Has saved my sanity over this endless hot summer.
We have this unit set up in our bedroom as it's the only room we can close off, the lounge room being way too open and you'd have to sit directly in front of the fans to gain relief, whereas in the bedroom the temperature drop is very noticeable.
It's been a little ripper and keeps the bedroom very comfortable indeed. My health is not the best and I cannot take the heat that our Brisbane summer has dished out this year. Over a month now without a decent break in hot weather. Both myself and our elderly dog, who also can't take the heat, have l...

Great & powerful unit
Ok, let's start by saying it's not very quiet as it's not a fan. The condenser unit is in-built to the portable aircon hence the noise. If you can't accept the noise, I think you need to get a split-system installed. However if you're like us and can bear the noise, this is a great unit. It's powerful enough for a 1-bed apartment living room (not very big space-wise) during those hot days. I would rather have the noise and than to bear the summer heat. It also comes with piping and window kit, which we wrapped in bubble-wrap for a better insulation against outside warm air. From memory, we only had to empty the water tank twice in the 5-year we have this unit.
Great air conditioner
I bought this model 2 years ago and i have had no trouble with it. It was so good i bought a second one. Now if it is hot i not longer care as i know it will cool the rooms quickly i place it in. As for the sound it is not really that bad and i would rather a bit of sound than sweat all night in a hot room. As far as im concerned if you want a good unit buy this one.

Surprisingly good
I was a bit dubious about how effective this would be, but was pleasantly surprised. It works quickly and effectively cools 2 large rooms. I put mine in a separate room if I'm watching tv but it's no noisier than the old box air-conditioners. Easy to put together but it is heavy.

best portable air con
One of the most expensive portable air cons but ultra reliable and very effective. I have used this throughout the summer and it has performed very well and I only emptied out a very small amount of condensation once. Awesome machine and I highly recommend it above all others that I looked at

PoloCool..Super cool indeed!!!!
Initially thought of buying 3.5 KW Unit, however was skeptical if that would suffice during the worst days of summer.
Opted for 6.0 KW unit as it had better cooling record under hotter conditions compared to the 3.5 KW unit.
Got the unit on Jan 10th when Melbourne temperature was pleasant.
Used the Air con on Monday 12th Jan when the temperature was 32 deg in a hall sized 4mX5m, it was able to drop it down to 23 degrees in an hours time.
That is pretty decent I guess, I will have to wait and watch when the temperature soars to 38 deg or 40 deg (that will be the real test for this unit).
As of now, I liked the powerful cooling unit and give full marks for its design and performance.

Great Air Conditioner
I bought mine about four years ago. The first one played up after 12 months, rattling and making a dreadful noise. It was exchanged under guarantee, and I have had the same one since. An extremely effective cooler in a large area, but I have found it quite heavy on power usage. However, it is the best and most powerful portable system available. Not too noisy, and the fan is powerful. Very heavy to move on carpet, but I am happy that I purchased this particular unit, and it is reliable and something I use all the time in summer.

Brilliant - Highly Recommend
Bought this as a temporary measure as our home was getting A/C installed during winter. The space we had was a large space comprising of lounge and dining area. This machine cooled the room to a lovely 20 degrees in a 39 degree heat wave and kept it cool. Was worth every single cent and very good on power usage. Now it is in the play room and just as good as the first day we bought him home. Very much a part of the family and will never get rid of it. Have highly recommended for people who don't have these units and need portable AC. Will not disappoint!!
Good aircon
Bought it second hand, had to replace an electric item, works continuously except if I put it on 25 degrees C, then the unit stops but the fan keeps going then starts up again after a few minutes. Also very little water runs out of the drain and we live in a very humid area, where other aircons fill buckets mine doesn't, anyone else having these cases?

Works very well
I've had this unit for almost two years now and it is still running great. Guests I have had over have commented that it works better than their wall-mounted ac. Definitely powerful, it cools a combined lounge/dining room with no trouble. It is noisy, but considering that it can be 35 outside and only 20 inside, I'm not complaining! I had a wall mounted ac at my previous house and found that my electricity bills were much higher than the ones I have now. I don't know if this can be solely due to the portable ac, but regardless, I haven't had any 'shock' electricity bills since owning this. My children did snap the window bracket in half, but I had that replaced at Harvey Norman.

PoloAwesome
Bought from Harvey Norman for my office that was essentially a tin shed. It cooled my office to 18 degrees while outside it was 40+ simple as that. I was hesitant to buy this model after reading the user review above, but luckily we haven't had any problem whatsoever and it does an amazing job. Downside is its a bit noisy when the compressor kicks in and its reasonably heavy (it does have wheels which work great but if you were moving up and down stairs forget about it). Upside, my office was approx. 60sqm and it had no trouble cooling it withi...
Read moren 30 mins to a cold temperature, it doesn't have a drip tray so no need to empty, the unit itself doesn't get hot, remote and timer works well. Also the guy at harvey norman said full replacement for 2 years e.g bring the unit in they replace for another, and also for around $150 you can extend that for another 3 years, just something to consider if you're worried about flushing your money down the toilet.Chillin'Southwest, VIC

Impressive!
I purchased the Polocool PC44 on the 13th January this year, the day before the four days over 40 celcius, we were expecting. I just knew I wouldn't cope and knew it was time to get a portable aircon(as I'm a renter). Well, it was the week from hell, as everybody in Victoria would know. A male friend came to install it for me, and used a window/door sealer also, to ensure my window was completely sealed. Blinds down, door closed, set at 22 celcius in a 3.5 by 4.5 loungeroom, and it worked like a dream! I had a room to go to where I could relax ...
Read moreand not stress about the dreadful heat..Every time I walked into the room I breathed a sigh of relief. It felt just beautiful. Polocool didn't miss a beat! It was put well and truly to the test in the worst possible temperatures! I give it 10/10! I hope my review may help others, who like me, was a bit overwhelmed by all the different brands, makes and models, and very mixed reviews. I was so confused! I heard about Polocool on my local radio station. I thought the ad sounded promising. And as it turns out, I was right! Polocool also comes with a two year replacement warranty (I took out a further 3 years for peace of mind). Now, I no longer spend my days worrying about the hot weather. What a relief! :)1 comment
I forgot to include in above review that the PC also comes in a 6.0kw for larger areas. Thankyou :)

Polocool 5.5kw Portable AirCon
Currently renting a 2 bedroom north facing, rooftop unit with poor insulation (sheet metal roof), one window. The living/dining/kitchen is open plan and is about 55sq.m. When it is 35degrees C. outside this unit runs all day to keep the room comfortable cool (not ice cool), alternatively the thermostat set to about 27deg C. will make the unit cut off to save money but keep the room a little warmer.
The unit is the most powerful unit I could find, after 1 month I have not had to empty the water yet
Paid $940 for the unit from Harvey Norman B...

Dramatically improve the efficiency of this Airconditioner by arranging a second window opening and duct that channels air directly from the window to the air intake side of the air conditioner. The ...
Read moreresulting airflow changes mean that the room is positively pressurised by the cold air coming out of the a/con, displacing hot air out of the room at the same time. Normal venting for this machine means that it pumps hot air out of a room and draws warm outside air in to the room through door seals or vents, then has to cool that as well.hi im not sure what this means would you be able to explain it in laymans terms, thank you so much :)
The basic problem with a one duct unit is that when it is turned on it tries to cool but lots of warm air comes in at the same time. Stand by the closed bedroom door and you will feel this warm air ...
Read moretrying to get in around the edges and mix into the room. Your air conditioner pumps hot waste air out of your window through the exit vent. The air going out through the window has to be replaced by air coming in from somewhere else. That replacement air must come inside the room via any open cracks, flyscreens, doors, windows, or wall or ceiling vents. The replacement air is hot outside air (35deg?) and will be warming the room all the time while the machine mixes a bit of cold air with it to make it 'cooler'. I have arranged to stop the leaks and only let this outside air come in directly to the machine through a 2nd duct, and not mix with the room air. Result is much cooler room. 35 deg day used to give 30deg room, now it can operate to less than 25 deg, a 10deg difference.Duncan67AU
An excellent Air Conditioner
I bought a Polocool 5.5KW model and I love it. When it's 34 degrees outside, the Polocool cools my 25 sq metre bedroom down to 23 degrees in a couple of minutes. I am sure that this Air Con could easily cool a much larger area with ease. I am extremely happy with it. It is a bit noisy, but that doesn't bother me because I could sleep through a train wreck! In fact I think the noise helps me sleep. Prices do vary considerably. I bought mine from Harvey Norman on Sale, and paid $799.00. You can buy this Air Con online for $899.00, which is still...
Read more good value, because this unit is clearly of very good quality, and the relief and comfort that it will provide you with, makes it worth every cent. Apart from cooling the air it also purifies the air. I have suffered from Hay Fever for over 20 years, and every morning I would wake up sneezing because of airborne dust. I don't sneeze in the mornings anymore, because the Polocool has filtered the air. For people who rent, this Air Con is perfect. Highly recommended.2 comments
Did you pay cash for this unit?

Features:
- There are three models: the PC-35AP/C, which cools rooms up to 20sqm, the PC-44BP/C, for rooms up to 30sqm, and the PC58AP/C, suitable for larger rooms up to 42 sqm.
- Comes with an included window kit, that suits all window types and sliding doors. It’s meant to make for easier installation, but you can also purchase a ceiling/wall exhaust if this is more practicable.
- According to Polocool, the water tank never needs to be emptied, even when a room is high in humidity. This may be helped in part by the built-in dehumidifier.
- Included timer allows for easy set-and-forget functionality.
Overall, reviewers appreciated that the Polocool PC AC models were quiet in operation, that they usually only had to be emptied out once at the end of summer, and perhaps most importantly of all – that they produce crisp, cold air that kept a room comfortable, no matter how high the barometer rose outside.
