Perth Solar Direct

I recently had a Sigenergy solar and battery system installed at my home by Perth Solar Direct, and the experience has been extremely poor from start to finish. I would strongly advise others not to use this company. To start with, my application for a non‑standard install was rejected twice by Western Power because Perth Solar Direct neglected to tick a required box on the application form, resulting in many months of approval delays.
Then, within days of the install, an independent electrical inspection and a separate roofing inspection identified multiple defects and non‑compliances in both the electrical work and the roof installation. The equipment was installed by their contractor, Dietrich Electrical. Issues included poor cable support and routing, problems with earthing and panel clamping, incorrect or unsuitable roof penetrations and dektites, tiles not seated correctly and cracked or damaged, incorrect labelling, and problems with the mounting of the battery stack and associated equipment. This is well below what I would expect from any professional installer.
Even more concerning, when I used my oven for the first time after the install, the circuit repeatedly tripped and there was a burning smell from the switchboard. This was related to an RCD that was replaced as part of the solar/battery works, and I had to keep that circuit turned off until I could hire another electrician to fix it properly and promptly. Having to bring in a third party to make safe work that had just been done speaks volumes about the quality and safety of the installation.
I have provided Perth Solar Direct with the independent inspection report and a detailed list of defects and requested a clear rectification plan. At the time of writing, I am still waiting for a number of these issues to be resolved to an acceptable standard. Instead of taking responsibility, they claim I am being unreasonable for insisting the job is reinspected at their cost and complies with industry best practice and the Sigenergy installation manual. They also remotely disabled my Sigenergy inverter and then tried to use that as leverage to pressure me into paying the less than 20% of the total contract value I have retained pending proper resolution of the defects.
Based on my experience, I do not trust this company to deliver a safe, compliant or professionally managed installation, and I would strongly discourage others from engaging them.

Why promise a battery you can’t deliver? We trusted your staff, and now the battery we paid for isn’t available. We are forced to look at completely different options — all because of your broken promises. Other companies are offering better prices and discounts, yet we are stuck paying for your mistakes. This is unacceptable. Stop misleading customers for your own benefit. Stop blaming your staff — this is your business, and you are responsible for serving and valuing your customers. Take ownership of your errors instead of passing the blame. We trusted you, and your handling of this situation is shocking and inexcusable.
Great product, slight hiccup but overall great service – The initial planning went smoothly, with fast installation. The application for our meter replacement (to smart meter) was incorrect and has taken over two months to rectify. Neil was very apologetic about the situation and was willing to resolve the issue to both of our satisfaction. Would recommend this company again, but would advise to start the application with synergy prior to installation - we were unaware of this requirement.
