Dog Training Course
We signed up to the Petbarn beginner dog training school for our puppy Leo.
Leo attended the first classes with basic commands such as sit, wait, stay, lie down etc. he responds really well to treats and is also great at recall when at the dog park.
The information presented in the class was very informative and helpful. We found the class was not suitable for our playful and energetic dog.
The class is held in the middle of Petbarn in a small caged off area with 4 other dogs. Already there are many different smells in the store due to dog...
Read more food etc, plus shoppers were constantly walking around with their dogs, some coming up to the gate at times. The class started with dogs being expected to sit on a mat for 20 minutes whilst the trainer talked. Dogs were never allowed to interact with each other, not even before or after the class. Which was hard for our puppy as he loves every other dog and human and loves saying hi. As Leo is also very energetic (due to his groodle breed) it was an unrealistic expectation to keep him on this mat for 20 minutes. This expectation was stressful for us as we believe is was unrealistic for our dogs temperament and were continually reminded to get Leo to sit still.2 comments

Product insufficient
The Dog/ puppy bark collar Citronella spray only sporadically works. Does not spray every time the dog barks. Very unhappy with this item. I would not recommend the citronella spray.

I live in the inner west and have been shopping at your Rozelle store since the day it opened. You had a red haired girl Named [name removed] working there who has now left for your Hoxton Park store. Since she has moved, the customer service in the store is practically non-existant. She was there for me to talk to when i had to put my cat of 17 years down, even went out of her way to purchase flowers, chocolates and a card. Bring her back to rozelle. Ignored when quiet and trying to buy Aquarium fish
I have bought aquarium equipment at PetBarn before to set up 2 small tanks which was fine as I knew what to buy. I then attended a different PetBarn store as it was more convenient to buy the fish. First time staff were busy at counter purchases, that’s understandable, so I looked at the fish. When it was then quiet the salesperson still remained at the counter and I was ignored. PetBarn in store Self, coin operated, dog wash!
PetBarn in store Self (coin operated) dog wash, is NOT suitable for all, I would say, most dogs! Ever since I started taking my pet dog there, his fur sheds like mad, more than 50% then usual, even for this time of the year (summer) and yet, the in-store staff denies it and does not accept any responsibility what's so ever! I have even brought this to the attention of Store management and head office as well, got crap all from them!!!

Not the best customer service.
I was happy with how my dogs looked after their grooming however I couldnt say the same for the customer service side of things. There was a little confusion as to what I wanted done as the terminology used my the staff was different to what was on the website. The time that was mentioned to me when they would be done was given to me incorrect and no appology was given. It was also delt with unprofessional as it was done right in front of me to one of the other staff that made the mistake. I also don't appreciate my dog being spoken about as "t...

Up one entering the store- disheartened with customer service
I attended the KOGARAH store yesterday. Upon arrival there is a sign stating that all animals entering the store must be on a leash, which is correct. I entered the store with my three month old dog to find a huge dog roaming the store with no leash who ran towards me and my dog. I notified the employee that my dog was scared and questioned why the huge dog was not restrained. The employee replied this is how it is. I stated that obviously due to this, I cannot enter the store to buy the products I needed and he really did not care whatsoever. No customer service skills, he was very rude and arrogant. Obviously will not be returning to this store ever again.

puppy school
Puppy school has been well conducted and informative. My puppy in the first week was timid, and at the second class very outgoing. Wonderful for I want to socialise my puppy. However I am very reclusive and do not wish to be placed in front of the group to demonstrate the training which I may or have not done with my puppy. I believe that all of these trainings are not quite so personal at my local vet where people can interact in groups rather than individuals.... possibly because of a larger space available. I will continue to attend for the last two weeks of the programme but will not participate in personal demonstrations unless I feel comfortable. Courteous Employee, Impossible Job...
It was the first week of the month and my first visit to a Pet Barn store. I needed a particular brand of pet food urgently. I had browsed the online store the night before and saw several 'on line only' deals but I like to support local so in I went.
I thought I'd join PetBarn and buy several $40 food packs. I signed up at the check-out and, when the courteous young man handed me my PetBarn card, he said "Next month you can get 10% off purchases..."
Next month? Next month was more than three weeks away and I needed pet food now. "Sorry...

Since contacting Petbarn we have recieved an apology and refund for the class. Petbarn have been helpful in resolving this issue.
