Porsche 911 (2005-2015)

997.2 2010 Carrera with PDK and Chrono – Overall a great car - brilliant handling and traction, with adequate performance; also ride quality in suburbs is good. PDK is fantastic, and anticipates your every requirement (particularly in Sports mode) Driving (ie corners) requires different technic to other rear wheel drive cars due to front/rear weight distribution - late break into corner and accelerate at apex, otherwise it understeers (same technic as my Formula Vee, so it was easy to adapt to the 911)

Interior is A+ quality build - almost as good as my Merc S350 W221.

Negatives - road noise above 90kmh (particularly on country roads where the cheap councils use course aggregate) is bad; combination of performance tyres and poor sound damping inside/outside by Porsche, particularly around wheel arches. Also fuel tank is on the small side.

997.2 is much better than 997.1 and earlier models - no engine problems as with earlier models and the PDK + direct injection of the 997.2 is great improvement

997.2 is also better than 991 (newer model) which unfortunately has electric steering (not hydraulic like 997) plus the 991 sun roof is rubbish & it rattles (on 2 that I test drove before buying the 997.2)

Excellent – I've been blessed to own six 911 Posches so far in my lifetime. The Carrera S car ranks right up at the top with my favorite of the 911's. Pure elegance, speed. This car is so fun and enjoyable to drive that I make up excuses to go out just to drive it. Talk about feeling special! This car is Perfection personified. Beautiful lines, amazing handling because of the all wheel drive. The interior is beautiful with top quality leather and details. Love this car. The soft compound tires that I put on the car only lasted for eight to ten thousand miles.

Excellent – Don't regret by not buying one. It is much better to regret by buying one!!! Porsche 911 Carrera never brings you down. One and only look. Excellent paint work. It is a supercar you can drive everyday. Superb mechanical quality. Inexpensive service cost. Reasonable fuel consumption. Too expensive in Aussie! Addictive to drive.
