Some real people but lots of fakes
Just so many scammers and fakes and what I think are probably lonely kids who just fool around on this site. The good looking men and women are almost certainly fake profiles. Some are money scammers, some are just catfish, using the site for entertainment.
Not all men are bad
Met an amazing guy on here and we are still together.
I also met my ex online and he's nothing but a con artist and personally think that all women should be aware of people like this.
They will lie and leave you in financial hardship to get what they want. Becareful who sweeps you off your feet, if it's too good to be true then he probably is and there's a lot of them on POF.
Joining is free as are all off these single sites. When it actuall comes to meeting someone you have to pay. I have 10+ interested in me, i have to upgrade/join by payment. So nothing is free.
About what you expect for a mostly free site.
Well the good news is that it is basically a free site. (You can Upgrade, but it is still functional without.)
The bad news is that it is basically a free site.
It is loaded with scammers and liars, and the admin refuse to take action, no matter how blatant.
Of those that aren't outright scammers, most of the women are just time wasters playing games.
Of the few genuine women, they get inundated with male scammers and time-wasters, so they are loath to communicate with anyone.
Their matching feature is just absurd, really does nothing. They ...even have something called an "Ultra Match" which does not even match on basic criteria. Perhaps the most annoying feature is the "meet me" which encourages people to select "Yes", "No", or "Maybe", based on nothing more than a photo, age, and location. You can't see who ticked yes unless you are upgraded, which most aren't. Everyone knows this, yet still use this feature. Worst of all, even if you tick "Maybe" they get added PERMANENTLY to your list of "Likes", which cannot be edited nor deleted.
Some nice girls. But!!
I've tried this site for a while now and have chatted to and on occasion met some lovely girls.
There are so so many fake female profiles.
The About me descriptions - almost verbatim on some.
Meet me - from girls which can only be generated by the POF system.
Meet me - from USA, Russia, Asia - seriously!!
The absolute tossers (yes that's some of us fellas) who ask for bed activity, bed activity preferences nudes pics or send manhood pics ruin it for the genuine ones. No wonder most girls (the majority) won't even reply to even a polite message.
POF seem to sit by and not police all this, happy to take users money and turn a blind eye.
Nonsense tv ad
The ad on tv says you don’t have to pay anything,,, when I first joined I did pay for 3 months,,, not a lot happened but I persisted for the 3 months, I decided to give it a rest for a week or two then started to search again,, in the meantime my subscription ran out,,, currently I have 8 meet me’s and I can’t see them unless I pay to rejoin,,,,, REALLY,,,, is that how it works,, The ad is a joke,,,,,, don’t play with people’s feelings,,
the ONLY good thing i have to say is at least its free to send messages, other than that...complete garbage, fake profile views, fake mutual matches and fake messages on top of all the scammers...NEVER, EVER PAY TO UPGRADE, only use the standard free account because its all you need to reply to the rare genuine message you'll receive.
Poor Online Forum !!
Despite the odd occurrence of 1 or 2 people I know having a successful experience with online dating, it most definitely from my experience, is not the majority. What is more common is inactive members leaving their profile online, members having no interest in interacting beyond their device or phantom profiles wasting the time of every legitimate member who falls for them. Not impressed POF!
Site crashes regularly
This site crashes regularly, you have nude women posted on your search, or liked you ' I think it's dodgy.
Looks like most women are actually escorts or looking for FWBs and offering services for money.
Been there for some time and as others mentioned, I'm too a reasonable looking man in early 40s but so far not a single positive outcome not even a date. Even I courted less attractive ladies with same outcome, either no response or rejection. So either these women are fake, have vision problems or are here for fun and wasting time. Or possibly gold-diggers which I wouldn't be surprised. I found actually several women here looking for ''relationship'' but on other sites looking for sugar daddies and offering escort services.
So guys save your time and hit the clubs instead of wasting your energy on online dating sites.
Not a bad site but problem with nude pics and fake profiles.
Site is not very practical but you get lots of free features like chat and email preferences. But be mindful from scammers posting as attractive women who want your email.
You get good choices of women but you'll find bad seeds here too who troll all dating sites in order to get their kicks out of insulting men who contact them or make a harmless joke. People are indeed losing it.
App is Crapp
This app is crapp! Lots of scammers & people that say they want to meet but never do.
I'd go as far as saying alot players & liars as well married men on here. I never met one person on here & I deleted the pof app! :)
PS Alot of them don't even have photos of themselves.
So many topless photos of men!
Continually come across topless & sometimes nude pictures of men even though there is a reporting system. Got many matches outside the radius I entered. Many men just straight up looking to grab a shag. Got more 'matches' when upgraded.? Scam for an advertised 'free' dating app!
Plenty of attempts to get you to renew...
I paid for a year, and fortunately made sure I unticked the auto-renew box..I received sporadic messages "Someone wants to meet you", sent emails and never got a response. Now that my paid membership is expired, I get these messages daily, but surprise, surprise, you can't contact that "person" without upgrading. Just another rip-off scam...
Account deactivated with no explanation
I have had my account deleted on many occasions. The only gripe is no reasoning or feedback is given and unable to contact the site fr any feedback. Just start to getting to know someone, then the account dissappears. Also of late i have received emails from ladies who straight up put there email and never respond on the site, or half naked woman who have easyminge.com at the bottom of their profile. Surely this is picked up when profiles are reviewed.
I am confused and frustrated
I was on this site a few years ago and suddenly my profile was gone and I couldn't even log in.....Two weeks ago I created a new account and it was accepted and the first day I got to send flirts and messages with a basic membership to which there was response. As of Day 2 no one has viewed my profile, not even to check out the flirts to see if they wish to respond which is highly unusual, I am not a bad looking woman either. I can't even post on the forums. There virtually has been no activity for me, I sent several flirts just to test this out and it doesn't even show that I sent the majority of them. I emailed their customer service and no one has responded. I am perplexed. Has this happened to anyone else?
All okay until I 'met' a local man online. ( Brisbane)
The greatest load of rubbish was forth coming.
I contacted PoF to tell them this person was a scammer but his face is still there.
Our last correspondence had him professing undying love for me and that he was heading into an Amazon rain forest on a business deal.
I kept it going for a while, waiting for the" please help with $$" letter, but couldn't be bothered to continue.
PoF persists in sending me details of men who couldn't be further from my requirements.
Interstate, too young, too short- the list goes on.
Extortion, blackmail and more.
Early on I could answer an upgraded do you want to meet him profile, now, I get a message to say I must upgrade in order to contact the person. This is extortion, blackmail, manipulation and other words I prefer not to use. The fact is these men sent through on that section of pof do not know they have been sent through, this I found out very early when they sent through someone who, would never have contacted me and he told me what they do. SHAME SHAME SHAME on you POF...men who may be genuine don't get an answer on this section because I for one don't wish to make a fool of myself. Lorinoties
To many scammers
I have been approached by 3 girls with in 4 weeks of joining. All of them turned out to be pathetic scammers. Giving you false hopes then asking for money. I no longer trust pof
Could not find a way to advise of a scammer using this site supposedly from the UK. He tells woman hes fighting an inheritance but it needs to be sent to someone in another country, then continues to have costs to have it released and offers woman a percentage if they help. But asks for financial help to get it but this is all fake. Beware ladies.
Questions & Answers
What does it mean when other persons profile pic disappears off private messages and their profile but u can still read their profile and messages. On profile it states they have private pics and to see them send them a message? Does it mean they have blocked you or maybe hidden their profile??
Can't really say. Possibly they're either really good looking, and so get bombarded with hits OR (more likely) they're really horrible-looking and are just hoping for a catch. Also look out for fakes - the worst are from the USA - either their location will be either a U.S. town or something like 'City' and then the name of a capital city in Australia. Just delete them
How do you unmatch a member on POF without blocking them? Google says this is the only way, but I’ve been unmatched and not blocked by someone.
Just ignore or delete they will get the message don't read any other messages from them in case they are abusive
Someone blocked me, can they still view me?
