If the airline cancels the flight am I still covered by insurance?

Hi Terry, Your coverage will depend on the reason for why the airline cancelled your flights e.g. Strikes, weather, hijack, civil protest or accident.

Generally if the airline cancels a flight due to something that is within their control like engineering issues or issues relating to the operating of the flight e.g staffing requirements then there would not be coverage.

We advise that if you are overseas and your flight is cancelled please call our on trip assistance team on +61 2 7909 2777 OR if you are still in Australia and would like further clarification call 1300 123 413.

If we need to cancel out trip, due to unforeseen circumstances eg illness does insurance cover all the accommodation cancellation fees as well as airfares?

Regarding cancellation due to illness, we will require medical documentation to confirm you cannot travel. In addition to this, we require confirmation of the diagnosis and the date of diagnosis. It’s a policy requirement to determine if the condition that has caused you to cancel is a pre-existing medical condition or not.

I was aware of this, I guess my question was is accommodation covered (as well as airfares) if we can't travel due to illness and it is approved by Travelcard. We have fully paid for all travel and accommodation but our trip is not until December.

20 year old son travelling to Turkey on 29 Feb for a month, then going to ?? can I get multicover and let you know a week before he goes to his next destination? What will he be covered for?

Do you pay upfront for hospital admissions & deal with hospital?

The insurance company provide you with a debit card that they put funds on if you need to go to hospital/see a dr and you use the card for the bill so your not out of pocket at all .

Hi Monica, In an emergency and you need to make an on-trip claim (medical issue overseas, delayed luggage , stolen cash), you can call our global assistance team any time on our reverse charge number: +61 2 7909 2777 for a quick solution and funds are instantly transferred to the TravelCard. If you do not have access to a phone, we also offer email and skype as additional communication channels.
