Very poor quality
Decided to try Oscar Wylee early this year instead of Spec Savers. Very Disappointed in the quality of the frames. My frames are coming apart after a couple of months of purchase. Service in some stores is terrible as well. Next year back to spec savers.

I am a full time carer. Making any sort of an appointment is very challenging for me as I need to rely on someone to take over while I’m away.
I booked an appointment for 16:40 at the Epping store in Victoria. I live in a rural town a 35 minute drive via the High Way from Epping.
I left home at 15:50 only to find roadworks at the halfway point. ‘Delays of 15 mins expected’......Nothing I could do but sit there. I arrived at the Epping store at 16:45 ........5 minutes late! I was told I would need to reschedule as the optometrist was leaving at...
Cheaply made, won't fix.
I bought two pairs of glasses from Oscar Wylee in October 2019.
First off, they feel really cheap and flimsy, so of course one pair (Aries) broke in the middle of the nose only after a few months of daily use, so I went back to the store and asked if they could replace, fix or recycle them but they said nope.
So now I'm on second pair (Tamara), which is starting to get green tarnishing between the metal and plastic, they also feel like they're going to break when I clean them.
While I like the look of the frames they sell, I won't be buying from them again.

i have ordered 2 glasses from Oscar Wylee few months ago, always been meaning to give a review but was too lazy. i have power of -4.5, as you know it is very high so i usually thin the lens. i ordered 2 glasses, one regular with thinning , one pair of sunglasses without thinning. I usually take my glasses from specsaver, their thinning and lens quality is decent but this time I wanted to order from oscar wylee.
I went...to Chatswood Chase one, seen doctor, ordered my glasses (total cost $379 with discounts and after adding thinning with $150, refer to receipt attached). Upon returning home 10 minutes later on the same day, mind it ONLY 10 minutes later, i called them and wanted to add the anti resistive glasses which cost additional $10, they were not helpful and said the order were processed already although it will take 2 weeks and more but it is unchangeable. Customer service definitely not very impressive there. Not very happy i was still okay with it. but
Buyer beware, staff aren’t trained!
I went to Oscar Wylee in Midland for their 2 pairs for $199 deal. With my prescription I was expecting additional costs, but I was not prepared for the absolute disaster that was this experience. And I still don’t have any glasses.
I was recommended a certain level of grinding because “it was only up to 10% less than the highest grade”. I trusted the sales staff... big mistake. Went back two weeks later to receive ridiculously thick glasses. The lenses were so thick they sat on my cheeks so the bridge of the glasses was barely touching my nose...
Very snooty staff.
I hadn't even entered the store yet (and it was my first encounter with any Oscar Wylee store) and the blonde chick manning the door totally gave me attitude. This was during the height of the pandemic so there was a limit on the number of customers in the store. This was not the problem and nor was my having to wait. It was just her b*tchy and snooty vibe that totally put me off from wanting to deal with or purchase anything from them ever again. Do they want customers or not? Because that kind of behaviour would put anyone off. This was the Pitt Street store. Avoid.
Cheap Feel and Poor Quality
I am new to spectacles and have found the whole experience quite stressful, for various reasons. I purchased my first pair, bifocal, from Bailey Nelson. The glasses are extremely comfortable and the case is lovely however I wanted different colours and they didn't have any that day.
So, I went to Oscar Wylee. With a cool name I thought they might be similar Bailey Nelson. Absolutely not!
I allowed myself to get roped into buying two for $200. As I said, this experience is stressful for me so my daughter came with me and for a couple of hours...I tried them all on. Exhausted by the process I chose two; tortoise shell and red. They weren't like my first pair but they were different colours. What an absolute disappointment this experience has been. What I was given was not what I tried on. The tortise arms were lopped sided and there was some design missing on the front. The red arms were not gently slanting downward as I had tried on, they were higher and cut off sharp in a L shape. I could not believe what I was seeing and feeling. After quite a while of reheating my red glasses to soften and re-shape them I had to leave the store. But not before the staff offered me the store display ones as a replacement (no discount) and offered me some from 'out the back' whose arms were lop sided and didn't touch the bench. The optometrist had the audacity to tell me that the ones I tried on were soft because lots of people had tried them on. They were a different shape! And I showed all the staff the differences with the two glasses - they were both irregular!
Nice frames, faulty lenses
I paid extra to get my lenses ground thin as I have a high prescription. I also paid for the blue light protection and the anti-glare coating. It’s the anti glare coating that is the problem. In one lens it almost immediately had a fault and was replaced within a week as it was within warranty, however over the past three years both coatings of the lenses have degraded.
This is beyond expected wear and tear. This is actually a faulty product and they shouldn’t sell it because the degradation makes the lenses useless. I thought I could live wit...h it but it just keeps getting worse. Customer service offered 25% off on replacement lenses but I wouldn’t need to replace the lenses at all if the anti-glare coating was not faulty. I have been wearing glasses for 28 years and I have never had this experience before. My prescription hasn’t changed in ten years and I should need to replace these yet, but I have to as the degradation caused to the lenses is so bad it’s blurring my vision like I have cataracts. Glasses are not a luxury item they are a necessity and it reflects poorly on them that they are selling a product which is 100% faulty and refusing to replace it. The photos below show the light reflecting off areas where the anti glare coating has been degraded.
Good customer service - poor quality lenses.
The customer service was good but the eye test seemed to go very fast compared to tests I’ve had in the past.
My prescription was a mix of short/ long distance which I’ve been getting for the last 20 years and never had any issues with.
When trying on the glasses from Oscar Wylee I was able to see out of the top third of the lens, the middle section was completely blurry and the bottom third was painful to look through, making the glasses impossible to use. After a few minutes of use were so pain...
Went to book an appointment for eye check and specs, left without appointment
I and my wife went to Oscar Wylee store, Hornsby on Friday, 29/01/21 to book an appointment for eye check up and to get specs as we had purchased our previous sets of specs from the same store last year. But before I booked the appointment I wanted to get both the pairs from last year adjusted.
There was only one girl at the counter in the store and no other customers throughout the duration while I was in the store, so no customer pressure. She fixed one pair of specs without any fuss, but for the second pair, she rudely told me to wear the...se properly. I have been wearing multifocals for more than 10 years now. When I mentioned this, she stormed off inside their office at the back of the store leaving me standing in the store alone. After waiting for 2 - 3 minutes, I left the store in disbelief without booking an appointment. Subseuently we have purchased the specs for both of us from a competitor. After such experience, we will not visit this store again nor will we recommend this store to anyone.
Unprofessional! Part way through test & advised me optometrist needed to leave on time & wanted to rebook second half
Unbelievably unprofessional. Steer clear of chermside store. They cancelled and tried to rebook my appt part way through the consult so the optometrist wouldn’t be late to leave.
Poor quality lenses - don’t buy from them
I bought new glasses and lenses from Oscar Wylee in Indrooroopilly/ Brisbane 1 year and 3 months ago. The coating on the lenses peeling off within a year. I have been wearing glasses for more than 20 years and this has never happened to me before with any of the other optical stores that I have been using. This is the first time that I bought new glasses and lenses from Oscar Wylee. When I asked the manager why this is happening, I was given no answer. However, she told me that Oscar Wylee only guarantee for 1 year and that there is nothing that she can do for me. Very disappointing! Lenses should last many years and not just 1 year and 3 months. No wonder Oscar Wylee only guarantees for one year with such poor quality products.
Poor customer service
This is my 3rd time to visit their shop in Highpoint shopping centre. Even i come early still ive waited for more than 10 mins from my scheduled appointment. They cancelled my Sunday sched coz the optometrist is nt coming but when i call them that ill be late by 5 mins and went to their shop i wasnt accomodated becoz thats their rule. Huh but they kept their customers waiting. The lady who assisted me last time to pick up the type of my lens was rude. Very inconsiderate. Will never come back & not recommend to my fam & friends.
Moonee Ponds Store Discriminate
Optometrist would not complete my appointment unless I had an exemption in writing for not wearing a face mask. Very poor customer service and I would not recommend to others if you want to be treated like a human being.
Poor customer experience at Westfield Doncaster
The store at Westfield Doncaster was totally unobliging when I was running less than three minutes late due to the traffic lights at their centre. When I tried to explain they completely dismissed my reason and said I would need to book another time. The store is run with complete inflexibility towards customers and they are all about the bottom line. pushing through customers every 20 minutes like a production line. I am glad I have taken my business elsewhere as, from reading the reviews below, it sounds like the product isn’t that great either.

do you guarantee glasses from scratches and if so for how long
Hi Carlos, I believe all the glasses in Oscar Wylee comes with scratch-resistant coating. I am not sure how long the coating will last for but I received my glasses in June and I wear it daily. Up till now, there have been no scratches yet. (p.s I am pretty careless when it comes to my glasses) Hope this helps!
You would be best to ring Oscar Wylee and ask them about the coating etc available.
Did you have problems with the prescription?
I have been using my new glasses for a week and I feel that my sight got worse with them and my headache as well, I feel that I see things more blurry and I get tired easily... Now reading all the bad reviews I am scared about having invested more than 200 dollars in this brand.
