive warranty is now reduced again by 10% plus as your km based warranty is automatically and secretly shortened. My Googling Speedo errors has shown that Nissan has the 2 worst vehicles tested. I believe that there maybe available a mechanical correction unit available which fits onto the gearbox. not cheap but may add 1500 km to your warranty also you should know what actual speed you are doing. Spoke to the Service Manager (local Nissan) he said the the " D40 had similar issues" and Nissan did nothing. He was not certain if the Speedo and the ODR are coming off the same inputs or if the ODR guage was analogue and would not effect the warranty reading. Follow up: By increasing tyre diameter on the std 16" rim by using a 235/85/R16 tyre (approx $245@) over the factory fitted 205/R16C you will decrease the error margin by 8.16%..... in a nut shell Speedo reading 100kph , actual speed 98 kph :-) 9/2/16 Nissan Aust. was asked if the above tyres were OK for the vehicle.. Reply- 'we recommend the tyres that were on the vehicle'. ( and thats all she said folks!) NB: rotate all 5 tyres regularly to even out the wear, then replace all 5 and you can generally get a discount on buying a full set. Select a tyre compound (type) that is best suited to your general usage.Find out how Nissan Navara NP300 / D23 compares to other Utes

Not impressed yet
My initial impression of my new Navara isn't very good, I've done 2200kms in 10 days, all Highway driving. Firstly, there has been a headlight fault coming up on the dash display from the moment I picked it up, the Nissan steel bullbar and spotlight wiring was done by the dealer, and I was told that the fault would go away when the spotlights were fitted and the circuit completed, this didn't happen and after the dealer checked the car over, they told me that they had to refer the problem back to Nissan.
Driving away from the dealer for the fi...

update:headlight error fixed, turned out to be a bent pin in a connector for the bullbar (thanks to DC Motors for fixing it), other issues still current
update, now have 7500kms and the fuel consumption is getting worse, it's now 10lt/100kms.my last phone call to nissan was interesting, according to Stuart, the ADR figures for fuel consumption are for...
Read more "comparison only", fair enough, comparing it to my last 4 vehicles which all ran under the combined ADR figures for the driving I do,and was then told that I can't compare it to other manufacturers, so not sure what I'm supposed to compare it to, the navara is now 3lts over the claimed figure, I was informed that this was 'within spec' but I have not been able to find any spec sheet on the np300 that says 10lt/100kms is normal. I have now contacted the office of Fair Trading as nissan do not want to deal with the problem.Questions & Answers

An update on my car, after a rather fruitless talk with Nissan Australia, apparently unless you have genuine nissan spotlights fitted, then the headlight error is your problem, also the excessive fuel...
Read more consumption is, apparently, not their problem either, as the quoted fuel consumption figures are done by an independant organisation. (even though nissan use the figures on their website and in their advertising material). To sum up, I SERIOUSLY regret buying the Navara
