Brilliant Service / Quick Process
Each & every time PIA has processed our claim very quickly, within days and refunds in our bank account in under a week. Cannot ask for better service or insurance cover.
I've been with PIA for 4 years and they are always great to deal with. They always paid on time and never caused me any issues. I highly recommend them.
Quick and painless
The claims process is pretty straightforward, it’s all online, as long as you have all the information to attach then the process is quick, you will need the vet history included not just the receipts, but once I had submitted the claim, it was reviewed and paid within 4 working days.

Worst Pet insurance company! DO NOT GO WITH THEM
We been with Pet Insurance Australia for over a year. We are on our second year and paying for 2 dogs. We were told over the phone we could cancel at any time as that’s how we signed up with them. We made a claim this year for one of our dogs as he had surgery. Paid 1150 for our surgery and got 600 back from PIA. Our plan is suppose to cover 80% with $100 excess. Even though it was the one surgery where they cut out 3 lumps, they charged $300 excess because they are different types of lumps. We did not complain about this, we just thought that ...for what we pay is not worth what we get back so we requested to cancel. They stated if we were to cancel we would have to pay the entire claim back to them, or pay until the end of the year and not be covered during this time. How does that even make sense? They said we are in a 12 month contract but yet was told that we can cancel at anytime. We been with them for over 12 months But yet we are still required to pay another 12 month Period but not be covered. I never write reviews, but I am so disappointed in PIA and hope to help someone make a informed decision before deciding to go with them. I highly recommend to either go with someone else, or do up a savings account for your pet/s unless your pet is a high risk pet, I would do some research on other pet insurances and stay AWAY from this one.
Very happy with the value
We hoped we wouldn’t ever use it but our lab puppy had eaten a mince pie that someone had dropped on the floor and which he’d scooped up in a millisecond. Lucky for us the incident revealed he also had a liver infection, which wasn’t obvious as he was his usual spunky and hungry self. We would have been thousands of dollars out of pocket without the insurance. The hospital lodged the claim for us which was a relief at the time but when we went to lodge the second claim the process online was straightforward anyway. We had not had a dog before a...nd only been with PIA for about a year and weren’t sure whether insurance was really needed- but we’re grateful that we had it. It’s good value and with monthly deductions it’s affordable for us. Hopefully we won’t need to claim again.

PIA came through when we needed it!
We have had PIA Comprehensive pet insurance for a couple years. Our four year old Bulldog had to have surgery for an adenocarcinoma in her upper chest, which added up to ~$1500.
We placed a claim with PIA, which was a relatively painless online process (only made complicated due to COVID-19 situation making them unreachable by phone, but that's no fault of theirs really), they engaged the treating vet and took care of the rest. A week later, we got just over $1000 back (80% back minus excess/deductable) deposited into our nominated bank account.
Very happy with PIA's customer service and would recommend to anyone.

After finding out our puppy needed operations on both of her elbows we were very stressed about how much it was all going to cost. Luckily we were with PIA and they covered 80% of the costs. Thank you PIA!
Really Impressed - Not only once - But twice!
We have had two pets covered under Pet Insurance Australia, and both times my claims experience (which is actually what's important!) was brilliant. We claimed for a major operation for our dog, and also for the emergency treatment for our puppy who ate a bone.
Id unreservedly recommend these guys as incredible - the claims process takes 2-4 weeks for resolution, but easily able to say i have been unexpectedly pleasantly surprised. also - being able to buy online and claim online etc is a plus.
What an easy claiming procedure. Just follow the laid down steps and if you satisfy your coverage requirements then the claiming procedure is a quick with no fuss. Extremely happy.

We had our fair share of health issues with our pup and they came through every time, except for pre-exisiting, so I would suggest when you buy a pup, you buy pet insurance from the beginning.
The claim process can be done online and also lodged through your vet.
It generally takes a couple of weeks to receive payment. You can choose how much cover you want and adjust the premium accordingly.

Been very happy with their customer service and claims process is so easy and simple. I dont have to do anything! My poor girl has had a couple operations and PIA has been there to help with anything needed.
Bit of a drama to claim and insurance premium skyrocketed right after claim.
Claim process was messy. It was back and forth between insurance company who not only messed us about at a very stressful time, but also messed the emergency hospital about on the phone (after insurers asked the emergency department to call them to supply information).
Once it was all approved, our premium was increased by 43%.
The most reliable and effective insurance policy I've ever held.
I can't speak highly enough of PIA. They are quick to pay on claims, have a great policy that covers so much, online portal is simple and effective, customer service is great. I'm typically skeptical of insurance, but PIA is 100% reliable.
They also provided some flexibility and waived some policy fees for me as a loyal customer with 2 x policies during the COVID-19 outbreak, major credit for that and a great way to build loyalty.
My dog Pepita was injured in a car accident and as well as nearly dying she almost lost her hind leg. Thanks to teh cover with PIA we were able to not only save her life but manage to salvage the use of her leg. If we didn't have the cover we would have not been able to give her teh second chance she has!

If you choose a GapOnly vet you only need to pay the gap and the vet will do the rest (for a list of vets close to you take a look at www.gaponly.com.au). However, you can choose any registered vet in Australia, and then claim for the reimbursement via the pet portal on our website. Hi Felicity, we certainly do cover for these conditions in the illness section of your policy, as long as there are no prior symptoms to taking out the policy. The cover for these conditions will be subjected to caps and limits.
All of our claims are looked at on an individual basis, however, if a condition has shown signs or symptoms prior to coverage, than it may be excluded as a pre-existing condition. A pre-existing condition may be reviewed 18 months after the policy has been kept and may possibly covered, provided it has shown no signs or symptoms within this time.
After this timeframe if you wish to have the condition reviewed we do have a Pre-existing Condition review form further information can be found in our Product Disclosure Statement on page 25 under “Pre-Existing condition review”. Is there any waiting period for routine care cover? I have 3months old pup and thinking to get De-sexing when he is about 6 months old. If I apply now, can it be covered? (Also final pup vaccination is scheduled in 2 weeks time)
