A great money card to use
I have been to Singapore on two occasions using QC and never had a problem both at the ATM and in shop. I have always loaded my card a couple of months before traveling so money was always there in the estimated time they gave. I never used customer service cause I never had a problem. A great product
Worked Perfectly In UK and Europe
Just returned from a 4 week trip including London, Leeds, Amsterdam, Munich and Zurich and the card was the perfect travel companion.
I had put both pounds and euros on the card over 12 months ago when the Australian dollar was much higher.
It worked great as a contactless card on the London underground and buses.
I only had to use my PIN in Zurich - other than that it was just tap and go.
I had a small amount of cash with me in each country but came home with most of it in my pocket as I could use the card for almost everything, even in a small shop where I bought a bottle of water that cost 2 Euro!
Very easy to use, never had a problem
I was traveling to the USA San Diego and Las Vegas, for 10 days and being a Frequent Flyer member was very interested in the Qantas Travel Money Card. After reading all the negative reviews I was very nervous about loading the card and this being my major source of funs while away.
After making the first transaction on the day I landed and then regular purchases there after.
Downloading the app to my phone also made it very easy to check my balance on the go.
I can only say I am very happy with this card and would recommend it for any Qantas Frequent Flyer member
No hassle at all
Looks like there are people that are not happy with the Qcash service.
Suggestion is to go to another service provider.
If you do not like to fly QUANTAS, then fly Vergin or Tiger.
If you do not like to shop at Coles, then you go to Woolies.
Customer choice is a powerful action.
We recently went on a 4 week holiday through Canada & the USA with a qantas travel card each, spent a lot of time researching other cards as we were worried about the bad reviews on this qantas cash card. Don’t listen to all the bad reviews people only write when something goes wrong. The card was great! Never had an issue, the app was easy to use & to reload currency when needed
We always had a back up credit card & cash with us just in case, what traveler wouldn’t have a back up? Simple.
The BEST dispute service in the business!
The BEST dispute service in the business!
The dispute team is always on your side granted you fill in the form properly.
If anything goes wrong with your dispute you can always escalate your grievance to Quality Control and they WILL give you a amiable outcome in a prompt fashion.
Their dispute service is MUCH better than that of its counterpart Virgin Global Velocity Wallet !
My only complaint is Qantas Cash to date has no virtual card function which its counterpart has!
Easy to use card, Great customer service
I've been using this card for few years now and it always worked well, even getting cash out from atm's.
I needed help with allocating a new card and the girls at costumer service and membership were very helpful and friendly. Happy with this service
What's with all the whining?? Card is great
No idea why people moan about this.
Have used it for multiple holidays - US, UK, Italy, France, Scotland and never had an issue.
Easy to load, easy to transfer.
Works where previously my ANZ travel card wouldn't.
Never had a problem at any vendors or ATMs.
Obviously there are fees, they can't offer a service for nothing??
Lost my wallet, called and asked for a replacement card. Got it express post in the mail two days later, no cost.
I don't transfer it all over before the trip. I leave it sitting in AUD and transfer in chunks. Saved me losing money transferring unused funds back later, and also meant I could use it as a tap and go card when I got home to use up the excess funds.
Card has served me well both USA and Japan
Accepted at all types of purchase withdraw with no fees in Japan from 7/11 shops. In USA withdraw cash from America bank for small fee, when using in other transaction sometimes they ask for id and sign, pay tips with cash. Do not use for accommodation as a bond that is held can take days to weeks be re credited, book in with a credit card and settle account with Qantas card in USA currency, or in Japan Yen loaded on card
Excellent Card for USA
Spent 3 weeks in USA used card for nearly all purchases and also ATM for card. If using to pay for meal and you give card for payment and its authorised beware if you add a tip on most places do a new authorisation for the new amount and you need to wait days for the 1st one to drop out. Best way is to say no tip and the leave tip in cash. When using in shops most times not asked for pin or even to sign.
Very easy to use
Recently loaded and used for trip to Thailand, was accepted at all restaurants and atm machines with no drama at all. Very convenient app allows you to view your account balance easily. Definitely recommend and will use again!
Good travel card, with fraudulent transaction protection - MasterCard Zero Liability
I've utilised this card for some years now - easy and convenient to load funds, fees are minimal (https://www.qantascash.com/rates-fees/fees-charges/), and the acceptance seems wide with MasterCard. Having recently experience loss on the card from fraudulent activity, I was please with the process and timeliness of the response and the return of my lost funds - phone call to alert me of some 'unusual activity', emailed a dispute form to complete, funds returned and new card received within 2 weeks.
- better transfer rates between currencies (on the card),
- clearer (specifically easier to read balance information) details for transactions and balance amounts in the Transaction History / Statements.
Awesome... no problem at all
I have used the QC while travelling through Europe (UK, Paris, Venice, Milan, Rome, Athens, Santorini), I have not had any issues at all.
I preloaded funds in AU and Euro before I left for my travels, and transferred accordingly when my Euro funds got low. I’m surprised at all the negative comments on this forum. Using this card was a great experience, and having the ability to go into the app to see when funds had been taken out by tour providers was also handy (as once in Paris I was charged 4 times for a tour, as the operator of the eftpos...

Worked perfectly every time through Europe and UK
I don't understand all the negative comments on this site for QC. Used it flawlessly for 6 weeks throughout Italy, France, Uk, and Germany. It worked exactly as QC documents and advertising said it would. I never used the instant load feature because of the well informed fee attached. I only loaded via direct debit through my bank account requiring 2 business days to appear on my QC card. This was a little inconvenient but i was expecting it because it was clearly stated in the product documentation. Very few times the atm I was withdrawing fr...om couldn't discern I had euros loaded on the card and so took my AUD and converted it on the fly. But overall it was dependable, easy and smooth. Perhaps disgruntled people don't realise this is a cash card, not a bank. Qantas makes their money by adding their cut on top of the actual exchange rate. This is totally understandable, and money lost on this can be made back via the discounts gained when using the accumulated qantas points later. The only tip I think is necessary to convey is read all the material Qantas gives about the cash card and then plan accordingly so. Don't get mad at Qantas cash because of your ignorance, even if something isn't your fault. Educate yourself and fail gracefully when the time comes.
Efficient, easy to use, prompt assistance.
I used this card while on holiday in the USA and Canada in 2017. The card is easy to load via the internet, exchange rate and commission are industry standard and the card works seamlessly apart from "tap and go" not available. I have had no trouble at ATMs, restaurants, tours etc. The website is updated rapidly showing all transactions.
On one occasion I couldn't access the site but a call to the international assistance number had things out rapidly following which all was again fully functional.
I can't understand the negative comments. This card is dependable and seamlessly functional.
Perth. Western Australia
No problems in the USA
I was concerned after reading reviews however I had no problems with the card traveling in the USA for a month. I didn't use it for holding funds for hotels or car hires used my cc and used the Qantas cash card for all purchases meals etc and to withdraw cash a couple of times had no problems at all. Just be mindful when loading funds if it's the weekend in Oz as it will take longer to come across
Understand the Card and your destinations currencies
i have recently returned from a trip to Germany and prior to leaving read the reviews on this card which were predominately negative but still had to give it a go knowing my past usage of Australian debit cards and credit cards cost me an arm and leg.
The key behind the card is to have the available currency funds to the places you visit. I had Euro in Germany but my visit to Prague wasnt as generous preferring US which ate my AUD funds i had planned for in Bali. As i was only there a few days didnt damage account too much.
Cash out came wit...
Works perfectly for me
I’ve been using the Qan Cash card for the past four years, and never had any problems with it. It is the only card that I use when travelling overseas.
I like this card for the following reasons:
THERE ARE NO ANNUAL FEES
You can load multiple currencies onto the card and all the major ones are included. This is a useful feature especially if you are visiting more than one country on the same trip. Plus you can load Aussie dollars onto it and use it locally as a debit card.
NO EXPENSIVE LINES OF CREDIT ...You only ever use your own money. If you don’t load money onto it, you can’t use it, and you can only use what you’ve loaded. As someone who studiously avoids debt, even interest-free credit card debt, this card suits me perfectly for use locally and overseas. NO LOAD FEES As there are no load fees, you can load up as often as you like in any currency that you like subject only to a minimum load of $A50 a time. This also suits me because when, for example, the AUD is gaining against the USD and I have U.S. trip planned for later in the yr, I can take advantage of the favourable exchange rate to load up my USD. And because I can load small amounts, that helps me manage my cash flow as I can toss any spare change that I have into the foreign currency of my choice. EXCHANGE RATE Yes, the exchange rate that you get is lower than the quoted wholesale rate. If for example the “headline” or wholesale rate of the AUD to the USD is 76c, you may only get 73c (U.S.) for your dollar, but anyone who complains about that doesn’t understand basic economics, because firstly, the punters will never get the headline quoted rate of say 76c: that’s reserved for the big players like Commonwealth Bank or B.H.P., who trade millions of USD every day. Secondly, how do you expect Qan Cash to make money? Of course they must build a margin into the exchange rate. If they didn’t do that, they wouldn’t be able to provide the service and you’d be stuck using your regular bank card and paying twice as much for a withdrawal overseas. EASY & CHEAP TO USE I’ve used this card successfully in Israel, U.K., Singapore and Malaysia. Generally I’ve paid just one small ATM fee per withdrawal of around $A2. In Israel it was $US1.40 per ATM withdrawal and in the U.K. it was 1.25 pounds. There are no other fees and no fees for overseas purchases. I think the only place where I had problems using the card in an ATM was in Seoul, but then I couldn’t use any of my Aussie cards there, so I’m sure it was a prob with foreign cards generally and not a problem specific to the Qan Cash card. EASY TO LOAD Loading up is simple. You only need to log onto your account, choose the currency that you want and the amount (subject to a min of $A50) and hit the button. The exchange rate is always prominently displayed alongside each currency and you can choose the quantum in either AUD or in the foreign currency. For example, you can choose to load $A100 into USD and it will give you say $US73. Or you can choose the amount in foreign currency eg $C100 and it will charge you $A102. RESPONSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE Whenever I’ve had a problem - and I haven’t had too many problems with this card - I’ve found customer service to be efficient and responsive. Rather than waiting on the phone, I prefer to email my query and usually within 24 hrs I have my answer. HAVE A PLAN B Just a word of advice to fellow travellers. Despite the fact that I’ve hardly ever had problems with the Qan Cash card, whenever I travel overseas, I always have a backup plan just in case my Qan Cash card doesn’t work. So I usually take my CommBank keycard with me, and one other credit card too (always with a credit bal and the smallest credit limit allowed, usually $1,000) and some physical notes in local currency. My wife will take one card with her as well. SUMMARY If you stick to the rules and use the card properly you should have no problems with it.
I had not used my Qantas Cash card outside Australia before, but I recently used it all over Japan & had no issues at all. I was able to make purchases in many stores, & easily withdraw money from various ATMs. Some places charge a withdrawal fee & some don't - you need to do the research.
I would definitely use it again.
No problems with card
I have used my Qantas cash card for many overseas trips. I am organised and plan ahead so that I do not have to pay transfer fees. I do not use it for pre pay incidentals at hotels or travelling on cruises. We just use our normal credit card and when we leave we use our Qantas card to pay the bill. Also when confirming hotel reservations online we use our normal credit card and when we arrive at hotel then pay for with Qantas card. Have never had any trouble withdrawing money from ATM's overseas either. People need to check card before g...oing overseas, use in Australia first and iron out any issues. I have had more trouble with my credit card from a major bank than this card. The exchange rate might not be as good as a bank, but if my card gets stolen I only have the amount on it to lose not the endless credit limit on my major bank card. I also charge up my card several times during my trip just in case it does get stolen. In general travellers need to get organised before they travel and travel with another credit card to use in case it does not work....
Questions & Answers
I am trying to convert my Aus $ to NZ $ but I have been unable to log in for a couple of days now, a message appears on the log in screen saying QantasMoney is unavailable at present. HELP I am in NZ and can't access my money.
Does Qantas cash card have any fees
Technically it doesn't, however they give you poor exchange rates which make it much more expensive then using your bank credit card. It is the same as buying money at the airport, usually 20% worse than at a suburban office of the same company.
This is the only contact form I have found. I am a lifetime member of Qantas Club and have been trying to log in to my apparently dormant cash card account. Changed pin when requested at least twice. Still cannot log in. QC No: 0042515
