We went to the display in epping knowing exactly what we wanted, structural variations etc. Our sales consultant was quite helpful at the time but as we progressed to tender/contract stage we found that he lacked knowledge of what was actually possible or the cost involved ( he is no longer with PD). Our tender presenter and initial Customer Service Rep (CSR) were fantastic. Very helpful and knowledgable.
I have no complaints in regard to pricing, the sales rep at the display was quick to point out ALL non-standard items. These were well ex...plained in our future meetings at tender stage. The key is to be very certain of all the things you want. We were quite lucky that our land was already titled and ready to build on. From our initial visit to the display centre to site start was approx 3 months. This included all tender meetings, colour/electrical selections and final contract presentation. Once the northern office closed, we were allocated a new CSR. What a disaster she turned out to be! We are now on to our 3rd CSR who was allocated to us on 16/1/12. Still hasn't contacted us to even introduce herself yet! The only person from the PD office that contacts you on a regular basis is the one issuing invoices for stage completions (what a surprise). I took my complaints to a higher level with my CSR's manager. He called to ensure me that I would see a vast improvement from their end but alas, 3 weeks later and my new CSR still hasn't made contact. From site start in oct, things seemed to be progressing well. We reached lockup just prior to Christmas. I decided to get my own "independent inspector" to check some of my concerns. This is by far the greatest advice I can give anyone building with a volume builder. PD's so called "independent inspectors" are useless to say the least. We refused to pay lockup invoice until they fixed all problems that didn't meet Australian standards or contractual obligations. I have no hesitation in refusing to pay until they deliver what they agreed to in our contracts.
Are due to sign my contract now having second thoughts
Well Im shocked to read so many bad reviews, my son built with them 18 months ago the Davenport 29 and all went well and he was entirely happy, I am about to sign my contract in 2 weeks and now having second thoughts from all the reviews Im reading now....I have had massive issues with them regarding the final quotation from what their sales man says is included or gives you the extra cost for but he doesnt note it on file and then the pricing department try to charge for it again, They were also trying to charge me for retaining walls when my...block is almost flat, they had all my land requirements from day 1 but still miss read them and kept adding 1000s of dollars for items not required, lucky I read all their paperwork, Gosh Im not sure now if I should proceed to signing, Im building the regent 23
very nice presentation and sales consultant.
I had full trust and full of excitement because Porter Davis was recommended to me by a friend and relative who purchased house and lot with Porter Davis. I was full of excitement because I decided to get PD to build on my "coming" block of land even if I read the ad reviews online. I was excited to have a beautiful caesarstone benchtops and was planning to spend my retirement in victoria. I had full trust up until I was fooled at my tender day. I didnt notice quickly enough that I had signed a separate document that the price was only until De...c 31, 2011 instead of what we agreed on another page that the price with the payment of 1,500 dollars will secure me with the promotions (except the site costs) up until the April 30, 2012 when my lot will be ready to build. I contacted the person on the following business day but will not give me the change of dates instead ask that we discuss. I was so disappointed for Porter Davis will not change the date to what we verbally agreed and was written on my unsigned quotation form. due to this experience, I suggest if you ever build with PD, be very careful to look at the dates.Have your promotions signed for even there is a PD logo on that piece of paper, I was asked, "where did you get it? It is not signed document by PD, it is not recognized. My document I was talking about is PD floorplan that I was shocked to be asked "where did I get it?" even it had PD logo on it. I was told it was not signed so I had to pay for the tiles in the hallway even I was given this form that said I will get tiles. beautiful house displays, and upmarket kitchen liar. promotions is not honored. false advertisement.
Since commencing our new home in November 2008,our house frame went up very fast which concerned us as the slab was poured the day before.
We thought the builder knew best so we didn't respond, the roof tiles were put on the roof 6 days later, which made us ring an independant inspector. Shopping around we were recommended to MFFA Building Consultants. After the initial inspection, they brought to our attention numerous defects that we were unaware of which were of major concern to us.
We raised these concerns with our site supervisor and h...

In my opinion it depends who you get as a supervisor. I've had friends who built with PD as well, and they had a great outcome with them. I think I just happened to have a bad supervisor (which ended up mysteriously not at the company anymore after handover). You need to keep an eye on them and do frequent checks to your site. I documented a lot. I took photos of all the bad things to make sure I had proof that PD did it and it needed fixing. Make sure you check the plan and that it appears in the house.
Good floor plan. We had some good free u...

they make many mistakes you need to be on the ball still have many things not yet fixed but they keep saying they will hapen , my house has been at lock uo for 4 weeks & a window has been missing for 5 - 6 weeks windows put in wrong place and many things we were not ...
Hi all, have been reading through the reviews that have been posted on Porter Davis and the I must say, the mixture of experiences people have had is quite surprising.
My partner and I are in the middle of building the Queenstown 30 in Doreen (by Porter Davis). Our house is on a nice hill and sits perfectly on our block. The slab was poured back on 27 July 2010 and we have just reached lock-up stage this week. Hopefully we'll be in our new home by Xmas :) we have had a few hiccups along the way with the build (with a few arguments about...damaged materials being replaced etc) but all has been worked out and overall we are very wrapped with the progress of how the house is coming along. Does anyone out there (Newstead at Doreen) or some of the others building that I have read along the way (who have also requested details) have the name or phone number of the Chinese Window Shutter couple that Newstead used. Newstead's summary of house and furniture items was fantastic and very helpful in helping us on who to try and who to avoid when completing our home. This is our 4th time building, second with Porter Davis but any information you can get is always helpful. First Admin Assistant at North PD - was awsome, she has left now but was a pleasure to deal with alway returned calls, emails promptly and was extremely helpful. Have kept the job moving - every weeks something has been completed. Second Admin assistant at North PD - is useless, she does not return calls and does not seem to really care, big disappointment after the first, luckily now we can deal with the Supervisor who is great.
ok...well we paid our $1000 deposit. We stressed that we wanted to do site prep ourselves..they said no probs..pay up deposit and lock in price. we can deal with that later.
Since then we have been advised of all appointment dates..Tender/ Tiles/ interior/ contract etc. and soil test. I asked again at this stage what do we need to do to site prep, and was it a good idea to siol test if i still have to do a cut. they again said it is ok we will deal with everything at tender.
Tender is in a week from now. and again i ask them about site prep....
I suppose all volume builders are the same, check everything and dont pay until complete & right!!! Take picture of everything for evidence! Not happy for quality of work in their so called "prestige range", what a joke that is.
Designs are flexible, admin staff good to deal with
Building supervisor never received one call and is arrogant, not one straight wall in the house, bricklayers cant lay bricks straight, poor workmanship
Now that my contract is signed, I am told I can't upgrade the carpet - even thought it won't be laid for 4 months! This is just lazy! I am very worried about the quality after reading so many reviews, but I will hold my judgement until I experience anything bad myself.
Good house designs. Staff start out friendly (because they want your money!).
I agree with everyone else. The communication is pretty bad. Why say that the Supervisor will call, when clearly (like most people on here have experienced) he just isn't going to! A simple call is all it requires to put CUSTOMERS minds at ease. PD don't seem to care that $350k is a big uinvestment for most people and that we need some tender care!

Questions & Answers
I am currently building the wardolf grange 44 and would like to create the kitchen as per your display home in Tullamore NSW wardolf grange 49. We want the dark grain cubboards under stone bench with no handles and cubboards at back of bench.
Do you know if this type cubboard is standard or upgrade?
Also how much will it cost add cubboards on back stone Island as per display
Can you please give as displayed price of Waldorf Altona
Tullamore and Altona please
I have chosen liverpool25 plan for my new home and was still working on whether to go with ferndale facade shown on Kew 27 or kingfisher facade. The sales consultant 2 weeks back that I had talked with was not sure about the exterior colours and the bricks used and now it’s lockdown. Would please share is it white or light grey paint on the facade so I can make up my mind and be pre prepared with everything once lockdown is uplifted and waste no further time to start my build please.
Hi Neha, I know it is very difficult to choose facade colour. Our house is Waldorf Grange with Chateau facade. We chose the safe colur used for display house. One advice I can give is to choose new home inspection company to check before handover. The report from our report shows there are more than 80 places required to be fixed. Good luck with your new house.
