Forced to take glasses with frames I did not order.
I had to get a new pair of reading glasses, so did the test and then chose my frame.
When I go back to pick up the girl gets this frame out and I say no that is not what I picked she says they are now I know I am not stupid these had a pearl on each side of the frame and I would not choose anything with pears as I don't like pearls. So she goes and tells this guy think he is the manager and he says yes these are the frame you ordered I said no they are not anyway I had no choice but to take them home and I do not like them one bit but my bitch is that they forced me into taking glasses I never ordered and so I have never gone back, so they have lost a customer.
Usually I find OPSM fine but after going in today to have a check up and get my glasses adjusted, for the second time they have used heat which caused my expensive lenses to become cracked. I didn't notice until I arrived home as I was wearing contacts in store. Last time they paid for replacement lenses which takes weeks. I'm hoping when I go back tomorrow they do the same. They can't claim ignorance as they knew what kind of lenses I wore. Wish they would teach their technicians about lenses that cannot be heated.
I will never go back again!
Visited the Glen Waverley OPSM store today because I was desperate. Did an eye test for soft contact lenses, but I thought I might look at getting glasses too. The experience till then was great then I was referred to the salesperson to help me choose my frames and put together prescription glasses. Once we had the frames and the salesperson tallied up the total cost and it comes to $426 with discount. Whatever is this discount?! I think it's there to make you overlook the exaggerated prices. There was no discussion on the part of the salespers...on whether I'd be happy to pay the price. I felt pressured into taking out my credit card immediately. I wasn't given a quote or summary. I didn't know how much to expect. There are much cheaper and better options out there. Plus reading the reviews on OPSM there is a lot of negative not much positive. Why didn't I do the research beforehand?! Not happy with my first visit and I'm not going there again given there are so much competition in the market. Emotions that summed up this visit: unhappy, feeling ripped off, nauseated. If you do decide to visit OPSM make sure you make it clear that you’re just looking for a quote if you’re not prepared to pay whatever price they lay out on the table. There was no discussion of the type of glasses I needed or which one was better suited to my situation. There was no explanation of the different lenses available and what each costs. The service was terrible. Also the optometrist confessed to me that she has never fitted hard lenses before when I inquired about it. She seemed a little panicked that I would go into territory she wasn’t familiar with. She was young and she didn’t seem to understand my situation but rather push her point across. What a poor experience. Lesson learnt and hopefully this will be helpful for someone else as well.
Generally good experience at Morley store
Visited the Morley store to have eyes checked. Great Optometrist and not at all pushy sales staff. Only negative is the Assistant Store Manager, who on a few occasions I've had to deal with her, hasn't been the most pleasant and appears she doesn't really want to help customers. Not sure why people are working in an industry like this if they really don't want to be there. So therefore I'm only giving the store 3 stars but everything else great.
Excellent Optometrist, not pushy like Specsavers
I decided to get my glasses done here and when I got my glasses back the first time, I felt something was wrong. The next day I decided to take them back and came to realize that they had the lenses wrong. The store manager had to check that in fact the lady who ordered them for me got it all wrong. So after several trips I finally got them back. The lady had them adjusted and everything. After 30 mins the screws were lose and it wasn't adjusted properly. I decided to go back to the store and ask a different person to do them and he got them pe...rfect. My complain is that there is only one professional staff there and the rest have no idea what they are doing. And they keep telling me to take a bloody seat and they think that I'm happy to do that. I had to sit there for 30 mins because I was in their imaginary line. Very bad training, clueless staff and never again am I going to get my glasses done here again. No QAQC whatsoever just order and give to the customer. Completely useless. They just can't get it right.
OPSM The Gap, once your being served the service is great but the problem is getting served they have one person only to serve you, and if they are serving someone in front of you be prepared to wait, and depending on the requirement of the person in front of you be prepared to wait 10 minutes or so, as I have discovered the couple of times that I have visited, it is a small shop and I do understand they do not want to maybe hire another staff member so as to save on costs but, because of the nature of the business it takes time to serve each p...erson so at the expense to the customer be prepared to wait. its a shame in some ways that you either support your local business or go to larger store and be served straight away I guess the choice is ours !!!!
Poor quality product and after sales service.
I purchased a pair of R & B brand frames with multifocal lenses from my local branch of OPSM early August 2012. The total cost of the glasses was AU$663.00 (these were non designer, plastic frames). In the intervening time between buying the glasses and now, I have had to go back to OPSM twice, each time the problem has been that either a screw has dropped out where the front side of the frame is held together. When this happened the first time I mentioned to the sale assistant that I was surprised that the screws had been put into the glas...ses from the underneath (screw head facing the ground as it were) as one would think this was against the laws of gravity! The sales assistant said this was a common placement method and replaced the screw adding a washer to the underneath to prevent the screw coming out again. Unfortunately within a couple of months the other side of the front frame came loose and the whole lense dropped out onto the floor. I took the glasses back again and spoke to the same assistant explaining what had happened, her reaction was very defensive, however she did take the glasses away and inserted yet another new screw, again adding a washer to keep the frame together. I thanked her for doing this, but also said I was very disappointed with the quality of the glasses considering the price I had paid for them and the short time I'd had them, at the same time stressing that I realised it was not her fault personally. The sales assistant's response was to say that I would have had to pay that anywhere else and that the glasses were fixed now! I quickly pointed out that I had recently purchased two pairs of good quality glasses from Specsavers for the same price as I paid for one pair from OPSM. Her reaction was to repeat that the glasses had been fixed and she virtually backed me out of the store. All the time this exchange was taking place, the store manager was no more than a few steps away at the rear of the store. He must have heard our conversation, but at no time did he attempt to intervene and defuse the situation by apologising for the obviously poor quality of what I now deem to be an expensive pair of glasses when compared with the price of similar glasses from other suppliers. I have worn glasses for many years now and this is the first time I have had so much trouble with a pair and received such a poor standard of service. Now that I have experienced the excellent service and products at Specsavers, I won't be buying from OPSM again. Poor after sales service and attitude, expensive and shoddy product.
Shouldn't have gone to OPSM
I purchased glasses in September 2012. I had worn them only occasionally and used only for reading, not for the sport. The other day one lenses has popped out, landed on concrete and got a few scratches. I ended up going to the store believing that OPSM will bare the cost of repair as they are still under 1 year warranty. It was obvious that badly fitted lens resulted in lens falling apart. There was no impact on the glasses as staff from OPS suggested. OPSM did not consider the lens fall out of frame as their job done badly done. They have ar...gued that they did not know how the lens came out, and put the blame on me for not taking care of glasses, as this is the first time I have seen glasses in my life. I ended paying for the new lens but at another optometrist at my cost. Also note that they charge double price of what other optometrist charges for the same tape of lens. Staff did not explain in full the difference in type of lenses to be used in the first place. A very bad services for this size of this company. Would never go back there and either recommend it to anyone.
Lack of care
I had an eye test approximately 2 weeks ago. The actual test was very thorough, however I believe the optometrist advised me wrongly. When I paid for the glasses, the person assisting had no idea what she was doing. After some considerable time, I was to find out that I couldn't be covered for tinted lenses, even though she suggested I get them, so I have no idea why we went through so much rigmarole to get tinted glasses. She also suggested in future I shop around to find out what my private health will cover and what the shop will pay out...on. When I went to pick the glasses up, no one even bothered to check that they were the correct fit, and in fact they don't fit well. Will never got back to them again. lengthy consultation Not informed as well as I should have been
Bad Customer Service
I have ordered from OPSM direct a few times, and had always found it okay until recently when they sent me the wrong prescription (double the lenses for my right eye and none for my left...) and I had to deal with customer service to arrange a exchange or return. I emailed them, and they made it very difficult; they replied to me as if they hadn't even bothered to read my emails properly, and then stopped replying all together. I have now given up on OPSM and ordered contact lenses from 'clearly contacts' instead, they are much better (cheaper, faster delivery, helpful service), and I will continue to order from 'clearly contacts' in the future.
bad customer service
Reliable, fast delivery
After going into the OPSM store and baulking at the cost of the contacts the optometrist had recommended I went to their online store and found mine were only $57 ($75 in store). Ordered them, claimed them back on health insurance. Easy.
Reliable, fast delivery, able to claim on health insurance
A little more expensive than other online contact shops. But will pay for the reliability.
Great place to purchase lenses online
I have been purchasing contact lenses from OPSM direct for the past 6 months and overall experiences with them have been quite positive. Great customer service and almost half the price compared to OPSM stores. Couple of days ago my ordered lenses were lost by express post in delivery, they then sent me a replacement order free of charge through courier. The lenses are not as great quality as those ordered in store though, but wouldn't worry about it too much given the already huge discounts on price.
price, customer service
