More variety needed
I have been getting my glasses from Opsm Highpoint for years. I find the staff there to be exceptionally great to deal with. However, the last year or so I found it hard to pick a pair of glasses. There’s just limited variety. I don’t know if it’s a market thing but perhaps Opsm should source out different eye glass designs/designers to add some pizzazz to what they’re offering.
I have kerakatonus, a condition with limited treatments available. My usual optometrist was not interested in trying to get a result instead he kept pushing me for surgery or equally uncomfortable rigid contact lenses. The new optometrist at OPSM spent nearly an hour attempting to correct my vision using glasses. We eventually got there. I went from not being able to see the solitary E on the chart to reading the 5th frame with small letters.
A was a little disappointed that the frames on the display for $99 weren't actually on the list of frames for $99, bjt at least I can see

Service let down by pricing model
So in response to a reminder I made an appointment... 9am. Finally they arrived at 9.15am. For me that is plain disrespectful. It was the 1st appointment of the day! So we started on the wrong foot to begin with. The regular check concluded that my glasses needed to be fine tuned by replacing the existing with a stronger lens. Ok. I organise this with a friendly staff member. Same guy who had helped me when I first got my glasses. When it came to the price they had the nerve to charge me an extra $30 because I was using my existing frame and i...nserting new lens into these! 1.Why would I buy a new frame if all I needed was new lenses? (Like charging me extra for using my existing car when I need new tires.) 2.The frame was originally bought at OPSM!!! So they are literally punishing me for opting to continue using my frame bought at OPSM - this is a sheer money grab. Every time I need to change the glass lenses OPSM will charge me $30 extra unless I buy a new frame (which of course costs more). 3. Lets see if they give me my old lenses or decide to keep them. After all, they are my property. Time to try out the competition I think because this is leafing a nasty after taste.
Excellent service - OPSM Chatswood
Excellent service from a young man named Jim. He quickly and happily fixed my husband’s favourite sunnies (others had told me it was unfixable). I decided then and there to buy my next pair of sunnies from him because he was so pleasant to deal with
Not happy with OPSM “payment policy”
Was really happy with the optometrist and her communication and concern during my eye test.
Purchased a pair of prescription sunglasses as OPSM had a really good sale on (50% off lenses) which really enticed me to come in . As the shop assistant was processing my order, she advised me that I either had to pay 50% of the total cost or if they process my health fund rebate I had to pay the out of pocket amount in full.
I questioned this as in the past I have only ever had my health fund rebate applied and either left a deposit or not pa...id until I picked my glasses up. I was not happy, I was told it is the OPSM policy that I am required to either pay 50% of the total cost or had to fully pay the out of d pocket expense. I have been purchasing prescription glasses for myself and my family for over 25 years this is the first time I have ever had to pay in full for my glasses despite not taking them away with me. I am really upset and angry that I was required to fully pay for goods that I was not able to take away with me on the day. There isn't many places that you are made to fully pay for goods before officially receiving them. I think this is really bad form OPSM and I know that this will be the last time that I purchase from OPSM. I will be in the future going to another Optometrist that does not have such a stupid policy.
OPSM Bourke Street Melbourne - FANTASTIC !! 11/10
Giovanni was fantastic. I had been asked if I needed assistance by another team member, thanked them and said I would look around. I tried on a number of pairs of glasses, and Giovanni came over with a pair and said try these and they were perfect. He was friendly, professional with a great sense of humour and did everything he could to help me. My glasses were ready within a few days and when I went to collect them, he changed the frame (same style) because he wasn't 100% happy with them. Thank you. A HUGE PAT ON THE BACK for you and your team :-)
Thorough test but was spoilt by unprofessional use of a smart phone with a damaged face to take and show photos.
I have been buying from OPSM Garden City every year for over twenty years and while the staff have changed, the professional service has not. It seems from the reviews that the culture of the store depends on their management at the different locations. Over the years the only problem has been with some rare design weaknesses but even then, OPSM Garden City have always repaired or replaced promptly. The old clear view tints that delaminated after two years was the only exception. The lenses from OPSM have always been great and the frames very s...tylish and one of the reasons that OPSM won out against the many competitors at the Garden City retail centre. Feel confident dealing with caring staff who make glasses selection a simple process. Robert
Wendouree store has incredible customer service
Went to get my eyes checked this morning and the service at wendouree was amazing. They were under staffed but that didn't hinder there positive attitudes and focus on their customers. Super friendly, personable and amazing service. Worth paying a little more then other places for my glasses as the store manager and optometrist were outstanding - I didn't want to leave!
First class service. Very impressive!
We've tried a number of optometrists and spectacle sellers, but after hubby had eye surgery his specialist advised us to go to OPSM, saying their lens-makers are better technicians than those used by other suppliers. Well, the first pair of glasses he got disappointed, but within days of him collecting they phoned to ask if all was well. When he said 'no' they asked him to come back in as soon as possible. New lenses were fitted to his frames a few days later and they were perfect. He's delighted. No charge for the correction (unlike the last o...ptometrist who stuffed up my $680 glasses and charged $200 to fix HIS mistake!) Best of all, these glasses were the cheapest he's ever had. Very thorough consultation, but the examiner was honest enough to NOT charge Medicare for tests that weren't needed after recent eye surgery. Forget SpecSavers! OPSM is the ONLY place we'll go for spectacles in future.
Amazing service and staff at Waurn Ponds
I had my eyes tested recently and advised i needed glasses. throughout the whole process from my eyes being tested to helping me choose my frames and ordering them the staff were amazing and so helpful. I went into the store after about a month of having my glasses and asked for a price on the same ones just not with the blue tint as it was something i realized wasn't for me after i got the glasses. The staff first offered to replace the lenses in the frames i had to save me the price of a new set and then Nicole spoke with her manager and said she could swap them under warranty. This store always has the most amazing staff who go above and beyond to help. I will always be returning for the helpful staff.
Very helpful and friendly. Helped me with my sunnies when the screw fell out. No charge ! Excellent I bought the glasses from another OPSM in brisbane.
They get the script right but at a cost.
I have no question that the eye test was professional and accurate
other places bulk Bill for just as good result. They were expensive compared to to similar businesses.
Worst experience was that they broke my new sunglasses while cleaning them (they offered) and then basically said bad luck! (I had no receipt as they were a gift) I doubt we will return.
High quality frames, genuine assistance.
I agree with one of the other recent 5 star reviews noting that the majority of bad reviews are gripes with the price. People, you pay for what you get. Luckily, in Australia we have a nice array of optical stores that differ in price and quality and for those that take the time to look around and research their options to establish a realistic expectation, purchasing and selecting glasses is always a pleasant and streamlined experience.
My husband and I recently purchased sunglasses and optical specs from OPSM in the Garden City Westfield s...hopping centre and were very happy with the genuine care shown by every member of the team we have encountered so far. From the optometrist to Stephan, the South African gentleman that helped us purchase and went out of his way to give us a great deal on all four of our glasses, saving us a little over $400. Previously we have purchased from Specsavers and the difference in quality is supremely evident. Not that Specsavers glasses are bad, but as I said, you get what you pay for and the two optical stores are in two leagues of their own, and cannot be compared. So in summary, we had an idea of the cost, we spent time selecting our frames and made sure to get Stephan’s (Optician) valued opinion, and we are both thrilled with the outcome.
Unfortunately, I have to post a negative review. My initial excitement of purchasing my prescription glasses has substantially waned. I purchased my glasses in February this year, with the excitement of having the blue-light filter and lightweight Ray Bans (through my health fund).
However, I am became weary as my eyes started to fatigue (compared with my previous prescription). Alas, the reason has been found out upon visiting an independent optometrist (who had previously tested my eyes). OPSM has given me the wrong script!
With the ...total purchase $500+, you can imagine my disappointment and dismay, having to fork out another $500+, to have this issue rectified. Needless to say, this is my second incorrect prescription with OPSM, and I will not be coming back. Avoid. EDIT: I have since spoken with Orom from OPSM who was absolutely fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful in dealing with the error. He was quick to respond and provide the correct presciption, and has updated my prescription to the correct one.
Never had a problem
Always had great service and speedy delivery on orders. Not sure why the rating is so low. My local OPSM has been checking my eyes and selling me contacts and glasses for 20 years. Friendly helpful staff every time I'm in there
Damaged my glasses and have yet to fix it...
Needed a new pair of glasses and I chose my local OPSM (Mt Ommaney). Brilliant eye test which was comprehensive and accurate, and the dispensers in-store were fantastic and helpful during time of purchase. All good up to this point, however this is where the problems started.
My glasses took longer than usual to arrive as it was holiday season which was reasonable, however the frames were hurting my temples, ears and nose so after a few days of wear I went into store to adjust them. The dispenser who adjusted them did such a poor job she dam...aged the frames (causing the paint to peel off the temples) and I resulted to wearing back my old frames. After contacting the store manager a new frame was arranged and a different dispenser adjusted them brilliantly, however she scratched one of the lenses while popping them into the new frames (one shallow scratch, one deep scratch) which I noticed when I arrived home. I contacted customer service immediately and requested a refund to be processed for the damaged lens as at that point I went into the store numerous times which required me to leave work early and spent countless hours in-store for minor issues caused by staff and I was not able or willing to dedicate any more time to go in-store especially for that reason. A a couple of weeks later the regional manager contacted me asking me to return to store (a 4th time at this point) for replacement lens and mentioned they would not be able to offer a refund as they would prefer to make sure I had damage-free glasses - which is understandable, however after replying to her email agreeing to her offer I received an automated email advising she will be on annual leave returning April and the contact details of another manager in the email were incorrect. I have tried numerous times to email her back after April and received no response since. I have had to contact the ombudsman as my initial contact with OPSM had started in mid-January and has not yet been resolved due to lack of communication. I have only just discovered thanks to the involvement of the ombudsman that the manager who I had originally been in contact with no longer work at OPSM, and I'm perplexed as to why no one had the wits to follow up from my email correspondence with her to see this to full resolution. I am still waiting to be contacted by another manager after my details have been provided by the ombudsman to arrange a replacement lens and as the store near me is currently being re-fitted I will have to wait at least another 3 weeks before this issue is resolved, making it almost 7 months after the original inquiry was made.
The team at OPSM Pacific Fair of Louis the manager, Trish and Trent are wonderful. Trish will always happily adjust my multi focal Chanel frames which tend to be very light and need adjusting frequently to fit perfectly. Louis gave me excellent service when I purchased my new frames and Trent is always there to assist too. Had been rather disappointed in OPSM lately being a long time customer but they renewed my faith in the brand. Would thoroughly recommend them.
OPSM Springwood Queensland
I have nothing to say but great thing about OPSM in Springwood Queensland, Steven the Optometrist was amazing and spent so much time getting things right for me, nothing was too much trouble, all the sales staff were helpful every time I visited the store
Wonderful service, great products and good value! I bought prescription sunglasses too which are great. I will definitely return, faultless
Good product but bad customer service
I’m regular customer in opsm airport west. All my family purchased the glasses from this place. They rude n not friendly at all... dun feel like buy from there anymore.
Went to OPSM in DEER PARK, go here all the time but I won't be returning. How can you justifiy $320.00 dollar's for len's for my glasses. So disappointed, the eye test was good but then he wanted me to buy bifocal's which cost $700.00 dollar's. Maybe they could have a cheaper section for people who are on low income. Very angry when I wanted to cancel and I can't.

Instore 5 stars, online 1 star
I’ve been an OPSM customer since 1991. I find that the staff in store, at every store in the Brisbane area (especially Indooroopilly and Stafford) are fantastic. I often wonder how OPSM consistently finds such great staff. I’ve also seen optometrists at OPSM for about 15 years - usually the one, but occasionally others in emergencies (eg lost contact lenses that might still be in my eyes) - and they are marvellous too. I’d never go anywhere else.
OPSM online, however, is a disaster area, which is such a shame. Orders get delayed while you are ...
I had an appointment for an eye test today. All staff were polite, attentive and professional. The young man who assisted me in choosing frames for two pairs of spectacles; processed my order, and finalised the sale was extremely patient and well-mannered.
Response from OPSM at Chadstone
My wife and I have been buying OPSM glasses for more than 50 years, right from my first pair when I was 16 years old.
Two days agoI took two pairs of glasses to OPSM Chadstone to see if they could fix them for free, because I'm a pensioner and now struggling financially. They said "No, because the glasses are out of warranty. It will cost $80 to send them away for repair".
They responded quickly to my post here and they fixed two pairs for free. They're just like new! Thank you, OPSM.
