Looking at purchasing a 2006 petrol Pathfinder. Is there any dramas with the petrol motor? And any other problems I should know about.

Sorry, can’t answer your question as my pathfinder is not that old and mine is a hybrid. My car is nearly 5 years old and the only problem I have had was when we returned from holidays and my battery was flat, that affected the electronics a bit but it was still drivable and Nissan reset the problem free of charge.

hi anyone had a problem of water gushing out the over flow?? replaced radiator, rad caps and thermostat.. its not really over heating any more but still water gushing out.. thought it was over flow from over filling but had it running for a while and no difference.. could it be water pump?

Yep. Nearly always a cracked head. You can get the coolant tested in your radiator for exhaust gases, they overpressurise the exhaust system. Heaps of stuff on the net about it, especially under D40 Navara or YD25

So my 2008, for some reason its a little bipolar with motor temperature. It randomly likes to get hot and dump antifreeze out the top of the overflow res. Replaced thermostat, new caps on the radiator and overflow res, flushed system. Anyone encounter this issue?

Yes. Unfortunately it's the symptoms of a cracked head, they are famous for it.
You can get your fluid sampled in your rad to confirm. A head is about $1300 plus labpr if that's your only issue but they can crack cylinders too.
You could try a liquid head repair then drain aftet a month and replace with evans waterless coolant to reduce system pressure then drive it til it goes bang. Search d40 yd25 issues.

Thanks for the info, I actually had the head replaced the first time I had this issue. I couldn’t imagine that would be the cause again right? Had the liquids tested and they’re good. I’m at a loss at this point unless there might be something else?

It would be From the A/C

Had the same issue but fixed it. It is likely an A/C issue where the water from the condenser doesn't quite go out the tube that you can see in the engine bay. I had to add another inch of tubing so the water did not run back into the passenger foot well. Easy fix.

I'm after info on the number of teeth on the input shaft of my R51 Nissan Pathfinder (MY2008). I'm led to believe it's either 24 teeth or 30 teeth, but not sure which one...

I'm looking at implanting an LS3 V8 with 4 speed Automatic transmission and my supplier of adaptor components needs to know which adaptor kit to send me to adapt the the 460LE automatic that comes with the LS3 to my Pathfinder 4WD Transfer Case (either24 tooth or 30 tooth input shaft).

Please help?

I purchased a2006 Off Road edition Pathfinder in fall of 2017. Mirage was approx 150 000. I have had a few issues with it. Fuel pump went out, bushings are all worn, tensioner pulley is wobbling, paint is so so, runs great when it is running but now i've replaced front brakes and still have strange clicky squeal going on pretty loud. DVD entertainment sys works great, no broken door handles yet, fuel economy is around 16/17 mpg- it's a heavy vehicle, when I step on the bad- from a stop it sounds like a surge of power and air going through making it sound like a PC of big industrial equip, live the stereo and the seats are comfy! My passengers that I Uber often comment on how much they like it's looks and the roominess inside ( it can seat 8 max including driver but only 7 seat belts. I'm in love with it but am worried about it lasting very long unless I dump a bunch of money into it! Some say that Nissan uses quality parts and makes good vehicles , this is my first Nissan so guess i'll have to wait and see! Had a Mitsubishi Montero 4x4, loved it although quite a bit smaller, but it lasted 7 years second hand and motor ran great at 300,000 mi. when I retired it. The fuel pump went out for 3rd time for using aftermarket ones that were so much cheaper than OEM pump.

I have a r51 2.5 diesel 2008 that blew the headgasket at 138000km on our way to Flinder ranges.Took it to Adelaide. Had it fixed by replacing the cilynderhead with a new one. It runs better than ever.Took $3500 out of the wallet and that was including labor, check on turbo and new gaskets all around. Great job done by Matthew's Workshop in Cavan

I purchased a R51 2005 a week later the head and cylinder 2 went. Do yourself a favor and don't Flog It Off to somebody else cause otherwise they going to go through heartache getting it fixed like I did. I got my motor completely refurbished and it cost me 5 and a half grand. The previous owner a week before I purchased it replace the radiator and put Chemiweld right through it unbeknownst to me and that caused the snowballing effect throughout the whole motor

How do you undo front seat back flaps from under the seat to fit seat covers?

If you've got the same model as I have in my review you shouldn't be using seat covers at all as the will restrict your seat wrap around airbags in an accident.

Nissan Pathfinder R51 (RH drive) with rear passenger door stuck shut. Outside lever/handle is "floppy" (ie, not actuating anything) & interior lever appears to have tension etc but won't open door. I have removed the 2 Phillips head screws underneath interior handle trim & electric window trim but it appears impossible to remove interior door panel with the door shut even though I made up some levers to try & assist - what's next?

The child lock button will probably be on. Look at the other rear door when it's open to see exactly where the child lock is, then slide a credit card in the jammed one and flick the child lock open. It'll then open from the inside and you can change the handle easily. I've changed a few on mine, they're notorious for breaking.

Thanks James - you were quite right but unfortunately I'd not thought of that because it had been inadvertently activated at some stage prior & have already been to the dealer to replace the handle - thanks anyway! :)

Hi Guys, I have recently purchased a 2007 pathfinder Ti 4.0ltr unleaded auto (love it) but it is very thirsty 17ltr/100km, I drive it very conservatively to try and reduced it from (18ltr down to 16.7ltr since i first got it) but I still think it's to high any suggestions on how to reduce it more?

Also I have only one key and have priced another one at over $500 (has to be genuine nissan according to the locksmith and the computer program that dose the central locking) but have found a cheaper one on ebay that will save me $300.
Has anyone done this? (they say genuine nissan keys but I'm not sure I can trust them) no warranty if it doesn't
work.

thanks for all your help (in advance)

I purchased a genuine Nissan key for my 2005 Pathfinder off Ebay, but I was able to visit the seller's home to have it cut and programmed. $220 all up compared to a quote of $388 for a key and $100 for programming from a Sydney Nissan Dealer. Here's a tip, the guy cutting the key said the R51 Pathfinder ignition key barrel and the key have a tendency to wear. He pointed out the slight tapering wear on my original key. He cut the new key to match. If this isn't done, the new key would increase the rate of wear in the barrel.

On my Nissan is located on the passenger side, between the front and rear doors, at the bottom of the vehicle body. You must open the front door to see it.

Hi just wondering if anyone had had any issues with the rear doors central locking? For some reason my back doors won't unlock but they lock and every other door including the boot and fuel door all lock and unlock fine.

When you say rear doors won't unlock via central lock/unlock... do you mean they remain locked when arrempting to OPEN the doors from the inside or from the outside of car?

Staceym91
Staceym91

From the outside. I have to open the front doors and reach through and pull open the back doors which is a pain with a newborn child and a 5 year old especially in the rain

I think it has something to do with how your key fob is programmed. Believe that it can be set up to unlock all or just front doors. Your owners manual will give instructions.
