Air Fryers Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of air fryer would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Great product though a little small for accessories
I admit I purchased the Philips Turbostar last year but only started using it regularly in the last 6 months. I had used it a few times to cook chips but wasn't really sure what else I could use it for.
The machine came with no instructions and no recipe book. Recently I joined a few facebook groups and I recommend anyone wanting to purchase an airfryer do this also. There are so many tips and recipes on these pages - it really gives you the confidence to try many different things.
I purchased this product from Good Guys eBay store and it came with a free grill plate. I have not really used this very much as I am finding the basket suits my needs at the moment. My main problem with this model is that it is so small that I have found it near impossible to find cooking tins that will fit in it. The shape of the basket makes this a problem also. Unfortunately due to sheer frustration I ended up purchasing the philips baking tin which is hugely overpriced. Luckily I had a discount voucher for a tv shopping network and managed to pick it up for just under half price. Please be aware of this when choosing your airfryer!
I find the turbostar relatively easy to clean - apparently it can be cleaned in the dishwasher but I prefer to wash by hand. I also do not cook anything that splatters much so that helps with keeping it clean.
I would recommend purchasing a Philips airfryer do to the quality and ease of use - but just be aware if purchasing this that the size may be an issue and the lack of instructions can be frustrating. For this I have taken off one star.
Changed My Life!
We use the airfryer most days, barely use the oven now.
Makes the best roast pork.
Hot chips - quick and easy
Pita Bread Pizza's in 6 minutes.
Reasonable easy to clean but super easy to use.
Must have appliance
Something we always postponed buying as we thought it was not a need. Had been so handy since day one. For day to quick meals this has turned out to be a hit- convenient and cheaper to use as an alternate to an electric oven. We are buying the second one for our daughter and son in law.
Terrific product we can't do without
This is a great product. Robust build and easy to use. Cleaning is simple and it's easy to keep clean. Fits well on the kitchen bench which helps our frequency of use. There are so many things you can cook with this unit, chips, pies, veggies and meat. Being able to stop start is great for multiple items needing various cook time. Overall a great product and a must have for the kitchen if you want fast clean low energy cost cooking
I use this mainly for making chips and spring rolls. I owned a tefal air fryer previously and both have their pros and cons. I liked how the tefal stirred the chips whereas as the Phillips one you have to shake the tray half way through.
Having said that I prefer the temperature control you have with the Philips, something that was missing with the tefal. It is also quicker in cooking food than the tefal and a more compact design.
Overall I prefer the Philips as it could be used to cook many different things. It makes good chips and spring rolls
This air fryer makes crispy chips and cooks food well with little oil. The basket style means you can use it for lots of types of food.
I like that it cooks things quickly. You can adjust the temperature too which is handy. It's fast and cooks things evenly as long as you five chips a shake half way through.
It's easy to clean and reassembly is simple.
Excellent for one
I only have myself to look after, and have found the air-fryer one of my best buys.
It is excellent for what I cook or heat, as it is:
so much faster to cook with than a conventional oven,
low cost to use,
does not heat the house like an oven does,
and easy to clean.
I use it several times a week in the cooler months.
It has the added benefit of healthy cooking, and its size is sufficient for one person.
Definitely recommended, and I will buy again if I wear it out.
So I bought this Airfryer for a purpose of reusing the oven since my Aunt won't let me use it and now I have this Air Fryers I can cook too many food like
Homemade Marinated chicken
and use pork
So I recommended that people can use it as I can
as It was saving the gas to electric as cheap
it was faster than oven/pan
and it worth the price

We love our Philips air fryer and use it most days. Fabulous for just the two of us. No need to use the large oven anymore for small quantities. Air fryer is super easy to use, clean and very economical to run......highly recommend and nothing negative to say.
Excellent quality airfryer
Recently bought Philips airfryer to reduce our oil intake and for healthy cooking.
Was little skeptical regarding food quality of air fried food over conventional cooking methods but surprised with quality.
Its simple to use with no fuss and excellent food quality.
Price may be bit higher as compared to other brands but can get this product at discounted price with different offers.
Would recommend this product because of its build quality, simple usage and excellent cooking.
Never had an amazing Electrical product before
Life is much easier with this air fryer. Even stopped using oven for grilling and reheating, as the use of Philips Air fryer makes the food freshly cooked again. Can't expect to have anything better than this.
Used daily and hasn't skipped a beat
Researched before replacing our previous for months, this brand has proven a good investment of time and money.
Speedy way to cook foods, especially packaged foods.
Potato gems take about 16 minutes from start to finish - compared with 30-45 in the oven.
Easy to remove basket and casing for cleaning
The only improvement Phillips could make is to invent a coating that is easier to clean.
Being a teflon type coating, we don't like to scrub too hard, but some build up is proving tough to get rid of.
It is dishwasher safe which is brilliant.
The basket base can be removed for a more thorough clean.
Our last airfryer didn't have this option and it's been a welcome addition.
Pretty damn good!
I have had the product for approx 6 months. I don’t know how I managed to make quick meals on the go that is still reasonable healthy before this purchase. As a mum on the run with two kids the has been a life saver. Only down fall is it’s a pain to clean.
Philips was my first air fryer. If you like fried food you will enjoy food cooked in the air fryer ... a better healthier option. I can enjoy my favourite food without feeling guilty. Fish, chips, pies, roast veggies, chicken, cakes the list is endless.
This is the Best Buy for your buck. You can cook frozen items as well as vegetables in minutes. It’s a part of every day cooking for me. Just amazing!

Healthy Cooking with this Air fryer
I was advised by my colleague to buy this air fryer and I am happy enough I did. It lessens the guilt of eating fried and fatty foods and takes out the mess of oil in a deep fry fan. Just be sure to buy the XXL if your aiming for family used. The only downside is that you need to purchase the griller separately.
I originally wanted to try a Kmart cheapie air fryer but they were constantly out of stock so invested in the Phillips instead. It didn’t disappoint. It’s great quality...sturdy, easy to clean and large enough to cook decent amounts in. My only disappointment was the one time I tried to cook a pork belly in it...the smoke that poured out was so bad I had to open every door and window! I won’t be doing that again which is a shame as cooking pork belly was one of the main reasons I wanted an air fryer in the first place. This is a great air fryer that gets used fairly regularly in my kitchen.
Worth Buying it
Minimum Use of OIl and it will help us to make more fried products for our kids.It is a healthier option and it will help us to reduce spending on the fast food chains
Best purchase this year
this is one if the best air fryer we use this everyday and can easily for french fries, fish and chicken nuggets. i highly recommend this product if you area healthy person
Loving this Air Fryer
I researched air fryers for so long I felt as though it consumed my life!! I went to Myers as they had $100 off which was amazing. So the Phillips XXL now sits proudly on my bench top being utilised by my family of 5. Yes all the males finally know how to cook - now that’s money well spent. I love the way you can multi cook 2 different foods at the same time utilising the grilling tray. Chips on the bottom Kiev above. I purchased the cake dish as well but returned that as it was very small and I just use a normal baking dish to make cakes or mac cheese. It’s so easy to clean, never seen it smoking (I have read so many reports of air fryers doing this). I’m just loving my air fryer and despite the higher price tag, it’s well worth it, cooks amazingly, very easy to use. It crisps all the food perfectly and accommodates my grown up family of 5 - just loving it!!
Purchased in January 2019 at Myers .
