Oppo for blu-ray perfection.
If you are really serious about watching movies,(especially blu-ray),then look no further than the Oppo BDP-103AU,or D,(Darbee) model. It has won more worldwide awards than all other blu-ray players combined, and for good reason. Solid as a rock, and therefore extremely stable, this player was undoubtedly one of the best investments that I have made, with both sound and picture showing what can be done if a top end blu-ray manufacturer pushes hard for the best available. Sure,it's not cheap, but this is a classic example of the old maxim,"you get what you pay for",and this is well worth every cent. Certainly worth going the extra mile to ensure region-free blu-ray,with an on-line service available in Australia for around $75.00.
Oppo BDP-103 blu-ray player
I have recently purchased an Oppo BDP-103AU blu-ray player. All the blu-ray player models from Samsung, Sony, LG & Panasonic can no longer be connected to a Hi-Fi system since all they provide is a HDMI output, and some models a coaxial digital output. The Oppo has two HDMI outputs, one HDMI input, coaxial digital output, 7.1CH / 5.1CH / Stereo Analogue Audio Outputs, and many others.
I do not know what is inside all the models from Samsung, Sony, LG and Panasonic but I would suggest lifting one-up before purchase. You will be surprised - they weigh nothing. Compare these to the Oppo - 5kg.
If you are serious about a quality blu-ray player that looks and feels like a 'Rolls Royce' compared to the mass manufactured rubbish that the major retailers sell, and produces video and audio of exceptional quality, then look no further than the Oppo BDP-103AU.
I purchased the Oppo BDP-103AU with region free DVD capabilities for $740 from Sturmans in Wollongong
Note: I made the mistake of purchasing a Panasonic BTD370 from JB Hi-Fi prior to the Oppo. It lasted a week before I had to return the player.
