great service
good coverage and no dropouts and no problems with the service at a very good price for both of our phones with plenty of data and great customer service and mothley statments
Satisfied customer
Network is reliable and we had no issues to report so far . Download speed is good and we have not had any dropouts so far although we hardly traveled from home because of the coronavirus restrictions

Unexplained delays in SMSes and no response to support ticket
On 3 different occasions with 2 different senders, I had an unexplained delay in receiving SMSes by 35 minutes each time. I tried to contact Pennytel for support but they never responded to my support request.
When you sign up, you also get called by pushy Indian call centre operators if you don't activate your account within a certain period.

Service is so very dubious that I cannot rely on it.
Grabben Gullen, NSW 2583 has incredibly poor coverage making farm/business life so very hard.
Are there any plans to improve this area?
Currently school children are unable to access the internet with their Google Classroom work.

Could be better signal only 2 bars in regional area
Very good service , is reliable however disappointing as only 2 bars and using Telstra lines I expected better.
Would like access to 1900 numbers for competitions, no real issues or dropouts that I’ve experienced

I am happy with the service provided. I have experienced no faults with the system. However I believe I am not fully using the phone as there may be a number of uses I am not aware of. An instruction manual would help.

no coverage at our home
We still get no coverage unless I go out and stand in the street. When we were away recently, we got good coverage , even on the ship that was way off the coast of Aus. It is much cheaper than the others.

Professional approach
The reason I left Pennytel was the dropouts which I didn't experience before eg sitting down and leaning forward and the call would drop out. I reverted to my previous telco and Penny tel were extremely understanding and professional when transferring my old number back.

Totally satisfied with the coverage.
I've had the service for two months now and am totally satisfied with the coverage. Keep up the good work.
I did have a problem with the billing at first however that has been sorted out and everything is working well.

Positives
1. This and other Pennytel mobile plans are well priced and generally well explained in its marketing.
2. Mobile reception is excellent.
3. Customer service is excellent. Each time I have contacted customer service I have spoken to a real person without delay and each time the immediate issue was dealt with promptly and satisfactorily.
Negatives
1. Our initial bill was incorrect. It applied a discount only to one account not both. Also the first bill after we changed our plan recently was incorrect (we were overcharged).
2. The charge for using data over the allowance seems punitive ($10 for 1 GB)
3. The charge for using data over the allowance is not advertised up front at all. This is deceptive.

Read more In relation to the charges for additional data charges, this is standard charge across all carriers but can understand that this may have taken you by surprise. We do allow our customers to choose by manually adding it to their bill, avoiding bill shock. This is something that may be worth considering going forward. No problems with the mobile service but unhappy with handset sales.
I have been using the Pennytel $10.99 monthly plan since February 2019 after switching from Optus. It suits my needs and I'm happy with it. However, in August I took up their offer of purchasing a Nokia 3.2 handset for $186.75. For some reason, Pennytel sent me two handsets and debited my credit card for both. I arranged to return the unwanted one and get a refund. The goods were confirmed returned, but despite numerous enquiries by phone and email, have not yet, at 13 September, received the refund. Very frustrated and annoyed about this.

I would have preferred the refund to be repaid in full into my Visa Card account, from where it was taken. After I have received my full refund, I would like my credit card details removed from your records, and to change my monthly service fee payments to B-pay. Better than the big providers
Our network coverage through the Telstra system has always been poor and unreliable. Pennytel reception is better, for less than half the cost, probably because their network is not oversubscribed. Easy to contact too.

No coverage outback Qld
I cancelled because i didnt get coverage in areas i needed it when travelling though i could get coverage with telstra directly which is a pity. Telstra keep coverage for their own clients unless you in big city

It uses a cut down version of Telstra's network so the service isn't any better than other providers (I used vodafone and optus before, they all have gaps in different areas), but my experience with customer service has been very good. Can't complain.
