Be ware of this company - charges through the roof.
Very disappointed with the cost of their service - will never use them again. They charge an arm and a leg, $450 for a 30 minute diagnostics of a Rheem hot water system issue and still expected to pay upwards on $1,900+ dollars for a thermostat replacement. Big joke...
The service guy that came out was nice and professional but the company charged you through the roof. Be ware of this company.
I'm still cut up that I had to pay $450 to them to do a diagnostic check - this is unacceptable and I'll be contacting fair trading NSW to see if I can recoup some of this extraordinary charge.
Extremely over priced!
I would be very careful in dealing with this company. Quotes over $4000 for the replacement of a hot water system that I got replaced for $1300. Representative was extremely rude and pushy when I informed him I wanted to get another quote.
I would only recommend this service if you are willing to spend a huge amount of money. Yesterday we were quoted nearly $7000 for a plumbing job in our bathroom. We decided to shop around and had the job completed for less than $2000 and the plumber who was recommended to us did a great job. The plumber from Plumbcorp was also quite rude and extremely pushy. Even when we told the plumber that we would prefer to shop around - he was still trying to convince us to sign up to a payment plan.
I definitely would not recommend this service - there are plenty of other plumbers out there that will do a great job for a decent price. In fact, the plumber we had today did a much better job than the one we had yesterday from Plumbcorp.
My experience of Plumbcorp
My gas/solar hot water system stopped working. I called Plumbcorp PC plumbing. They sent a plumber. He told me that my hot water system needed replacing and provided an immediate quote of almost $3500 for replacement of the gas water heater.
I arranged for a plumber from another company to come the next day. He identified a faulty solenoid and fixed the problem, charging me $500 for the job. Lesson reinforced - always get more than one quote.
Beyond a pensioner's affordability.
Exorbitant pricing & what I now realize, a tap for a left hander was fitted although I'm a right handed person. Polite & efficient but when I said that I couldn't afford the initial quote, was asked "what CAN you pay?"
$1,000 to fix a blocked toilet. Wife working from home and it's an essential amenity. No choice to accept an exorbitant call out but it didn't end there. She was then told the toilet would have to be removed and reinstalled to fix problem. We were being stitched up to the tune of $1,700 to fix a simple blockage made into a drama by the tradie. Keep in mind you have to pay for the first quotation before any work can be done. Then that's when the added costs come. We kicked up a fuss and Low and Behold the toilet didn't have to be removed at all. Should have the checked the reviews first. Very disappointing carry on in an already turbulent time we live in!!! Also still wasn't fixed when they left!!
Smith's Plumbing: Arrived 7 hours late, wanted to charge $1,200 to change a shower head, No breakdown of costs.
AVOID Smith's Plumbing Sydney.
I booked online at "Smith's Plumbing" website - spoke to [Name Removed] over the phone, who booked a Sydney plumber to arrive at 8:30am the next day.
Received no communication of him running late. I had to call Smith's Plumbing to find out what's going on with the lateness. I was told to wait until 11am.
Still no arrival, and no communication at 11:20am.
The plumber shows up around 4pm.
I needed a shower head changed.
He uses his phone to punch in some details, then shows me the screen which lists various item descriptions (eg. Removal of existing shower head, install new shower head).
Pressured to sign by plumber with ipad
Followed us around while discussing what to do. We said no too expensive, we'll leave it. He gave discount, said shouldn't leave it piped too damaged and the they are cheapest for this much work. Went through extent of work. Signed contract on iPad...offered easy finance. I asked if cooling off period he said no. Discount only applies for today. Then contract later did not reflect discussion nor did work done. Should have been suspicious and gotten other opinion
We had 50L RHEEM hot water tank leak (from top) and booked for a plumber to come in the following day. It's not an emergency call. Dan's Plumbing supplied and installed new 50L RHEEM hot water system including drain tank, brass fittings, duo non return isolation valve, copper pipe work, clean up etc. They waived cost to look and fix our washing machine stop valve (some leaks when we tweak cold and hot water supply) however total cost for this engagement amounted to $5.3K inclusive of GST (even though call out fee of ~$36 is waived since we proc...eeded with the quote provided). Work completed in ~4 hours. In hindsight, should have listened to gut feel. We were shown the quote quickly on the mobile device and asked to sign. We shouldn't have proceeded with the quote, pay the call out fee and get a second or third quotation from other plumbers. Alternatively, to contact RHEEM and check if our tank is still on warranty. Dan's Plumbing or PlumbCorp Services didn't check and advise on our tank's warranty info. We were asked to pay 10% deposit prior to work commencement and I didn't realise till later they charged 1.6% surcharge fees and this extra fees are not noted down on invoice. We didn’t feel at ease and contacted a few people to chat and was advised the cost is exorbitant. Other people we contacted got their hot water tank of 2400L replaced at a price of $2.6K, another person got her 125L RHEEM hot water system replaced and their total cost amounted to $1.6K in Sydney in early 2020. Few other concerns noted, the pipe into the wall was not connected with the reason that it wouldn’t work. A separate pipe was installed so water from the tank flows into our drain. This morning (following day) we checked and noticed water leaking from 2 areas of the pipes installed. After research, we found this: https://9now.nine.com.au/a-current-affair/rogue-plumber-jason-aboukalams-tradie-licence-cancelled-by-nsw-fair-trading/8be9d068-c1a7-4b34-a7ff-0d14ac7b2a2e PS: please check your hot water tank if it's covered by warranty prior to engaging a plumber! Even better, call the hot water tank's supplier/manufacturer like RHEEM (brand).
Rip off, be warned
I just needed a small toilet repair. Over $1000 later not realising that the work could have been completed for less than half the amount. My fault for not shopping around, don’t be another sucker. Fair work for fair pay but not ripping people off !
Plumber arrived on time. Consulted with HQ to diagnose. After talking on phone, came up with quote. Pressed me to sign go ahead and acted as if it was a given. Plumber did not appear to want to take ‘no’ for an answer. I am always unhappy to be pressed to have work done until I have had time to take other advice and consider my budget. He questioned my decision in a way that caused me to feel pressured to explain myself. This was unpleasant and not appropriate.
very expensive and pushy sales tactics getting you to sign on the spot
Pushed to accept a quote of 1k to jet blast and clear sewage pipe that I have since found out should have been $300-400. After job completed they then tried to get me to pay 12.5k to reline 1 meter of sewage pipe, even offering the job on finance. After speaking to a couple of other firms job can be done for a quarter of that. Be careful and ensure you get multiple quotes and don't be pressured to accepting cost on site.
Never, Never, Use Plumbcorp. They con you in with their fixed pricing. I had a leaking pipe under my footpath, I was quoted $5149. to repair. I was told, 2 men at least 2 days work, they would arrive at 7am next day to start. Seemed expensive but wanted to get the repair done.
Reality was only 1 plumber turned up, he was 1.5 hours late. I arrived on site at 12, to find the job mostly completed. So basically less than a days work with very little materials required. I guess the lesson here is check reviews carefully. This being their 41st one ...
Booked a call out to replace a check valve on a water heater. Plumber comes out on time very professional then proceeds to quote. I had to wait about 5 minutes for the quote which I thought was a bit long to work out a price for a new piece and labor. The guy then proceeds to give me a rundown on what supposedly needs to be done, new valve but because our valve is an old version and they dont make them anymore which is more expensive but better, but because it is a new one he needs to replace the pipes and so the cost would be $1150 including G...ST. I said that was more than we expected and after trying to justify this price he said he could give me a 15% discount bringing it down to $977.50 I said that this was still too expensive. I paid the $38.50 call fee and we got another plumber to come out. He quoted $165 in total including labor and GST to simply replace the valve with a new one. The new valve fitted the existing pipes and took all of about 10 minutes to replace. After reading another negative review it appears that they say that pipes need to replaced , when they dont, quite often. Either they over quote just so they can get paid for the call out fee or they simply incredibly overprice all their work. Would NEVER recommend for any plumbing work EVER
Expensive kitchen mixer
Don't waste your money like I did.
Was initially quoted $500 to install a new kitchen mixer which I supplied, but the price went up $800 to also replace 2 isolation valves.
Works OK but I realise now it was way too much for the work involved.
