Amazing customer service

In the past 18 months, I've contacted customer service three or so times (no issues from their end, just had questions about my bill etc.), over chat and the phone. I have only received excellent service and they were very helpful, and friendly, each time. We're looking to move interstate at some point, and will be using them again. Compared to my experience with other providers who have been absolute nightmares, I have experienced no issues with Powershop. The billing is straightforward and there's a helpful daily usage graph. Show details

Customer service is terrible

I was forced to be with this company for 12 days because I moved into a rental apartment that had a black mark on the property that my electricity company couldn't do anything about because the previous tenants ran up a bill and Power shop was the company that had put the black mark. Powershop removed the black mark, but forced me to be with them for 12 days despite me having a provider I would rather use and during those 12 days, the customer service are the most unfriendly I have ever met and the call quality was terrible too, I could barely understand a word they said. Show details

12c FIT means no bills. Ever

I swapped to Powershop 18 months ago after EA dropped their FIT to 7c and have been delighted with the service. I’ve often emailed them and always get prompt service. With 11.7kW of solar pv on two 5kW inverters I am constantly in credit, and unlike Qantas, they credit it in cash into my bank.
There are higher feed in tariffs around of 15c to 17c but typically with 5kWH export limits which drop to 7c. Unlimited 12c FIT (plus $75 referral fee and pension rebates) will let me earn $1,000 this year in cash on top of zero bills. The only export limit with Powershop is 10kW of inverters.
It’s simple: swamp the roof with as much pv as you can and get the best FIT. You’ll earn 25% on your investment. Show details

Don’t use overcharged me with no solution

I don’t write reviews but I am disgusted of how I have been treated. With Powershop for over 3 years bill has always been approx $150.00 a month on average using approx 15kw then all of a sudden I get bill for $350.00 for 1 month saying that I have used 40kw a day. Now gone back down to 15kw a day with no real explanation. Called 4 times and customer service is shocking and rude. Am going to move to a new supplier one that has manners and wants to resolve your problems. Show details

Don't go to Powershop

They advertise that "You have power" meaning that you can log onto your account and keep track of your usage... Nonsense! all they do is base it on your last bill, so it's false, misleading and a lie. Customer Service is condescending. Show details

Absolutely misleading

This company started off being reasonable to deal with. We purchased energy in advance. Soon though, the company was purchased by a global energy company and all benefits disappeared. Our energy bills are astronomical, not from increased usage but from price gouging. Show details

Our final gas bill for ONE MONTH is $840. There is no way we used that much gas. I will be asking the Ombudsman to investigate as something is clearly wrong here.

Outstanding customer service

Moving house on a Friday is stressful, but finding out that the electricity hadn’t been connected was insane. One phone call to Powershop Australia and the operator went over and above to resolve the issue. without giving a guarantee that the electricity would definitely be connected before days end, I felt confident that this wonderful lady was going to do everything in her power to help me out. The power was connected and to my surprise another operator from Powershop rang me to double check the connection had happened before she finished work for the weekend. Thank you Ladies. Ridiculously high rates!

Powershop is ridiculously expensive. I have been with them for some years now, using both gas and electricity and for too long just assumed that all providers were now expensive (due to high energy costs etc). I was wrong. I have just signed up for a different electricity provider and they are around 25% cheaper than Powershop. It's just outrageous. All Powershop does is source electricity coverage from a supplier in my area, and somehow they think it absolutely fine to charge much higher rates. No surprise though, given that this once ethical company were taken over in 2022 by Shell. Show details

Absolutely hopeless

Got my final bill from Powershop, they didn't send someone out to check the meter for the final bill so instead estimated it, they estimated FAR over the amount that I had actually used and charged me for that amount, when I called them to ask them to amend it they told me they couldn't amend my final bill due to my account being closed and I just had to pay it. Very expensive

Was relevantly good but in June they suddenly hiked prices through the roof. Reduced Feed in tariffs, daily supply charge at over a $1.20 and charges at 39c...
A normL home would now be looking at $300 a month, that's crazy. Would find someone else. Show details

Increased Rates from 27c to 36c overnight and reduced feed-in

were ok compared to the rest for a year, but always odd on the meter readings.. they have now moved to 37c and 12c feed-in. so time to move back to another supplier that is 27c (red energy) Show details

Been with them for less then a week

Dishonest and crappy expensive

They took 6 months to transfer my gas account to a different supplier and meanwhile charged a flat rate for gas instead of stepped rate like other supplier. They charged 3.53/MJ as a flat rate and $1.20 as DSC. Will never recommend powershop to others which is huge compared to other supplier rates. My gas bill was 3X times higher than usual. AVOID POWERSHOP for Gas and Electricity. Show details

They were once great, now more interested in being Green than their customers

I was with Powershop almost from their start up 7 odd years ago. They were the fun company in the energy market, always looking for low prices to pass on to their customers. Ofering great discounts specially on their prepaid power packs. Now they are only interested in being the "Green company", gone are the discount prices. Gone is the customer focus. They now buy solar generated power from their customers for $0.05 only to sell it back at $0.37 cents per Kw, a 740% mark up. Other than them now being a packofdicks I had no problems, if they want to be the Green Company I’m not going to pay for it. Show details

Troublesome and dishonest

I live in a property without a smart meter which relies on the distributor to read the meter every quarter. Every month powershop was able to provide a reasonable bill based off an estimated usage of c.10kwh/day. I then decided to switch to another provider as they were raising their rates. The switch was at a date again where the distributor would not have done an actual meter read hence powershop would need to provide an estimated meter read. However for some reason, powershop in its final bill decided to assume I am using 50kwh/day?! This lead to a final bill that is worth a typical month's charge when it is only actually for 9 days. I am in a two person household, how does powershop think it is reasonable to assume a 40kwh/day usage?? Show details

not to be trusted

I signed up for electricity with them after comparison with my existing provider. AFTER 1 month I receive my bill, daily rates charged for 4 days was different and the other 28 days charged extra 0.30 cents. so I went back to my welcome pack to see what rates had been agreed on. The terms and condition says look at the pricing statement, looking at the pricing statement there are no rates on there. I called them up they said the rates are in your bill or log into your online portal - but the rates online can be changed anytime????? but what about the rates I used to compare and decided to move with them. Show details

SIGNED UP FOR SINGLE RATE TARIFF & GAVE ME TIME OF USE TARIFF INSTEAD

Powershop is extremely deceitful. I signed up for a Single Rate Tariff and on account activation gave me a Time if use tariff, that was very expensive and not what I signed up for. The Powershop representative said they could not change over to the Single rate until July. I told Powershop that they need provide the Single Rate that I signed up for or I want exercise my rights to the cooling off period and cancel. They were not willing to give me the correct rates, so I had to cancel during cooling off period. Do not use them. They are crooks. Very disappointed with their dishonesty. Show details

Bait and switch to the core

Signed up to a powershop plan with a 13C FIT. The day after my move to powershop was completed I logged in and see a notice to say my 13C FIT was being halved to 7C before I even get my first bill.
Surprised this is even legal, but their response was simply that they can make changes as they see fit as long as they advise me, so time to move my power again.
If you don't want to move twice in a month, avoid Powershop. Show details

Badly Organised

Signed up online for single rate but when the approval came back in 24hrs they had put me onto a time of use rate. I immediately rang them and was assured it would be changed. When my final confirmation came through it was again at time of use rate. I rang again and was THEN told it would take 20 days to be changed and any extra charge during that time was my problem.
The staff were very polite but appeared to lack training as it was a messy setup process and I'm am likely to cancel. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't have used them. Show details

Very Bad

The billing period is very unclear. It was like I have to pay twice a month. They are not also clear about the dates for billing. For 2 people, I had to pay $500++ in just three months!! Why was that?
And also when I called their customer service to get a detailed bill, they could not make it clearer. Thus I had to change my provider. Show details

Extremely poor service

Made an application to transfer my electricity account and was refused - I have no history of defaults and the only conclusion is that it smells of collusive activity.

As a result I am faced with a 300% power bill increase with my current electricity provider.

All they can do is send an email and don't even have the decency to make a phone call to discuss. Show details
