Good design and range, poor quality
Liked it at the beginning, so purchased two pair of glasses. Everyone asked for the brand. However, the quality was little disappointed. Keeps missing screws in first months, the frame's metal part got rusted. Warranty claimed, got a new pair same thing happen. Probably will not go back..
Good customer service but terrible product
Received very good customer service but have to say the quality of the glasses are terrible.
The glasses became scratched and scuffed ( to the inside of the lens) within a month - and this I am someone who only takes my glasses off to sleep at night. The frames feel flimsy and do not retain shape and constantly feels like it is falling.
The overall quality and value for money is miles behind other retailers ( eg Specsavers, Bailey Nelson) that i have used previously. In fact I am back to wearing a 3 year old pair of Specsavers glasses as my new Oscar Wylee pair is unwearable.
I hope that the lens will be covered under the warranty policy and will be going back to the store to follow up.
Better equipment and full optical services
They really need to upgrade their equipment to include what is considered standard. For example cameras, fields machines, contact lenses and oct machines. Especially contact lenses this is the only optometrits that doesn't offer them. The equipment is basic at best, the staff do their best but it really doesn't meet expectations

No customer service
I ordered two prescription glasses from Morayfield, one being transitions. Ready for pick up in two weeks.
They do not check to see if they sit correctly on your face or behind your ears. Absolute zero customer service. Try them on, one is way too loose, one is too tight. Give it a while, you’ll get used to it. Come back if you can’t get used to it. Okay, but these are falling off my face!!! They tried to tighten them up, popped the lens out. Couldn’t get the lens back in for ages!! Still too loose, but there was no way I was asking them to t...ouch them again. So I went to the north lakes store, explained what had happened, and she was able to check the sitting on my face and fix the one that was too loose properly. Tomorrow I will go back and get the too tight pair fixed because guess what, I didn’t get used to them! One hour wearing them and ow :( Nobody explained to me that Transitions don’t really work, or work at all in the car. I actually took the glasses back to the store and the tested them under the UV power light - ‘maybe that’ll kickstart them!’ Ummm, what? I paid $200 for something that doesn’t work!!! Still no improvement. I went to Oscar Wyler from Specsavers to support an Australian brand, but with no customer service and a terrible first experience, I won’t be back and I won’t be recommending.
Trendy range - bad quality
Overall not the greatest company and wouldn't recommend if you want quality. Went to the QV Melbourne store to purchase the week before lock down. Blond girl at QV barely battered an eye towards me and my partner and there was no one else in the store. Didn't ask if we needed help and was tempted to just leave but found a really nice pair and decided to purchase. Was told 2 weeks and that was that.
I found the customer service through Instagram to be better than the girl in store. I had DM'd asking about when I would receive my glasses and the...y got back to me after a few days. I get they're struggling because of Rona but I saw ALOT of angry comments from customers demanding to know where their glasses were. I guess I was one of the lucky ones that got a response every time. It took 7.5 weeks to finally receive my glasses. I had been working from home that entire time and had to suffer through headaches and eyestrain from working on my laptop. Not ideal however I shouldn't complain because I am one of the lucky ones that can still wfh. Anyway, packaging was nice but the glasses themselves are not the greatest quality. I got thick black frames but they feel so fragile, like they're going to break at any moment. Also they are slightly bent out of shape and don't sit straight and even though I paid for protective coating and anti glare, the left eye is showing glare and the glasses attract dirt and dust like you wouldn't believe. My old glasses never got this dirty. It's really weird. Look, if you want trendy frames then OW has good range. But for quality I wouldn't recommend.
Should’ve read the reviews first!
I’ve had my glasses for under 3 months and they’re already broken, they look nice but are pretty poor quality imo. I’ve also emailed them 3 time for separate inquiries and never got a reply back ever... It’s pretty poor form. I’ve now decided to go to a well known company to get new glasses and they handled things a lot more professionally.
Mixed bag progressives and mid range off
Expected outcomes first contact: excellent optometrist eye check, good frame selection
Unexpected actions: frame/eye calibration position was done standing up with optical staff is way taller than me. It should be done in a perpendicular eye level position. It was recommended to get the top tier Elite line of progressive range but told the optical staff it didn't work right from the same level tier of a different provider previously. That provider change it to a premium mid tier that work excellent on the older prescription.
Delivery outcomes...: premium multi-coating is excellent, far distance and sense of depth is good, product hand over and fitting was just done as is and wear it accordingly so your eyes get use to it. Overall driving use is excellent but transition to vehicle instrumentation seems a bit off. Problematic use: Computer use leads to constant eye hunting to read the text off the the screen on my desktop PC or laptop. Came back at store and was checked on the eye frame calibration (standing up again) told to speak the manager 3 days later when she is in. Manager checked the fit observed it again. I am still rubbing my right eye occasionally and try to catch a reference point which is annoying as I have told them of my experience. I have worn progressives in the past 12 years and I know when it works. Please see my updates on the comments.
Picked up glasses for second time, wrong frames the first time. The assistant who serviced me first was lovely (Prue), the second assistant was dressed like she just was going out to a café ( Jeans and t shirt) I was just handed the glasses no offering to check them on. I also think that they should present themselves the represent the Company, which means to me you don't wear your glasses on your head.
Happy with the eye wear just not the services that was not offered
Would not recommend
- Staff do not have the knowledge to provide valuable advice in selecting the frame that would match to your face. ! I got glasses from them - the nose pads are very hard . Just feel for yourself, they are hurting my nose.
- Their lenses are made of poor quality, I would recommend branded lenses. Stylish frames but not quite comfortable !
- Some staff can be quite impatient to help you adjust frames for you or don’t even have the required optical knowledge.
- Manager at Top Ryde is highly unprofessional. Impatient. Imply my lenses that I got somewhere else are not genuine.
Cheap but definitely not worth it - go to a higher quality glasses provider
The store was clean and fresh, with a huge range of glasses - many distracting sparkly squirrels. In reality, the glasses are poor quality and bend out of shape easily. The fixtures and joins are poorly put together and pieces of the glasses like the nose bridge piece are awkward and ill-fitting. The service staff in the shop were friendly and helpful, but kindness can't cover up a poor product. I'd advise anyone who has the money to avoid Oscar Wylee and go to a good quality glasses provider who can provide you with really good quality frames ...that will last a long time. I got mine only a couple of months ago and they are already bent out of shape and the adjustments to put them in shape don't work because the quality of the material is so poor.
Smug service. Disappointing
I liked the advertised frames so thought I would give them ago. Disappointingly the service staff were insincere and smug.
Despite no one in store and no appointments after me, I was given a warning for being 10mins late to appointment despite my apology from the outset.
Optometrist also wasn't willing/didnt have knowledge of other aspects of service delivery eg option to order glasses online.
Sales staff proceeded to have an unprofessional chat between each other as I tried on frames.
Questions & Answers
do you guarantee glasses from scratches and if so for how long
Hi Carlos, I believe all the glasses in Oscar Wylee comes with scratch-resistant coating. I am not sure how long the coating will last for but I received my glasses in June and I wear it daily. Up till now, there have been no scratches yet. (p.s I am pretty careless when it comes to my glasses) Hope this helps!
You would be best to ring Oscar Wylee and ask them about the coating etc available.
Did you have problems with the prescription?
I have been using my new glasses for a week and I feel that my sight got worse with them and my headache as well, I feel that I see things more blurry and I get tired easily... Now reading all the bad reviews I am scared about having invested more than 200 dollars in this brand.
Thank you so much, my glasses are just arrived, I m so happy, Herivelto from Melbourne
