Oushou Japanese Restaurant South Yarra

If I haven't reviewed this restaurant before I should have. I've been there half a dozen times and never been disappointed. In this I am clearly not alone. It's always busy and often noisy as a result of its popularity. Melbourne restaurants only remain popular if they provide good food at reasonable prices and Oushou certainly does that. Quite basic bare plain smallish wood tables furnished with chop sticks and paper serviettes are adequate but the food is the star. We loved the tasting menu $59, which the whole table doesn't have to order, (see pic gmiso glazed egg plant are favourites for us. Prawn nachos are also nice. The battered soft shell crab was a bit disappointing. Too much batter and too oily but there are lots of other dishes which we enjoyed. A glass of plum wine $11 ended up with a bill of $125 for two of us.
