No problems with Card
Having traveled to Canada & USA over the past 6 years & have had only one issue with card thus far & that was with an ATM in Canada when short changed ($50 instead of $60). I have never used the Qantas card as a "holding" card in hotels but used my bank credit card for this purpose & payed the bill on checkout with Qantas card. Overall a good product

Worked ok in the USA
We each received a card in 2017 without being asked, had to do the usual setup which was easy.
My wife went to New York for 2 weeks in april 2018, first time the card was used.
Loaded only USD on it, of course the rate is not as good as other cards.
The experience was basically positive, but with many variations.
She withdrew cash, no problem to do so, but there was 3USD fee as well as AUD2.50 ATM fee.
For purchases, it varied. On only one occasion did it not accept this card, so she used the credit card.
Purchases we mainly minor, such a...

Great card for travel money while earning FF points
I've just returned from a three week holiday in western europe (France, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, and UK) using the Qantas Cash card as an eftpos card throughout the trip. I loaded it up in the months leading up to the trip with euro and pound and had absolutely no issues at any point using the card at any places. For someone planning a trip who wants to lock in the exchange rates before you go plus earn Qantas points while you're travelling I would reccommend this card.
It was relatively quick (deposits usually appeared withi...

Worked great, for us
My husband and I used the Qantas Cash card in Canada and USA without any hassles. We loaded money on it before we left (in CAD & USD) and used it all around both countries. For hotel's we did give them our Visa Credit card and they held the card for the time we were there for incidentals etc but then released it, so we didn't use our Qantas card for that (as suggested by them) The only problem we had was that towards the end of the holiday, as I used the 1 day recharge we had to ring as we hadn't received the money. We received it about 3 da...
Read moreys later and in the meantime had to use the Visa credit card for a couple of things we needed. We both had a Qantas Card and when we logged on used the finger print option on our phones, this worked most times, with us having to input our frequent flyer card no etc on a couple of occasions, which was a pain. I would recommend this card as it worked for us and we would use it again. We have not been overseas before, so are not seasoned travellers.Doesnt work for online sales in america
We used the card for travel in Dubai, Venice, Athens and Santorini. No probs getting cash out of any ATM. Tried first in Dubai airport, followed the instructions it worked. If you use it as credit card in Dubai have the amount paid in aussie dollars not UAE dirhams, cheaper the shop lady said. I tried to use it from Australia to buy online parts from new mexico , America but declined 3 times. Rang the help line took 4 mins pressing numbers on phone got thru to Manila. The lady was very helpful and said it was still active and had the required amount on it and should work. It doesn't work in America for online sales from my experience. So went and got a aussie post load and go card, worked first time after doing log in.

I use this in Australia Only
So I did not want to get a credit card and decided to have my old Qantas Club card replaced with the qantas cash card. I received it in around 5 days after calling and requesting it. I performed the activation via the website which was pretty straight forward. I pretty much choose to do the instand load each time as I'm happy to pay the feee, however I have done the eft transfer twice with no issues. Money has arrived exactly 24 hours after I transferred it from my ANZ bank (always transfer before 2). The instant load has failed on me once howe...
Read morever I called the customer service team and it was fixed two days later. We both have these cards now and use them for all purchases/spending money. We both changed our PIN number at our local RediTeller which is where it tells you to do so in there site. Being a regular qantas flyer I wanted to earn points without a credit card and this seems to be working well. We are two months in and had no real dramas. my only bug bear is that uber does not accept these cards however have had no issues any other times. The app is adequate and gets the job done however it could be improved. Being able to transfer money from my card to my partners card instantly is awesome and I do it through the app or via the website. All in all for use in Australia I can recommend it. Have not used it overseas so cannot talk to that.Geoff FHobart

A good way of managing your travel currency
For me, the convenience of having multiple currencies stored on the one card would alone be enough to make this a really handy product. The exchange rate is probably not the best (nor is it the worst!) but locking the cash into the card does give you certainty.
I find it better for withdrawing cash than paying for goods, as once or twice in restaurants for whatever reason the PIN (which I am 100% certain I entered correctly) was not accepted. So you should probably carry a credit card with you as well, as a backup.

I have used my Qantas cash card in Asia and in Europe and had no issues. Exchange rate is slightly less than the banks but there are no extra fees

No Problems
After reading poor reviews I was wary, but chose to use it as a back up. I set it up with some GBP and AUD and used it before heading overseas to be sure.
Qantascash has served me well in both England and France, I have had to load up, transfer between currencies and change defaults currency a few times and it is so easy with the app. It really is a good way to get cash and make purchases overseas. (Not to use for security deposits etc)
My only gripe is instant loading is only possible on a PC, and the fee that comes with it. Transferring funds to card needs improvement. But overall very satisfied.
Positives - works everywhere, good app to manage account. Easy default currency change.
Negatives- hard to get cash on card quickly.

Love that I can earn points every single day!
This card is the best thing since sliced bread. I use it on a daily basis, and yes I live in Australia. I load it with my own money from my bank account, and use it everywhere that accepts EFTPOS (which is everywhere). So I am earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points everyday. I earn way more points from this card than I do from flights. Not only is it awesome for this reason, but also for it's main reason - to load foreign currencies. I've travelled to both Europe and USA and had no issues using it anywhere. The only thing I don't like is how the ...
Read moreQantas Cash rates are a bit less than the actual foreign exchange rates, but I suppose they've got to take their cut somehow, same as a currency exchange store at the airport. The people I've spoken to from Customer Support have all been really good. I actually lost my card at the start of the USA trip and had to ring up and cancel it straight away, which I did so very easily. Then I continued to use my boyfriends card on the trip. I don't have any fees on it so it works great for me. And so easy to load money on it. If I load it before 10am on a weekday, the money will be on my Qantas Cash card that afternoon. So useful when travelling overseas. Great customer service and product.
Had trouble with activating Qantas Cash Card as I had used up all my attempts when trying to verify my identity and had to fill out form and go to post office. Didn't receive confirmation so had to ring up customer service but had no issue with customer service. Attendant was friendly and helpful. Had solved the issue for me and could use card and load money afterwards.
Easy to transfer money from account even though it took a few days so be aware that it may take time for it to come through and plan ahead. I was a bit worried that it would...
Read moren't go through after reading reviews but it did. First time using it in general and in Taiwan. Useful for when traveling overseas. Had no problems. Didn't use ATM in Taiwan as was told there was a charge could use the card at most places in Taiwan. Only for use in Aus....
I only use this to get FF points when spending in Australia. And it does this very effectively.
The app is also very good at monitoring your account.
As far as exchange rates and the foreign cash accounts on this card, the exchange is very poor and it doesn't have the currency I require anyway. I take cash overseas and get the very best rate of exchange. (For those interested in getting the best rate! No institution in Aus is going to tell you to take cash because they want to rip you off).
Quite easy to load from a simple internet bank tran...

Great card for paying bills and earning QF Points
I have found this card fantastic for paying all my bills (rates, petrol, car registration, insurance, public transport passes, etc) and earning Qantas points in the process.
I can't comment on using it internationally as I use a far superior visa debit card issued by Citibank when I travel (no fees, very reasonable cash rate) but for domestic use in Australia the Qantas Cash card is more than adequate.
Very easy to load and I have had no issues since I started using it 18 months ago, therefore I can't comment on their customer support.

Its pretty good
Some ATM's the card didn't work in Vietnam, But it generally worked pretty well at 80% of them and while of course it costs money in fees to withdraw money from ATM's, i didnt have any problems with it in my 2 occasions whilst being overseas and that was the main thing!

Works well overseas or at home
I use my QFF cash card when overseas (as I am overseas often for work). No issues with loading (via funds transfer) or using the card at merchants or at ATM's. Exchange rates offered are comparable to all other similar facilities (ie other travel cards) but I'm sure it could be better to the 'on the day' rate.
Only one issue stopping me giving a 5 out of 5, and that's the infuriating 20% extra that's always blocked on purchases at restaurants, cafe's and bars (which I usually use this card for) as it assumes there might be upto a 20% tip. It'...

I use the cash facility of the card to get Qantas points without the cost of owning a credit card.
It was a bit of a hassle to activate it, i too had to go to the post office to verify my identity but since then i have had no issues.
I use it for most of my online shopping instead of my normal bank card and i like to lock in the exchange rate instead of it changing every day while on holidays.
Two things to watch out for: 1 transfer onto the card is normally next day except for weekends and public holidays, big delays there. 2 when your au...
Good way to have travel cash
I've just spent a little over a week I New Zealand and had no problems with the card. The exchange rate probably isn't great but at least you know how much you have in your account and don't get charged all those fees for currency exchange etc.
It does take a few days to load up your currency though. Probably good to take a backup credit card with you. I always do.
Updated Review after 2 years' continuous use.
I made a review of this product on the 26/06/2014 with a 5 star rating.
After being one of the very first clients issued with Qantas Cash in October, 2013, I conduct regular use of the facility.
True, there are features some people find inconvenient such as non-real time transfers of bank funds to and from the facility. (This should change in the latter term though because a payments system renaissance is already underway in Australia.)
Since my last review, BPAY and POLI were the only two loading options to use until standard bank tra...
Read morensfers replaced POLI with a next-business-day-before-2pm pledge to appease disgruntled customers. I cannot comment on FOREX conversion rates because I use the card strictly for domestic purchases to ascertain 1 POINT per AU$2 of spend. (1 POINT per AU$1 of spend only applies to amounts denominated in a foreign currency outside the primary Australian Dollar digital wallet.) I formed the view long ago that cash, as we know it, will become completely digitized in our lifetime once the RBA makes the inevitable decision to withdraw bank notes and coinage from our monetary system.Possum_boyAU

All good, except for login.
I have used the Qantas card for two overseas trips, without a problem. My research at the time, had it's exchange rate beating all the majors but not the OzForex card. Adding funds to the card and transferring funds between currencies all worked without a problem. The only aspect I don't like much is the convoluted login.

Fairly good to use in countries which like credit cards and have currencies that are on the card
We used this card in Turkey, Jordan, Israel , in these cases only for ATM withdrawals for cash, and Australian currency was used to convert, Then in France, Belgium and the UK where it was used for all kinds of purchases, and ATMs and we never had a problem with its use. The only drawback is the time it takes to get money loaded and into the account. We thought we had run out of UK pounds and resorted to our credit card only to find that I had 57 pounds which had not loaded in time. Also when adding in additional euros. But if you travel and ...
Read morehave all your travel funds already in the account before you leave it is good. Yes the exchange rate is not as good as using a credit card with no foreigh exchange fees, but the rates were better or equivalent to cash rates I got, and also exchanging between cards and between currencies was instantaneous. Also not having a charge for loading Aussie dollars is priceless, as it means you can load aussie dollara to be used for currnencies not carried by the card with only one transfer penalty ( as in built in charge for currency conversion) The $2.50 fee for Atms is as good as any other card fee for using foreign ATMs. As long as the bank in the country doesnot charge therir own fees.Questions & Answers

Does Qantas cash card have any fees

No, doesn't
Frequent Flyer
Technically it doesn't, however they give you poor exchange rates which make it much more expensive then using your bank credit card. It is the same as buying money at the airport, usually 20% worse than at a suburban office of the same company.

As with any card to be used overseas it pays to set up and use in home country before leaving. QCash is great for purchases and getting cash from ATMs and not for hotel or hire car security deposits.
