This was our first cruise. The crew on the Eden were fantastic. Nothing was too much for them. The shows were great on board.
There were some downsides. The onboard activities were often quite short. For example the logo quiz went for 7 minutes. The food in the Pantry was always at the right temperature. The same could not be said for the restaurants. The food in the restaurants was luke warm and never hot. I heard other people saying this was not their experience on other cruises.
The other negative was while sitting in the movie theat...re a 20 to 30 year old Chinese man came and sat besides my wife and I despite there being 100 spare seats. Shortly afterwards he began playing with my leg/knee with the guise of seeking my advice on the time. I know this could happen anywhere but it was very unsettling. The cabin itself was clean but the bathroom is showing signs of wear.
I will congratulate some of the support and transport staff, on how they managed the difficult task of moving passages round the city. Due to Pacific Eden delayed arrival into Sydney due to bad weather conditions. However after waiting 3+ hrs on the side walk in the cold from 5pm to board a bus was a bit too much.. Especially for many who have health issues.. Once on board we had many more issues ranging from a broken bed, broken coffee machine, block toilet, room service fail to bring hot water (the water was just warm if that). Breakfast in...-room service the next morning was a very disappointment, we are still waiting for the coffee to arrive, we had to call them several time as we didn't also received the butter and jams we ordered for the croissants. But we should not have bother as the croissants was so hard l was able to stand a knife up in one of them. After complaining to the house staff / supervisor / requesting to see the manager to no prevail, we were forced to takes these issues to the higher staff member.. I will say a big thank you to [name removed] on the desk. She was the only one who took our complains seriously and made things better and follow up to make sure all the broken bed, toilet and coffee machine was repaired. The entertainment was the only high light of the trip...
P and O are to congratulated on how they managed the extremely difficult situation of the Pacific Eden arriving late into Sydney due to dreadful weather and rough seas. They provided shuttle buses to move us around the city and kept us well informed via email. Once on board we had a ball. Brilliant entertainment. The most comfortable bed. Choice of food. We were delayed leaving until the following day due to weather conditions but the show went on as normal. We would definitely travel with P and O again.
The weather for the 10 days was great which always helps. The boarding process was easy and fast. The room was clean well set out and had everything we expected. The vessel layout and amenities were great and the best we have been on. The staff were awesome and very helpful. We were lucky to get a deal with the drink package for $50 per day which was very good value. We find the variety and quality of the food was amazing considering being on a boat, ( with the Pantry, Waterfront, Angelos & Dragon Lady all included in the price) All the people in our group enjoyed the shows and find this trip to be very good value for money.
Excellent Hospitality..wish U travel again with my family..
We travelled P&O Pacific Eden cruise on 13 April with 5 families..we were in 4124...Cabin...we enjoyed each and every moment.Hospatality was excellent..Kids enjoyed a lot...Room services was fantastic..coming to food..Deserts was super..still we missing slot..only a small concern..is we couldn't have much options for Vegetearian people...Other food courts have plenty options for Non Vegetearian..so I wish to change and have some more dishes for Vegetearians...Happy Happy..One of my best journey now..
Best cruise so far!!!
Grow up, be brave and try P&O for yourselves, don't believe the negative reviews at all, seriously. Some people have nothing better to do with their spare time than to bag a cruise line in the hope that others will believe them and opt to cruise with another line instead. I have to admit I used to be one of those people who believed those reviews. I will never ever again believe them.
I never thought I would go on a P&O cruise as I thought they were more geared at the "young/single/drunk/looking for lust" type of clientele and after reading ...the reviews I was very skeptical to try. Friends of ours, who have only ever cruised Princess by the way, tried the 4 night cruise from Melbourne to Eden and back again just a few weeks ago and had nothing but good reviews about it. They were very impressed and convinced us to try the 4 night cruise from Melbourne to Kangaroo Island and back again arriving home on Saturday. The deciding factor for me to also try a P&O cruise was from someone who has tried another cruise line and told me that they were impressed. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that we were so impressed by the whole experience. We have also been on Carnival which we thought was good and Princess earlier in the year which I absolutely hated. The crew were so extremely rude and were not nice to deal with at all. Upon returning we found out the reason behind why staff were so "not bothered to deal with passengers" was because the ship has been sold and by 2019 they will have to find alternative jobs. Not a good way to end their final year of working, very sad actually. Of course there are the positives to a Princess cruise eg. 24 hr food and room service included but seriously if you only go on a cruise for the 24 hr food then you have to re-think why you are going. There are so many other aspects of a cruise apart from food. I can honestly say that the food was much better on the P&O also than the Princess and the fact that they serve you the food, even in the buffet, was so much more hygienic too. The variety of food was amazing. By the way, even if they had just bacon and eggs on offer for breakfast instead of 8 different cuisines (including Asian and Indian) I still wouldn't complain. I would never complain to anyone who wants to cook my food at any time of the day. I cook every day at home so when I have a break from it, I am ever so grateful. The production shows on the P&O were comparable to the Carnival cruises we have been on. They were absolutely fantastic. The costumes and shows were amazing, 100% better than Princess I have to honestly say. I also included all this information in my rating to P&O also as we received an email asking for a survey to be completed. Thank you so much P&O for making our cruise the most memorable one. I am already in the process of booking my next cruise for November this year. Can't wait.
I love the Eden. But have been I'll for over a week since disembarking.
I am curious, if any fellow cruislings got a flu like virus from the recent food and wine cruise on the Eden? When I got to my suite, the toilet hadn't been cleaned from previous passengers. I didn't make a complaint as I know how hard the staff work. And it was probably an oversight. But I have been severely ill for over a week. My sister was hospitalised and quarantined about 4 months ago. With the same virus, after being on the eden. Which makes me wonder. Is there something being skipped in the hygiene practices when cleaning. Or perhaps something in the airflow system. I truly love the Eden, its staff and crew. I just want to inform the company. So it can be reviewed. I sail again in June. And am looking forward to it.
Have been on many cruises and this one was bad. 9 days adelaide tassue adelaide. The ship is old cabin tired and in need of refit. The bathroom accessories for shampoo etc impossible to dispense. I was travelling with my mother who caught some bug and was sick for 4 days. Would have got off in Hobart if there was a direct flight home. Found the food mediocre in all the restaurants we tried. The fancy salt restaurant with a whopping 50 dollar cover charge took 3and a half hours to get out of there. The food was slow and cold by the time it final...ly came and underwellming. I found the wine really overpriced and although I tried every cocktail could not find one done well. I know they slug you on cruises and although our lead in price was cheap the extras were not. i don’t mind paying, if it’s worth it but in general I felt ripped off. Having to buy a decent coffee is annoying. In case you all feel I am a total whinger I asked many people how their cruse was going and found they were having a similarly bad experience. All seasoned cruisers who could not recommend p and o cruises. I know I will never use this cruise line again, never recommend it to others. Try Holland America,Azammara,Crystal or Celebity,Princess line. It’s may seem more expensive but the extras are cheaper and the experience so much richer! Pacific eden? My advise don’t do it!!
Cheap in price and quality
The booking process was through cruisesalefinder and I found them initially to be easy to communicate with. However when we encountered hurdles and needed to alter things they would not budge on changes. We booked for a total of $500pp and then within less than a 24hr period the price dropped to $350 when we discussed with them the new price and that we had sailed multiple times they would not provide any credit nor change the booking.
We were not given clear information either on how to access the online booking system and when we went to pu...
Awful customer service
I had started booking 4 rooms online for a cruise in October, it wouldn't let me book it, so I had to call up to book, which is fine. I spoke to a guy on the phone who was really nice and really helpful, told me the final price was $1148.93 pp. He sent me the confirmations for all four rooms, and I realised that rooms had a little under $1500 pp. I also had realised that everyone had $50 onboard credit, where me and my partner had $100 each? I called back up to ask what was the go, the guy was absolutely awful on the phone. I told him the situa...tion and he said "where did you get $1148.93 from?" I had told him I had gotten it from the website, he then said I was wrong, and he was taking off everyone's onboard credit because it was a mistake?? Even though the onboard credit comes with the room? As the terms and conditions say. I asked if I made and online booking whilst I'm speaking to him, he will be able to see both bookings, and how they are both the same room, he said "sure, but I know you will be wrong". I ended up quickly making the online booking, and it was exactly $1148.93 with $100 onboard credit pp... he took the reservation number, then looked at it, and hung up on me? I called back to cancel on all rooms I had booked, they said sure no problem, but they still haven't been cancelled. My friends and I looked at our bookings, and they all say it's all been paid for? I called back to ask if it was a system error or? I was waiting for about 20 minutes, when someone answers "sorry we're closing now, you'll have to call back tomorrow". I just wish I remember the name of the guy I had spoke to.
Entertainment crew were fantastic!!!!
The whole of 2 back-to-back cruises, spanning PNG, Soloman Islands, Hamilton Island and Sydney were wonderful. It was the entertainment crew who made our cruise so memorable. We had fun onboard every day! Surely they do get tired some time? NOT this lot! Their infectious smiles and attitudes on our cruises Oct 24th 2016 to Nov 6th 2016 ensured we will book again. Thank you all
Top Cruise To Tasmania
Did a 6 night cruise from Sydney to Tasmania return on Dec 1 2017. It was a very enjoyable cruise.
We are not new to cruising so we could compare and it was as nice if not better than the previous 3 we had done. Staff were great, entertainment good (apart from some shows that we saw on previous cruises). In general the bars and lounges were ok.
Food was good in all restaurants although things could be a bit bland in the pantry. Also some food was not keep warm enough in the pantry.
Best part was the fantastic crew, thank you to them.
Hope to travel again on the Pacific Eden.
cabin 6074 what a delight????
we drew the short straw on our xmas cruise.....jagged cabin 6074....right next to the atrium. Public toilet directly across corridor. Doors to promenade deck 6 inches from my bed...slamming constantly. After 12 cruises with various carriers never came across a room right next to a public access area. Haven't slept for days. Can't sleep in the arvo because of activities in the atrium and slamming door. Can't sleep at night because of vacuuming at 3am and cleaners chatting/laughing and slamming doors. Complained about noise first night and was of...fered ear plugs. No ear plugs arrived. Complained about noise next night and was told doors would be locked at reasonable hour. Complained at 3am about staff vacuuming in atrium and was offered ear plugs again but received complimentary drink voucher instead....still no ear plugs and no solution to problem...voucher returned to reception with expletive. Heading to one of the bars tonight to couch surf in hope can get some shut eye. Complained for 5th time about slamming door that literally rocks the room and suggested maintenance investigate...still no action. Air conditioner in room doesn't work. Toilet doesn't flush. Water turned off 2 nights in a row and no running water at all any where on ship 2nd day out. Ship engine failed 1st night out. The worst cruise EVA!
First cruise ever...really excited...well.....where do we start. Just got off today after a 4 day cruise to moreton island.... first day... arrive at our cabin windowed room on deck 6. the doors are open to around 10 cabins with extension cords everywhere with what sounds like blowers. We are told there was swell and weather issues from last trip...hmmm... only this particular section of these cabins are affected... not the rest of the cabins on the starboard side. The rooms are absolutely putrid from wet carpet. Go into the bathroom and I can ...smell sewerage. This is a blown pipe issue not a swell/weather issue. Offered another room to shower and change in as the original cabin room wont be available until 9pm. We try to sleep in our booked cabin that night, my partner becomes sick from the smell. The rest of the trip is like this with various remedies offered to fix the issues. The pipes in the bath are blocked and hair, sediment and other various things begin to float back up from previous occupants in amongst knee deep water. Constant lack of hot water issues We are offered a mediocre onboard credit in response to constant...and i mean constant complaining..from ourselves and the other travellers in the same section. We should not have to spend our holiday complaining...they don't like it and we don't either...its exhausting The only thing that kept us sane was the endless laps of the boat and some of the entertainment and getting off the boat at moreton island, which was great. Dining at the restaurants...if you're a couple wanting a nice meal together...forget it...you will be sat next to another couple wanting the same.
I mean literally - my toddler and I were electrocuted!!!
Right now I am just thankful that my baby is still alive...
Faulty light switch covers in my cabin were held in place with electrical tape. The one that zapped us on day 3 had its electrical tape missing prior to our arrival and the cover popped out at every press. The cabin should never have been rented out in this condition.
Naturally I wanted the two of us to be medically assessed and despite their negligence P&O would only assess us if I agreed to cover the cost. $412 later the medical reports reflect inaccurate reasons for the consults.
Security interviewed me only to conclude it was an accident rather than admitting to negligence.
Avoid the floating toilet Bogan Bonkship!
A small family group of us booked the Australia Day cruise which was supposed to dock in Sydney Harbour to view the fireworks. I’m in a wheelchair but pretty capable of getting around.
Wheelchair friendly room? I could just scrape my knuckles getting to the bed in the tiny room and tiny bathroom. The aircon was blasted on frozen 24/7 and smelled horrendously. The bed however I found pretty comfortable, my partner wasn’t particularly comfortable.
The ship was putrid, tired, stank, dank, dark, outdated... Supposedly it was going to be decom...missioned, I’m not sure if that has happened yet (writing this review nearly 12 months since we cruised) but it should’ve been decommissioned much earlier than when we traveled on it. There was water leaking all over the gross carpet in a few places - and I see another few reviewers mentioned the same thing so obviously nothing has been done about it. There’s nothing for adults to do unless you’re utterly brain dead and drinking way overpriced weak REUSED alcohol. The trivia was borderline racist. The casino was dank and cold; yet amazingly was the best value for money on the whole bloody thing! There’s kids running amok from their drunken dead-eyed breeder parents everywhere. Nobody has any common decency or manners; so many times I would be waiting for an elevator while hoards of lazy adults and rampant children would just push in front of us when they could be using the stairs five metres away. There was NO disabled toilets working!! Every time I had to go to the loo I would have to go from wherever we were on the ship back to the room and squeeze past bed, into bathroom...

Can i take soft drinks and water ?
If you are just travelling in south australian waters on a four day cruise do you need to fill out a prescription medical form or can you just bring your medication on board in a pill box?
