No problems with Card
Having traveled to Canada & USA over the past 6 years & have had only one issue with card thus far & that was with an ATM in Canada when short changed ($50 instead of $60). I have never used the Qantas card as a "holding" card in hotels but used my bank credit card for this purpose & payed the bill on checkout with Qantas card. Overall a good product

A great money card to use
I have been to Singapore on two occasions using QC and never had a problem both at the ATM and in shop. I have always loaded my card a couple of months before traveling so money was always there in the estimated time they gave. I never used customer service cause I never had a problem. A great product

Just checked my balance and I seem to have lost the $200 I had stored on the card. My balance is now $4.
I travelled to Thailand a few years ago and kept Thai currency on the card. 2 years ago I checked the balance and decided to continue to leave the cash on the card to see if Thai baht exchange became more favourable. My money has since disappeared off the card.

Credit card with perks but oh so inflexible and difficult to deal with
The card works but has some really stupid features. As an airline based card, should be optimised for international use? - No - to access the card online requires (no choices) a working phone for a security code, therefore, if in a country without much of a network, or if you choose not to bother with a phone on holidays - no access. Even at home, after account number surname, PIN and security code - to look at a statement requires a further password. Finally - no email or message contact, has to be by phone - NO CUSTOMER SERVICE to speak of.

Stranded without money
I traveled to the uk with my qantas cash card and some cash, I loaded my card prior to leaving with the majority of my money. Once my cash was low I went to get some money from the atm to discover my card was a year out of date. Yes I should of checked. But I was never sent a new card, and there was no issue with them accepting my money. Thus no money, I contacted QC to be told of my options. Transfer to someone else card...nope cant ...wait for a new card, this would take 10 days.. nope. Or request emergency cash. This was my only option. So I...
Read more started the process, not having a SIM card that could access o/s I had to borrow phones, I was told I would receive part of my money the next day and would have to pick it up from western union. After a code would be emailed, That was the last I heard From them for 24 hours where again I had to contact them, I had to start the whole process again. Waited for the email.....nope...I requested a call back...never happened, no email. When I finally spoke to someone again they said the code would be emailed. They called in the middle of the night (finally returning my call) I confirmed all my details again and asked them to email me the information and not call as it was the middle of the night. They rang back....30 mins later. Still didnt receive the code until I sent a very blunt email that this is emergency money and Im travelling with children and have no money. I received the code late on a Saturday so was unable to receive my cash until the Monday, the whole process took about 5 days, numerous o/s phone calls and emails. I was only able to receive part of my money and was asked if I wanted to go through the whole process again so as to receive the rest. I chose not to as I was about to fly home and didnt have the time. On returning home I received a new card with a letter telling me your card is about to expire...yes 12 months ago. The whole process ruined mine and my children holiday.Mat KundtGreater Melbourne (Inner), VIC

Did not work in Europe and Asia, customer service did not return call for a week.
I have the Qantas Travel money card for a year. I first tried it in New Zealand, most of the places will not work, as New Zealand businesses do not take it. The card will work for online purchase, so if you prepay your hotels, car rentals, air ticket and other venue tickets, it will work online. However, if you rely on the card overseas, you will encounter problems. Then, I travelled to Europe for 5 weeks, 95% of the time it will not work, tried insert the card (SIM), swipe the magnetic tape. It is very frustrating, especially if you have load...
Read moreed the Euros for the trip, and I have to use my other credit card and pay for exchange fees. It just defeats the whole purpose. Then, I travelled to Asia, and I convert the Euros into the Asia country currency, but the card does not work. The card is OK for online purchase though, but not for day-to-day, face-to-face tap and go payment at the business locations ( hotels, restaurants, shops..... the card is not accepted). I then rang the customer centre, and they said that they will arrange a consultant to return my call and work out the problems, I have waited for 7 days, no phone calls from them. It is no point ringing them, as those who answer the call can only reply according the scripts or Q&A, any other questions, they will take down your phone number and say will return your call, but they never do. So, with the remaining foreign currency in the card, I have to convert them back to Australian dollar and use them to pay my utility bills in Australia online. So, I lost time, convenience and multiple change of currencies from AUD to NZD, to EURO and then to HK dollar, and back to AUD. My advice is not to rely on the Qantas Travel Card, if you do not have a spare credit card and spare funds. Your travel money will be locked in a card that does not work overseas.wallabyholtzeDarwin, NT

Next to useless
Does not reconize my PIN if I want to obtain cash at an ATM. Can only use it for small purchases at tap and go as my PIN does not work. Have sent emails requesting help but have not received any reply.

Steer clear of qantas travel card
We are in Barcelona and unable to use our cards except for small purchases under 30 euro as their card machines do
not have a facility to press ‘credit’ and just entering your PIN number doesn’t
work. This card does not do what it is
advertised to do. Will be lodging a complaint to the regulators on our return.

Terrible if you are overseas and cannot access support
If you don't have access to a phone connection to the help line, nothing can be done. Customer service is rude. A nominated relative can'r even help in Australia. I understand the need for security, but not being able to access money because the pin won't work was very hard.

Very easy to use, never had a problem
I was traveling to the USA San Diego and Las Vegas, for 10 days and being a Frequent Flyer member was very interested in the Qantas Travel Money Card. After reading all the negative reviews I was very nervous about loading the card and this being my major source of funs while away.
After making the first transaction on the day I landed and then regular purchases there after.
Downloading the app to my phone also made it very easy to check my balance on the go.
I can only say I am very happy with this card and would recommend it for any Qantas Frequent Flyer member

Disgusting product and service
App (and website) keeps crashing. Gives useless excuses and keeps you from using your own money. Tried several times to rectify, however Completely ignorant and careless support staff. Unable to access money.

Beware of bank fees
I loaded THB and EUR for a trip in May 10/19 fist experience was in Thailand where the ATM withdrew the THB transaction from my EUR. Then I noticed I was charged AUD for that and every subsequent withdrawl. That's around $10 AUD very pricey if you don't take out large amounts. In Italy where I used my EUR it was hard finding and ATM that would accept he card but they charged 3.5 EUR that's around $6.80 AUD per transaction. Qantas have promoted no bank transaction fees on withdrawls, better read the fine print its their own $1.95 AUD transaction...
Read more fee. They do however state that some banks 'MAY' charge a fee when withdrawing money overseas, yes that's very true and costly. Better to take cash you get a better rate and no fees. Lots of not so obvious terms and conditions backing this product up. Won't use it again it cost me hundreds of dollars in fees and headaches with ATM's just for the benefit of using it. By the way when i called Qantas about the THB,EUR,AUD issues they told me to contact the bank in Thailand. The reviewer stated that an incentive was offered for this review

What a mess!
I have travelled recently in The United States and Italy. Sometimes my card worked, other times not. My pin was rejected, so I got a new pin. It worked, and then it was rejected. I got a third pin which worked for a time and then not. I found my original pin would then work, but then not. So I am now home with a lot of unused money on the card.
Very worried
We are leaving for one of the most amazing holidays of our lives in just a week, and the service has been abysmal. I have thousands of dollars in foreign currency paid for on this card, yet for the past week, I have been unable to add any more even though the Aussie dollar is falling very fast. I keep getting the same error message every time I try, and it doesn’t matter which credit card are used to transfer the funds. I called today, and I got no help. I worry that I have merely wasted thousands of dollars. I do not recommend the service and all. Just do the good old fashion thing and use your credit card overseas. Trust me, please.
They hook you with the prospect of points. The points aren’t worth the stress.

I would rate it zero if I could
I am trying to travel to the US and purchase things in advance. Loading cash was fine. The card is essentially useless to me however. They do not let you change your billing address to outside of Australia - even when that is going to be your residential address - and prefer to keep incorrect address details on file for sensitive financial information - great security there financial institution. This card has been constantly declined because of the billing address issue. I started using the card to try make life easier, however it is making ev...
Read moreerything much harder and frustrating and resulting in numerous phone calls that shouldn't be required. I cannot urge anyone who is considering this card strongly enough to look elsewhere - it's a debacle and a blight on the Qantas brand. What's more, Qantas themselves have not integrated the product into their ecosystem so you have to call different organizations constantly to try and resolve this. It's ridiculous. Don't do it to yourself. Traveller's cheques would be easier than this! Or a carrier pigeon...TomPerth, WA
Worked Perfect
We recently went on a 4 week holiday through Canada & the USA with a qantas travel card each, spent a lot of time researching other cards as we were worried about the bad reviews on this qantas cash card. Don’t listen to all the bad reviews people only write when something goes wrong. The card was great! Never had an issue, the app was easy to use & to reload currency when needed
We always had a back up credit card & cash with us just in case, what traveler wouldn’t have a back up? Simple.

Does Qantas cash card have any fees
2 answers
No, doesn't
Frequent Flyer
Technically it doesn't, however they give you poor exchange rates which make it much more expensive then using your bank credit card. It is the same as buying money at the airport, usually 20% worse than at a suburban office of the same company.

This is the only contact form I have found. I am a lifetime member of Qantas Club and have been trying to log in to my apparently dormant cash card account. Changed pin when requested at least twice. Still cannot log in. QC No: 0042515
