Excellent
I have been using this product for many years at different properties. I have enjoyed nothing but success. Many of the negative reviews relate to people not understanding the product. This works as well as kreepy krawley and is based on the same design. As with any auto vac cleaner there will be some fine tuning. This applies to issues such as getting caught on steps or corners. This is rectified by properly placing weights on the house at varying positions within one meter from where the hose meets the cleaner.the other mistake people make i...
Read mores thinking they can drop these things in the pool and away they go. You will still need to do a manual vac from time to time, particularly if there has been high winds resulting in more debri going into the pool. I still do this once every two weeks and let the machine do the rest. The other common mistakes which will interfere with performance are: 1. Not regularly cleaning filter baskets including the secondary basket at the filter motor. 2. Not backwashing the the filter regularly. 3. Not ensuring that filter box plate where the hose goes into is in good order. 4. Not cleaning and maintaining filter system seals. 5. Not replacing worn foot which holds the skirt above the pool surface. All of the above will affect the vacuum capacity which is what the cleaner relies on operate effectively. My overview of the negative reviews indicates that the above procedures are not being done. As stated I have rarely had a problem with these and when I have it has been dealt with by the distributor efficiently and effectively. Im not a big fan of the one meter sectional hoses that comes with the unit and usually replace with a standard auto vac hose. I have had good service from this product. I am currently running three at different properties which have been going for between three and five years. I have recommended them to friends who have had equal success. And yes, they do make noise which is on par with any other auto vac that operates on a hammer system (triangular neoprene component which regulates speed). Strongly recommend this product.Absolutely the best pool cleaner I have ever had!
I read all of the reviews and there was pretty much a 50/50 split of "its great" vs "its awful" but as I needed a pool cleaner and this one was only $240 I took a leap of faith. Boy am I glad I did!
I have a 30,000L Bestway pool with vinyl sides and wasn't really sure that the Hy-Clor Poseidon MK2 would actually work with it as it does not have a skimmer box but I plugged into directly into one of the 2 outlets, plugged the other one and BLAM off it went! It has been 3-months now and I have it running on a timer for 3 hrs, twice day/night ...
Read moreand the pool is looking fantastic. I still check the pH/chlorine and add algaecide each week but now the Hy-Clor Poseidon MK2 is doing its rounds my actual pool cleaning is limited to scooping out the odd leaf and checking then cleaning out the filter-trap at the pump once in while. It has a hose-weight that you can slide along and doing this alters the path of the cleaner so it covers 99% of the pool. That wide rubber skirt and the unobstructed "throat" of the cleaning head create a suction strong enough for it to climb right up the walls and even get right into the corners - who knew! I mean seriously this is the coolest product and is 1/3rd the price of my old one. If your Hy-Clor Poseidon MK2 Automatic is not performing then I recommend that you (A) check your pump is the right rating to create the necessary suction (Minimum pump size 500w/ 0.75HP) (B) check your pump filter is clear and your sand filter is backwashed & rinsed so water flow/suction is not restricted by coagulated/matted debris (C) if you have more than one pool outlet then be sure to stick a plug in the others (with Intex / Bestway they come with the pool) or the suction will be too reduced for the cleaner to operate (D) try the hose weight at different positions on the hose that connects to the suction head, moving just 200mm-300mm each time will help you to fine tune the cleaner's behaviour and cleaning pattern and lastly (E) try more or less hose; I find adding or removing just 1 hose section makes a big difference to the cleaning pattern/behaviour. I use mostly hose that is sufficient to go from the side pool outlet to the furthest pool end +1. If those things are all good then the Hy-Clor Poseidon MK2 product should do a fantastic job of cleaning your pool. I'll update once I've had it for a year but so far its all been good. Enjoy your summer :-)Hy chlor poseidon mark 2 automatic.
I just purchased it this week after having had a kreepy krawley for years and years. I have found it to be excellent, I have a large 70,000 litre pool and it has done an excellent job. I found it easy to assemble, easy to use and effective in its use.
I had to contact the office to find where to get some extra extensions for the hose. The service was excellent.
really good unit
My old Kreepy Krawly was on its last legs with the skirt torn and the hose repeatedly disengaging from the unit. The cost to replace these parts was expensive and I had also noticed the unit often got stuck in corners and would always follow the same path.
Saw a se ond hand mk2 for sale on a local community classifieds for $50 so, even though O had read bad reviews on this cheap cleaner, decided for $50 to give it a go. At worst I could use the skirt on my aging kreepy Krawly.
Plugged it in and bingo, it started immediately. Had it now a ...
Read moreweek and the pool has never been cleaner. It never stops, tangles or fails to pick up debri. This is far superior to the old cleaner and new cost around $180, way cheeper than the leading brands. One of the best purchases I have made. Glad I ignored the bad reviews, my guess is they are poorly setup.Find out how Hy-Clor Poseidon MK2 Automatic compares to other Suction Pool Cleaners

Hy-Chlor Slider Vac
Bought this a week ago and it has my pool sparkling clean. Excellent price, local product support and parts available at Bunnings how could you go wrong. Works a lot better without the ring on the top. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for this type of pool cleaner.
Why Pay $800+ for the same result?
After my Zodiac Barra. Gen 1 was finally not worth repairing I shopped around to find a new pool cleaner. My local pool shop recommended a Creeepy Crawly costing $800+ dollars and said the cheaper products were rubbish. So in defiance I immediately crossed the road to Bunnings Wearhouse where I picked up a HY CLOR MK2 Automatic pool cleaner (Poseidon) for only $180 with 10m of hose and one year warrantee included. I am pleased to say it hasn't missed a beat. I recommend not using the weights provided and the length of hose should be one metre l...
Read moreonger than your pool. It gets in and out of corners well also. Bunnings also have a money back guarantee. It doesn't make sense to spend more on a pool cleaner when this one does the same. Don't be fooled by the big brand names and Thier big sales pitch. Hope this helps .....Have a magnificent day - the choice is yours!11 mths old & still going
I too was nearly put off by the bad reviews. Owned one for nearly 12 mths only complaint had to start replacing split hoses from about 8-9 mths but we never taken it out of pool, hence lasted everyday in sun that long. Replacement hoses are about $12 each and we are looking to try a one piece length very shortly. It did take a while to function properly like Jez says but we put this down to extremely dirty floor covered with slime. Once we backwashed a few times and brushed floor it started doing its job.

Works great! Can't understand some of the negative reviews.
I hesitated to purchase this as I saw some of the negative reviews on here. I thought I'd try it and if it really was a piece of rubbish I'd take it back to Bunnings for a refund. I've had it for four days and I'm very happy with it. It's replaced a Kreepy Krawly that had done a great job, but was over 10 years old and failing. This seems just as good as the Kreepy for one quarter the price. It climbs the walls nicely, which the Old Kreepy had stopped doing.
Poseidon Pool Cleaner
I have had my pool cleaner for about 6 or 7 summers and I reckon its great. Yes I have had to do some minor repairs along the way but i know this is the case with the more expensive cleaners as my colleague has one.
Be happy that you saved $500 bucks and spread the word instead of moaning.

Very happy with the poseidon!
Great price. Works fine. I don't use the speed adjuster of the elbow joiners. I just plug a male hose end into the top of the skimmer box plate. Pool shop people tell you it's junk and you should spent over $700 for a decent cleaner. I've found it great and I love that it was only $189.

Poseidon Automatic
Finally time to retire my old Zodiac - was certainly a bit suspicious about a Poseidon, given the low price and a few negative reviews here.
But the thing worked great straight out of the box, at least as good as the old Zodiac, maybe even goes a shade higher on the walls.
This style of cleaner only has one moving part. In my opinion the Poseidon/Bunnings price is what they SHOULD cost, not the $500-800 dollars pool shops charge for much the same product.
Good product, excellent value for money
I see that may of the negative reviews of this product are critical because the cleaner gets jammed on large leaves. As far as I know, no cleaners of this type handle large leaves - certainly the two ...
Read moreother suction-powered cleaners I've owned couldn't handle big trash either (a Kreepy and a Zodiac). None of them was any better than the Poseidon, though they may have lasted longer. In my opinion, if you want a 'set and forget' type of cleaner that can pretty much handle whatever falls into the pool, buy a self propelled 'robotic' type cleaner. They're getting much cheaper these days and that's certainly what I'll be buying next time.Good pool cleaner for the price
Just purchased the Poseidon Mk 2 from Bunnings for $189. It took me about 10 minutes to set up and in the pool. So simple and easy to do (follow the instructions). Straight away the cleaner went to work and blazed a trail through all the dirt and leaves at the bottom of my pool. I know its only early days yet but it works fantastic. Cleaned the bottom of my fairly large pool in about 3 hours. It even ventured up the wall
a few times. Having had various pools and cleaners this one works just as well as any cleaner I've had worth 3 times as much...

Works perfectly
I can't help think that a lot of the negative reviews are people with a conflict of interest such as pool shop owners trying to flog their own rip off product that works no better. I've got a Poseidon for my home pool and got one for my parents home pool, both work brilliantly and no problems in well over two years. Easy to use, simply to assemble and very very rarely gets stuff. A $200 product that equal or out performs all that expensive pool shop [censored word removed]
Easy to use, reliable and inexpensive
Pool shop owners making up lies
I can assure you I'm not a pool shop owner nor do I have any vested interests in the Poseidon. It simply doesnt work.
Surprisingly good and does everything properly
Had one of these for 5 years now and it does a great job. Climbs walls, gets out of corners, starts up fine (had to make a small adjustment here) and has totally outperformed the previous barracuda and kreepy. Those people grumbling need to take time to learn how their own pool and pool equipment work. This is not something that happens overnight, pools aren't plug and play.
Reliability

Read morehe weights to get things working reasonably well. However, I can't get it to climb the walls and it misses three reasonable size areas all the time. Where it has cleaned, it cleaned well. The hose length could be reduced by a couple of pieces if necessary. Any tips on getting it to climb walls and clean the whole srface area? Thanks RichardNeeded tuneing
I bought this pool cleaner from Bunnings. It worked really well and cleaned excellent but it would not self start you had to give it a shake until one day I opened another valve on the Spa which lowered the pressure on the line to pool cleaner and now it self starts easily. So if it will not self start try adjusting the adjuster open more which will lower the pressure on the pool cleaner line
Had a Barracuda before which got caught in corners or tipped over this one self right to ensure it keeps going
How did you tune it????
Questions & Answers
I have newly tiled my pool. My Hy-Clor Mk2 worked adequately on the old marble sheen surface ( abit of the usual tracking) but does not consistently move forward on the new tiles even though it is pulsating healthily. Also it does not seem to be sitting consistnetly flat on the bottom of the pool. Any suggestions?
Is there a larger bump ring available to replace the 330 one supplied as standard? I have a small pool with square corners and the cleaner gets s=tuck in the corners. I suspect a bigger diameter bump ring may be the solution? Thanke Rich
Have to check with the manufacturer. I found them very good to deal with.
Make sure your hose is the right length. Rule being that the house needs to be one meter longer than the pool. I have also had more success with continuous hose rather than the 1 meter sectional hose ...
Read moresystem supplied with the cleaner. For a small square pool with hard corners you could also try reducing the one additional meter .I have a Hy-clor Poseidon MK2 Automatic, I'm finding it won't go up the walls.
I didn't have the poseidon model Kathy. If you call their customer service their tech help is great, but customer service poor

Update; Had this cleaner for 2 years now, still no problems.
As someone else noted, the hose supplied is rubbish and had to be replaced after one year, but otherwise a good product in my opinion.
