Paying for water
Upon looking into booking a cruise with p&o I discovered that you have to have a drinks package even for water.
I think this is disgraceful and wrong to charge for this, and for this reason I would never book with this company before even looking into any thing else.
Why don’t they add this to the cost of the cruise instead of making an essential item an extra.
I have cruised with Carnival, water and soft drink was included in the booking price, alcohol obviously extra.
cruise to hell
Staff Great , Food total crap pig food , Over crowded , Totally RUDE passengers . Children very polite and well mannered , Drunks boat I mean drunks cruising . never will we cruise again finished.
Overall a good group holiday
Good comfortable cabin- balcony. Level 9 balc opening smaller than level 10. Comfortable bed and wonderful Tommy stewards. Restaurants, bars staff friendly too. Cocktails all very sweet with minimal alcohol. Shows good. Entertainers all great. Food can be dry, overcooked and a bit bland. Desserts look fake with red and green colouring used a lot . Lots of areas to sit quietly if wanted. Adults only area and gym . Info talks generally income generating. In school holidays cruises are not good value.
Worst cruise ever
24 June 2019 12 day cruise. From day one they had 3 drunks causing trouble swearing asking one of the staff to bend over so they could you know what in front of elderly couples. One women was terrified of them and asked if she could stay next to me and my wife. They asked her to come to there cabin and have some lines of coke. One of them had a screaming match with security. Any other cruise line would have put them off at the first port. Maybe the Captain on the explorer approves of this kind of behaviour. Don't bother getting priority tender ...tickets as the staff on board don't know what they are. We were also had VIP tickets priority boarding and disembarkation. Our luggage was last to come off and we missed our flight. This is the third time people have had drugs on P&O. As the Captain has full responsibility to what happens on the ship maybe its time to change Captains before they have another death on board. I will never travel P&O again. I wont even bother to mention the poor service and quality of the food.
In early May 2019 our group of 14 made a booking through Flight centre for a New Years Eve trip out of Brisbane 28/12/2019 at a supposedly sale price of $1600 per person. On the 4/7/2019 P & O Cruise line sent an email directly to me promoting exactly the same cruise for $1200. I immediately contacted Flight centre to cancel the first price and rebook on the $1200 price. When they contacted P & O they were told that we would all loose our deposits paid which was $250 per person if we rebooked at the $1200. My beef is why would P & O be So BRA...INLESS as to send an email to someone who has already booked advertising the trip for $400 less. This has caused unnecessary grief and anger......GET IT TOGETHER P&O our group have done many trips with you in the past and have never asked or been offered any favours. The big boys will be hitting Brisbane’s new terminal at the end of the year so maybe you should start looking after your LOYAL CUSTOMERS!!! Winifred Brenda Rotondo
This was my third cruise and we made it 14 day one out to Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Noumea. The quality of the food in the Waterfront restaurant has certainly gone down hill and we where not the only ones to note this. The breakfast menu stayed the same for 2 weeks. If you wanted to eat in the Pantry you had to time it right just to get seating. I have never seen so many wheelie walkers and walking sticks in my life it was like being in a nursing home. Will I cruise again probably not, I guess its just not for everyone.
Had a great time on the Bounty Cruise 15 to 29th June, 2019
We had the best room steward with Thamel and Dion cabin 8174, our dining room stewards Cecep and Rachel were wonderful, special mention to Daenielle, Annabel, Maddy, Annie Lizzing and Tina.
Everything was great, Louie was the best sports co-ordinator, great personality.
We had a wonderful time thank you.
All ok till on board 18-24 June cruise to Hobart. The ship smelt of sewerage (?) most of the time-very bad!! Food choices in buffet limited..always basically the same and hardly any vegetables... I have food issues and found it difficult to get a decent meal .one night I was told there was no entre for me. Never been on a cruise where some shows had to be paid for- so didn't see those. Also not a lot of choice for entertainment unfortunately..that was my last cruise with P&O- very disappointed .
Best holiday, great food great service especially Ivan waterfront restaurant, comfortable beds great entertainment very relaxing but fun as well. Love the rooms easy embankment on and off salt restaurant was awesome. My 5th cruise with p@0

Really bad smell for days
The booking process was great, nice and fast.
The smell through out the middle of the ship from the Atrium all the way upstairs and to the Blue Room stank for days, you could not sit in the piano room due to this. They provided some lemon smelly stuff which was better, however this stayed with us until we docked in Hobart.
The accommodation cabin was very narrow to get into the room with the heavy door. The room shook noisily through out the nights, not much sleep. Our bed was very uncomfortable, however our cabin steward supplied a mattress pr...
Discrimination against under 18 yo
My family has decided we want to go on a 7-night cruise on the Pacific Dawn leaving Brisbane on 11 January 2020 to the Great Barrier Reef with a group of friends. I rang P&O today to book 4 staterooms (for 8 people) only to find out that P&O has discriminated against my 16 year old daughter, saying that P&O have exhausted their quota of children under 18. I thought I was hearing things!! So as I understand it, P&O have a buffer and once that buffer is reached NO children under 18 are allowed on board their FAMILY cruise ships during the SCHO...OL HOLIDAYS. That simply does not make sense!!! After numerous cruises, this is the first time we have tried to cruise with P&O Australia (I have cruised with Royal Caribbean and Carnival with no problems at all) and was totally astonished and disappointed. When I shared this information with friends and other family members they too were stunned and ashamed that P&O would do this. Shame on you P&O!!!!
Wouldn't give us 20 min to get from delayed flight
Totally inflexible!!!! They don't give "A crap"
Extra cost to fly from NZ to Fiji & Accommodation, and not even the "gesture" of an onboard Restaurant Voucher.....considering P&O have saved on 3 Nights Food and Servicing of Room.
Booked through an agent and was okay but the experience on the Jewel wasn't good. Crew was good but food and entertainment was nothing to boast about. It was about money. Won't go on P&O ever again
BAD. Please read.
omg love self torture, sadistic? want to be tested for HIV, stuff stolen and get caught with a bunch of dying turtles and animals... want to wait 6months for your refund so you dont post these reviews. DO THIS CRUISE!
boat helplessly run down, caught in lifts for 20minutes. missed ports due to bad weather... turns out there are numerous ways to access the island, we could have gone,. all 9 of us there for a 50th birthday CRAZY MONEY SPENT rough rough days at sea but no communication from staff. plates falling in restaurants 'oh it is always li...ke this' entertainment is nonexistent. we were actually bored. pools closed for no reason, emptied even. closed at 6 when open!! one of us was hurt at island. really bad. i ran to first aid who didnt give a crap to be honest. i then ran to tender boat to ask them to wait. ran back to injured to get them off a rigger they were injured on then we carried her to the jetty where first aid had a wheelchair. mind u they wouldnt even turn it around so she could get in! useless and EXPENSIVE doctor fees, she is still coping with injury, needs surgery and even got tested for a wealth of serious diseases. Do not do it. Seriously reconsider!
10 day’s on a leaky boat
We are 3 professional woman who booked a suite to attend a conference being run on the Dawn by Education at Sea. We booked a suite and were allocated cabin 11115 on deck 11.
Our initial impression was Ok. The suite was spacious and had obviously been refurbished recently. The ship overall looked tired, but not too bad.
The first day in the dining room looked promising, until the food was served. The food throughout the cruise was terrible. Cheap, tasteless, and limited selection. The lunch menu in the dining room was not changed for 5 ...days, then changed once for the remaining 5 days. The pantry was crowded, and you had to queue for every cuisine so if you wanted a little salad with you fish, queue at a second window for that. It was always very difficult to find a seat, and would have been impossible to sit with a group if you were traveling with friends. Room service breakfast was free as we were in suites, and best choice, however there is a cover charge if not in a suite. The real fun started on day 4, when our port was cancelled due to weather preventing the tender transfers to the island, that is no ones fault, and unfortunately 2 of our ports were missed. With not much to do, I decided to have a relaxing bath. Within 10 minutes of me letting the water out, the cabin was a wash literally, we had water raising from the bathroom floor, from below the tiles, and and wet carpert to the bed areas. We had to leave the cabin, whilst the poor cabin staff tried to address this issue, and dry the cabin, so now we were locked out of our cabin at sea with very little in the way of entertainment and crowded areas to try to find something to do for the day. By early evening with the water issue ongoing, they finally decided to give us access to a downgraded cabin to sleep in, for this they offered us $60 each onboard credit as compensation. Day 6 another missed port, and this time it was the toilet floor that was flooding, lots of men coming and going to try to fix this.
WASTE of money, time, holiday
Do NOT book with P&O. I had an absolutely horrendous experience from start to finish. Throughout several attempts to contact them regarding our booking, P&O were continually non-responsive, and in the limited times when they were, I was given misinformation. I had to resort to Fair Trading multiple times in order to get a response from P&O.
I gave the benefit of the doubt and continued on the cruise, only to be shocked with more of their appalling service. This includes:
- A large, thumb-size piece of plastic found in our food,
- Numerous enco...
Loved everything but there is something suspicious about them.
We went from Sydney to Vanuatu. The staff were smiley and friendly and we made friends with the bedroom cleaners! Dining in board go a bit repetitious though it was fine dining every night! I loved everything but when we went to see the land diving, Mum asked the residence how much they got paid and if it was the real tradition time to do land diving, the people told us they didn’t get much for it and it wasn’t the traditional time. They said when ever a cruise came they planned something because it was the only money they would make for a while.
Double billed us, still trying to get through to someone.
I have read a few of the reviews and I would tend to agree regarding the Pacific Dawn I was a bit surprised on how run down it all looked and the food ended up getting a bit repetitive. Though the staff was great. The toilet sometimes had some issues and now I am sick also it is a third day in and I am feeling terrible after disembarkment and on top of that I'm having to deal with a credit card issue that the company is simply not responding to.
I would not be writing this review if I could actually get a hold of someone to rectify the credit c...
Toilets badly need work
Traveled from Auckland around Fiji and Tonga. Food just great, service impeccable staff the best. But toilets very unsafe because they kept blocking. The poor staff. Someone will get sick.
Worst holiday ever
Cabin, cabin staff and good water pressure in shower, a couple of good shows were the only positives on this 4 day cruise to Whitsundays. The ship is old and tired, food disgusting in the pantry, very difficult to find a seat and tables not cleared, queued for everything. Very rude and unfriendly passengers. Went On the Explorer last year and it was a great experience.
