Mine almost made 10 years

I came here only to praise the great workmanship and quality. Mine only died today. About 5 months shy of the 10 year mark. It was brought out every summer and every heatwave and run 24 hours. I worked it's butt off. I broke the water outlet cap. Removalists dropped it and dented it. And it still kept plodding along cooling a large lounge room and bedroom. It took us through the latest heatwave at 38 degrees alongside a split system, but I think that was the heatwave that broke it. I want to go buy another one. Can't praise it enough. Show details

Good small unit

Good unit, does the work during those hot days without spending a lot. Has timer option which is really helpful to save surprises from huge electricity bills. Sound is a big negative side of this unit. Once you get use to then the unit is awesome. I have been using it for over 2 years.

Best portable aircon for the money!

This is the "big brother" to oapc1413w, which I have also reviewed. Simply put, this is a more powerful unit for a larger bedroom. It can get the room down to refrigeration level in as little as 10 minutes, that's pretty spectacular for a portable unit! If you rent, and are unable to cut a hole in the wall to install a split system, then this is the unit for you. I am very happy with this aircon and Omega Altise as company.

How does the humidifier work? I can't find a reservoir for water collected.

Does this unit require you to drain the condensate from a tank in cooling mode; or does it avoid this by (1) passing the condensate over the hot coils to evaporate the condensate (i.e. self-evaporative unit); or (2) spraying the condensate as a mist out of the exhaust pipe (MIST design)?

I'm not quite sure what either are in relation to this unit. It does require a drain hose into a bucket or out through the floor to remove the water that condenses from the unit. Hope this helps!

That is the answer that I needed. More and more units now evaporate or spray out the consensate, so that no drain hose and bucket are needed. However, this is only in cooling mode.
